Not only are they capable of lighting up the silver screen, they are also some of today's most talented young actresses, commanding huge fees - in some cases, in the millions. Many have won multiple awards, while others have starred in some of today's biggest box office hits. In short, we're listing down the cream of the crop!

Just like our recent Top 50 hottest young actors, we've narrowed down our list from 75 to 30, and included an age limit. If you miss seeing some of your favorites, so do we - including Maggie Gyllenhaal (31 years old) and Amy Adams (34 years old).

Definitely what you'll see on the list are emerging talents - the ones you will see getting the big roles in the near future - and some of them already have, with awards and nominations to boot.

Here's the Top 30:

She played two amazingly different characters: the ever-suffering Melody in the 2006 Australian drama film, 2:37, from upcoming film-maker Murali K. Thalluri and a bullying American schoolgirl named Vanessa in The Grudge 2.

She is Teresa Palmer, and was recently named as one of Australia's 30 'Stars of Tomorrow' in Screen International. She was supposed to be the leading lady in Jumper, but was replaced abruptly by Rachel Bilson (as was the case with Hayden Christensen who bumped Tom Sturridge for the lead). Although she lost out on that one, there were recent reports that she'll be the next Wonder Woman.

Says moviehole:

The director of one of actress Teresa Palmer's most recent movies dropped us a line to say the foxy blonde starlet has won the much coveted part of Wonder Woman in George Miller's "Justice League". Palmer was one of a handful of actresses - including Minka Kelly and Mary Elizabeth Winstead - who tested for the part a week ago, with both studio and director reportedly crushin' over the "December Boys" star's audition. If true, Teresa's about to invest in some blonde hair dye.

Palmer is definitely one to watch in the years to come. Says Palmer ( on her role as Lucy in December Boys):

I'm like, "Yeah! I'm sexy!" That was really challenging, for me to do that. I'm not as overtly sexual as Lucy is. But I think that sexiness comes from within. The way you are. Your confidence. I think the thing about Lucy is that she really uses her body, and the way she moves, to lure Maps into her little world.

Born in France but very definitely known as a young British actress, Emma Watson has become an attractive and versatile talent.

- - -

- - -

Watson was cast as Hermione at the age of nine, having acted only in school plays. From 2001 to 2007, she starred in five Harry Potter films alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. She will return for the final three installments: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, due to be released in 2008, and the two parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Watson's work in the Harry Potter series has earned her several awards and more than £10 million. Says the actress:
I feel incredibly lucky to have been given the opportunity to be in such a fantastic film and worked with so many tons of people. I mean, my ambitions couldn't even dream of the scale and greatness that Harry Potter is, and so, I'm so very lucky about that. But as Dan said, I love performing, I love being creative. There's so many different aspects of the film world that even if I didn't pursue acting, then I... I mean, something, something in it I might end up doing. Whatever gets thrown at me, I'm just going to go with the flow and see what happens.
- - -

She played alongside Jamie Bell and Justin Chatwin in the less well-known but absolutely awesome movie The Chumscrubber. She is also known for her lead role in the 2006 remake of When a Stranger Calls, the 2008 film 10,000 BC, and the 2000 Disney Channel film Rip Girls. She's Camilla Belle.

- - -

- - -

But it's the film The Ballad of Jack and Rose, where she played the daughter of Daniel Day-Lewis' character, that Belle is noted for. The film only had a limited theatrical release, but Belle was labeled an "impressive newcomer" by film critic James Berardinelli. Belle’s role as Rose also earned her the Gotham Award nomination for the Breakthrough Award. Says Belle:
“Working with someone like Daniel Day-Lewis, you’re challenging your creative self and seeing how far you can push yourself. Then working opposite pieces of tape is something that pushes you in a completely different way – you can feel so silly. You just want to stand back and laugh at yourself, but you keep on going. At least all of us are in it together.”
- - -

Kelli Garner. We first noticed her in Dreamland, a small indie film directed by Jason Matzner. Hers was just a supporting role, but it seems there was a story behind her selection...

- - -

- - -
Matzner's casting director kept suggesting Garner for the lead role of Calista, a beautiful woman with aspirations of competing in a Miss America pageant, yet Matzner resisted. He recalled her performance in "Bully" and thought "she was some street kid from Florida that (director) Larry Clark found in a trailer park and stuck in his movie and has now made it to Hollywood trying to act...

She read for the part and became the benchmark for everyone else.
She then created more buzz acting alongside Ryan Gosling in 2007's Lars and The Real Girl. But aside from those two films, she also excelled in the acclaimed Normal Adolescent Behavior.
"I loved that script," Garner said. "It called out a lot of your bull**** that you sometimes get in middle-America high schools of underage drinking and finger pointing and name calling and being a hypocrite and all those things."
Based on Beth Schacter's script, this is a darkly comic look at precocious teens grappling with sex, excess and alienation. Avoiding the high school party scene and random hookups, Wendy (Amber Tamblyn) and her friends (Billie, played by Garner) form a clique that claims a more fluid sexuality. Schacter's directorial debut delivers a provocative take on teen romance in this modern promiscuous age.

Melonie who? Queen of what?

In a ritual almost as old as the festival itself, the media single out one prolific actress each year for what is widely seen as a career-boosting coronation. Being anointed is a confirmation of status in the independent film world and a step toward studio movie stardom. Diaz, who this year is actually in four festival entries -- "American Son," "Assassination of a High School President," "Be Kind Rewind" and "Hamlet 2" -- is the latest to be handed the crown. She joins such esteemed predecessors as Parker Posey, Lili Taylor, Christina Ricci, Kirsten Dunst, Chloë Sevigny, Catherine Keener and Patricia Clarkson.

That's the article that made us instant fans! But of course, long before Melonie Diaz became a much-celebrated actress, we already loved her in A Guide to Recognizing your Saints.

The Sundance article continues:

"It's an honor," Diaz says, "but it's intimidating, and a little embarrassing. In industry terms, I'm still a newbie. The first in a lineage of Latina actresses that includes Rosie Perez, Rosario Dawson and America Ferrera to ascend the throne, Diaz is already a Sundance veteran. At 15, she made her film debut in Tom DiCillo's "Double Whammy," which screened at the 2001 festival. The following year she appeared in "Raising Victor Vargas" and returned in 2006's "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints."

Almost there, but it seems she miscalculated and that cost her the top spot... That seems to be the case for young actress Erika Christensen. While she remained quite active in both television and movies, she never did a follow-up on her smash performances in Traffic (2000) and Swimfan (2002).

She actually did great in The Upside of Anger and in the indie feature, Gardener of Eden. But she needs another awesome performance to put her back in the big league and be able to compete with the likes of Evan Rachel Wood. Erika was once quoted as saying:
I tend to choose roles in films that say something that I can get behind, something that I agree with, something that I can relate to [and] something that I think is good to say. Because if you’re putting it out there, it’s got to be something worth it.
Hopefully she'll get another challenging role soon. It's such a waste of talent!

- - -
Jena Malone. Think Donnie Darko or The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys or even Pride and Prejudice, Jena Malone is such a talented and diverse actress! Nominated multiple times and having won a number of prestigious awards, Malone should have been ranked higher but the inconsistencies in many of her later role choices compelled us to ranked her below the top 20.

- - -

- - -

While she did appear in the award-winning Sean Penn movie, Into the Wild, she seems uninspired and remote. Furthermore, her venture into singing is perhaps one of her biggest career mistakes.

- - -

Leelee Sobieski. An attractive blonde teen player of TV and film who bears a passing resemblance to Helen Hunt, Leelee Sobieski achieved her big screen breakthrough in 1998 as Elijah Wood's young bride in the disaster-themed hit "Deep Impact" and as the daughter of an expatriate family in the Merchant-Ivory production "A Soldier's Daughter Never Cries". The latter in particular offered the young actress a meaty role as she took her character from puberty through adolescence and the scenes she shared with her onscreen father (Kris Kristofferson), who offered guidance without judgment, were quite moving. Sobieski demonstrated a maturity beyond her years that reminds us of other former child players like Helen Hunt and Jodie Foster.

- - -

- - -

Sobieski is, of course, know for her critically-acclaimed role as Joan of Arc, in the TV movie of the same name back in 1999. Says Sobieski:
I work really well when people around me are relaxed. Sometimes, there has to be a certain amount of tension to carry a film, but it’s important to me that the crew that’s working around me feels happy. And for that to happen, I need them to feel appreciated. Sometimes, that just involves being like one of the kids and hanging out and laughing with the crew. It depends on the character I’m playing. Last time, I did this romantic comedy, and I need this upbeat energy, and I kind of kept that energy going all day long. Then I would get home and be serous and crash. But on set, I was super light and goofy.

Outspoken on issues she feels strongly about, Nikki Reed is not only an actress but also a screenwriter. Together with filmmaker Catherine Hardwicke, Reed wrote the screenplay for the award-winning film entitled Thirteen. Together they finished the script for the semi-biographical film in six days, an incredibly fast time for a Hollywood script to be written in. Producers asked Reed to play a role in the film because they had trouble casting it, considering it an "uncomfortable" role for most young actresses. The film, starring Evan Rachel Wood, was released in 2003 to glowing reviews, giving Reed recognition in Hollywood as both an actress and a screenwriter.

Scott Lyle Cohen, reviews the film:

Reed's involvement makes Thirteen the grittiest, most honest portrait of teendom since Larry Clark's Kids (1995). She reveals, as only an insider could, the idiom and body language specific to the adolescents who hang out in the parking lots, malls and streets in every town across America. "Most teen movies," says Reed, "are fantasies, like The Princess Diaries [2001]. But my movie is coming from a completely different angle, which is truth. This is what really happens." And as tough as Thirteen is to watch at times, it's impossible to turn away.
Reed also appeared in several films, including Lords of Dogtown and Mini's First Time. She will also portray Rosalie Hale in the upcoming film adaptation of the book Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.

One of the most popular young stars today, Blake Lively, is not only making waves in television (via Gossip Girl) but is slowly becoming known as a young actress to be reckoned with.

- - -

- - -

With such diverse film choices as The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, Accepted, Simon Says, and Elvis and Anabelle, Lively proved she is both a celebrity and a talented actress. On her movie, Sisterhood...:

I think that people saw the title and they got really scared away. The Sisterhood, first of all, screams "chick flick." Of the Traveling Pants? "Like what does that mean? That there's magical pants dancing around at Hogwarts?" I think the title scared a lot of people away. But like 90% of men we talked to said that they cried during it. And they said, "I didn't think that it was going to be a movie that I would even like, but I loved it." Because it seemed like it would be feminine issues--you know, like "my prom dress" or "this boy that I have a crush on doesn't know I exist." But it was really universal issues, and serious issues. There was cancer, the loss of virginity, a broken family, falling in love for the first time--it was things that anybody could relate to. So you're not the only one!

The 21-year old actress will also appear in New York, I Love You an upcoming romance set to be released some time in 2009. From the producers of Paris, Je t'aime, it stars an ensemble cast including Orlando Bloom, Natalie Portman, Christina Ricci, Hayden Christensen, Shia LaBeouf, Kevin Bacon and Blake Lively.

tMF certainly has its eyes on a number of talented actors- Matthew Goode, Giovanni Ribisi, Nick Stahl and more. At the moment, we have below our latest profiles, with more coming up soon!

It would seem hard to talk about Casey Affleck without mentioning his brother Ben or vice versa. The brothers have been the subject of many articles - from their looks and their relationships to Ben’s decision to cast his brother in Gone Baby Gone and the completely different career paths both guys took on: Casey remained oblivious to the glamour and glitz of Hollywood, while Ben adjusted to the glare of being in the spotlight. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers - The 30-year old Irish actor is known for speaking his mind- he is quite vocal about a number of issues- from the failings of the film industry to dealing with directors with huge egos to the irrelevance of celebrities & the lack of real talent in some of today’s biggest box-office stars. Not many people are blessed with the opportunity to enter a deeply rewarding and exciting career. In the case of Michael Angarano, it has been like that since he was 5 years old. As a young model, he was exposed early to the hustle and bustle of a glam job. Not surprisingly, he began his successful transition into acting a couple of years later. [ read more ]

Kostja Ullmann: Taking on such a challenging role is not a new departure for the actor. After appearing in a variety of shows on German television, Ullmann was offered the role of Achim, one of the leads in Marco Kreuzpaintner’s Summer Storm. [ read more ]
