Hello Jed.

I thank you for trying so very hard to inform me of the wonders of Twilight but I feel that my comments have been misinterpreted and that I have been quoted out of context. Below is my original post on /film, which you can still access at the original site:

"O_O

*puts her hand up* Okie dokie, it seems like the fanatical legions have come out in force. I want to say a few things in defense of this article.

a) This is a movie blog, not a magazine. That means that a piece of movie news comes out and then it is stated, sometimes with an opinion, sometimes not. What needs to be remembered here is that this is NOT a BOOK blog. It is a MOVIE blog. The author was not trying to do a detailed article on the freaking novels. This blog post is about how a movie that, obviously, is getting little regular press is becoming a phenomenon based souly on the preexisting fanbase.

b) This article is written based on the MOVIE version of Twilight, not the written version. Judging from the material avail liable on the movie, it does look a lot like the Covenant, which was not a good movie. The cast consists of a bunch of pretty boys, okay? With super powers. That means it will be compared to other movies that feature pretty boy casts. Until the movie actually comes out and proves these comparisons wrong that’s what people are going to say.

c) STOP SAYING THE DUDE NEEDS TO READ THE BOOKS BEFORE WRITING A BLOG POST ON IT. That’s just stupid, okay? This is the first time I’ve even seen mention of this movie on a prominent movie blog, and I read a few. That means that this article is actually positive press. It says nothing wrong about the movie and that it is targeted towards teenage girls. Guess what? IT IS TARGETED TOWARDS TEENAGE GIRLS. That doesn’t mean other people can’t enjoy it, but like it or not that’s the target audience. Thus the casting. If you continue to relentlessly flame every movie blogger that makes this comparison they will not cover it. No positive PR means the movie will tank even more then it allready is probably going to do.

This website is about movies. Indian Jones, Terminator, The Hulk. Those are the other blog entries right now. Twilight may be the best damn book on the planet, but what we care about here is the movie. In comparison to the movies I just mentioned, how do you think it will do? From what I’ve seen this thing is going the way of Eragon so perhaps you should more careful of who you hate on, k?"

I wrote this post at the very beginning of the whole debacle, before the disclaimer was put up by the author of the article. I felt that you was being treated unfairly by people who were commenting at the time and that the article should be defended. My entire point was that the movie is not getting very much press and that when someone does blog about it, they can't be attacked in such a fashion. Not everyone is going to read an entire series of books before posting about it on their movie blog. That's just reality and that was the point I was trying to make.

Perhaps this movie will be good, perhaps it won't be. Unfortunately right now the genre that it is in, movie wise, has not been doing well the last few years. That is only what I meant, not that it will suck. Hopefully it won't and we will get more movies with hot guys with super powers. I would actually enjoy that, lol. I just wanted to say that it is unfair to attack someone in such a fashion for assuming that a series of teen novels is read by... teens.

I apologise for sending this to you as a comment on your blog. To be honest, I wanted to simply send this to you personally but I have been unable to find a contact email for you. I know that you are quoting a comment I made on a blog post and there is nothing I can ultimately due to make you take it down but I feel that perhaps as a writer and a journalist you can respect my desire for my words to kept in their original context.

Thank you. - duca

Twilight will be huge!

thanks Lady Noliana! I actually took part, because I read a comment coming from the same viewer who is obviously not a fan and some of the comments were a bit unfair.

Eragon is and will not be at par with Twilight, it's not even a film worth watching. You are right in pointing out Hardwicke trying her best to please the fans and come up with a wonderful movie. A lot of factors are pointing to the right direction, and I think Twilight will be a big big hit! - jedmed

Wow. That comment is just ridiculous. Luckily, I didn't get involved in that flame war on /Film, but... *sigh*

Everything I've seen so far of Twilight is wonderful. I think it'll be a great movie on its own, without having the benefit of a devoted book fanbase. It's a wonderful story thanks to Meyer, and Catherine Hardwicke is doing her absolute best to please the fans, which is something that Eragon definitely didn't do. All the signs point to the fact that Twilight will be GOOD. - Lady Noliana
