Trying to sit through that entire movie was just plain PAINFUL! Movie wise overall it was not acceptable. Though the movie did succeed in making the beautiful unique story of Twilight into utter crap. It was a sloppy piece of work as it seemed as if through the whole movie there were dozens of awkward scenes. The many of the actors failed to capture the real essence of their characters. There was horrible chemistry between the characters of Bella and Edward in the movie. Also the atmosphere that the music gave off was totally wrong. I know they were trying to pull off sneaking in some of Stephenie Meyer's music in some scenes, but it just gave off a confusing emotion mixed in with the weird acting, I didn't really know what to feel at certain points in the movie. I think that the worst part of all of was that these people who made the movie really just stole dozens of peoples money by giving us a really crappy movie, sticking a popular title in front of it and calling it good movie to watch. And now that this production company is gaining millions of dollars from this disaster they probably think they've done a great job and continue making such crap for the rest of the series. Right now I'm really just angry that i actually paid for such a movie. I'm surprised it didn't just go straight to DVD it was so bad. Hearing that the same people who did this movie are going to make New Moon, i really pray that people get some sense to know what is good and acceptable and what should just be burned to save people the trouble of wasting their time on something a lot of people know could have been better. The thing about this movie is that it didn't have to turn out THIS BAD! Other movies that were based on books turned out really great in the past such as the Harry Potter movies, and even Lord of the Rings. These are examples of how the Twilight movie was supposed to be like, not exactly like the book, but with the right amount of excitement and proper direction. To be honest this movie was just so bad that there is just no space possible to vent out the anger that I am feeling at this moment. I hope that people, especially Stephenie Meyer's can be smarter in these very crucial decisions next time, but for now i don't believe I'll be trusting any work from people like Catherine Hardwicke with any of my precious money or my time, until someone smartens up and actually realizes that these books and story's need to be taken into account and be made properly, preferably by someone who knows what they're doing, has read the books, and can actually relate and understand the most important part of the story, the characters. Because the characters are the ones who carry the story on their backs and bring it to life, without good acting, good directing, then all that is left is something ugly and butchered like the Twilight movie. I hope and I pray that Stephenie Meyer can see this and realize it soon before it's too late. SAVE TWILIGHT!! - kolle

BIGGER BUDGET=MORE SUCCESS

Make New Moon but get a bigger budget. Twilight made more opening weekend than it cost to film it. Twilight was a hit when the movie wasn't that great. Think what would happen if it was made like most box office hit movies. (i.e. Harry Potter, Da Vinci Code) I mean had anyone even read The Notebook before the movie? And that was a better movie than Twilight which was a bestselling series. It looked like a cheap, cheasy independent film... I still liked it because I love the books but that won't hold true if New Moon and the rest follow that path. Don't underestimate the fan crowd of these Twilight novels, if the movies are made right then fans will see it over and over. (and get the boys to go too if there's some good vampire action.) - JS

I ABSOLUTELY love twilight the movie and the book! i could also see it OVER AND OVER again. so yeah. i really think that NEW MOON NEEDS to be made into a movie. i mean come on the ending TOTALLY hinted that Victoria is NOT gonna stop. i am a TEAM EDWARD fan and i didn't like NEW MOON only because Bella and Edward broke up. but still in order to get to Eclipse and Breaking Dawn you have to go through New Moon. I am really looking forward to it but we still have to wait another year! ughghghg well i guess we will have to wait then huh girls! - flaybob

I am a huge fan of the books. I have read the entire series and saw the Midnight showing of the Twilight movie. It reportedly made over $7 million in Midnight sales alone and I think it will definitely continue to bring in money over the next few weeks.. maybe even more then they actually anticipated. I hope they do all 4 movies and I hope they do them soon. I don't want to wait until 2010 for New Moon. I would think there would be no need for hesitations at this point and filming should start ASAP! - Cass

New Moon into a movie??

Well, I too have been swept up in All Things Twilight!! I'm a bit older than the target audience but because of that, I can honestly say that if New Moon is made into a movie, they really better break out the tall cash and make it great. I know that I will enjoy Twilight as a movie, but I also know that it will not come close to the book. I think that will hold true for New Moon UNLESS they create a storyline using EDWARDS point of view during those emotionally tumultuous months for both Bella and Edward! Now THAT would be really cool to see!! I guess it would be along the lines of a continuation of Midnight Sun...! I would LOVE to see that played out on the big screen....and we (the fans that is!) would have NEW MATERIAL that we wouldn't be comparing to a book! I think that would be fabulous personally!! - monty2mom

I think that they should put New Moon and Eclipse as on movie. Because of the internal struggle that Bella goes through I believe that they can Easily sum it up in about 20mins. Also in the book Stephanie Meyer only shows about a month of her anguish and than there are 6 pages that say the months on them. I think that in the long run it would be better because once they get those two books done they can really focus on the final book and make everything come to life. - Dagne

p.s. as a side note, some people are mentioning making the film version into a trilogy and that is a TERRIBLE idea. fans are already going to be disappointed (unavoidably) by little changes in plot....imagine merging the books and changing titles!! it will not fly for sure

In my opinion, the solution is to create all four movies. With an increased budget each time from the steady revenues, by the time Breaking Dawn is made it should have enough money to be executed correctly. I disagree with those saying that it should not include Breaking Dawn. Although the book is very deep and graphic, it has ENORMOUS potential for screen adaptation and keep in mind that if each film takes a year, Breaking Dawn will be not ready for three or four years! Unbearable, I know, BUT the demographic that is currently obsessed will be growing and believe it or not, most Twilight fans I know arent "tweens", they are older teenagers, young adults in 20's, and people of all ages up to 70 or 80. They can handle some violence and sexuality and a deeper plot, we have all seen worse on TV.

DEFINITELY cant forget to mention....DVD sales anyone? I dont know about you, but I can't even wait to have a boxed set of all four movies on a shelf next to my four hardcover novels. I dont even buy DVDs what with the Internet nowadays, but you bet i will be buying these four (if made)

It would be stupid to pass up...far worse movies have been made with much less of a fan base who will watch terrible movies just because they get their Edward and Bella fix :) sad but true - Katelyn Cozzi

Some Suggestions...

I'm looking at this from two sides as a huge Twilight fan and as an entertainment business major...

Of course, although the main actors have been signed already for the first three movies, actual production should be held until after the movie is released for the SOLE reason that if Summit expects to continue this series SUCCESSFULLY, they HAVE to reinvest the money made off the film into the next one. I already am skeptical about the first film, not because I have impossible standards due to loving the books so much, but because the trailers look cheesy, the action looks like a bad kung-fu movie, the actors are sub-par (kristin stewart is a terrible actress and Rob doesn't even understand the character if you see his interviews), and the indie-film director is just not cutting it.

Twilight is screaming LOW BUDGET. Fortunate for Summit, Twilight fans are rabid enough to forgive the small company and I think New Moon will do well and actually grow in fans if the trailers and budgets are upped a notch or twenty. But New Moon will be the last chance to get it right, after that if they screw up low budget again, Eclipse will bomb.

Too late to change the actors, but double the budget and get a more experienced director and Twilight movies could be bigger than they can imagine. It will be a shame if they don't realize that they can't just take the profits from the first movie, they have to be sacrificed to benefit the series and create a MUCH bigger profit in the end.

That being said, I AM COUNTING THE HOURSSS UNTIL TWILIGHT COMES OUT AND MY ADVANCE TICKETS ARE SET FOR THE MIDNIGHT SHOWING AND THE FIRST ONE IN THE MORNING!!!!

What about Renesme? if they plan on making all 4 books into movies....they need to think about this. She grows very fast in this book. if they do make it into a movie, they should start filming all of the parts with renesme NOW! this way they can use the same baby.

i think that all 4 books will be a hit!!! - paula

i had have to saw.. i have to see the first movie (but i dont think its gunna turn out that well since books are always better than movies) and like kristen.. playing for bella.. i dont think shes.. like umm like she's not good enough or like its just not her character to play bella well yeah she has the looks and like her hair.. and how she dresses but really i think shes.. not a good actor to play bella soo.. im kinda.. and i'll be pissed off about it if the she just runes it. so i guess just see how the first movie turns out then make a second one, cause i dont want to rouin the book .. - Arah

I'm still trying to grasp what the general populace (read: people who aren't inside the Twilight phenomenon already) thinks about the movie. I took it for granted that theaters would expect this to be a hit; I'm starting to realize that a lot of people still have no idea what's coming. That leads me to question how well the movie will do in the mainstream, in which case, I see how Summit would want to wait and see.

Personally, I think Breaking Dawn would be really difficult to translate to movie-form because the focus of the story is vastly different from the rest of the books (I enjoyed it, but it felt to me like a different storyline than the others), and there's a lot of material that would be inappropriate for Twilight's target audience to see onscreen (I'm 26, but I include myself in this category anyway). I think it might be wise for them to strategize a game plan for the rest of the books, now that we have the whole story, and that takes time and care. - Brittany

I really agree with Valerie. It would be really stupid to continue if they're going to stop at new moon or eclipse unless they (miraculously) come up with a really good alternate ending. not to mention, the fans would probably hate summit if they changed too much about the storyline of the saga as a whole (except for perhaps breaking dawn haters, but i love breaking dawn) - Shelby

I do agree with the people that say it would be difficult to convey Bella's internal emotional struggles if New Moon was made into a movie. However, I would be really sad if they didn't make new moon into a movie. I think the main ordeal with transforming any of these books into movies is that it seems like everyone wants the movies to be exactly like the books. I think the best thing to do would be to watch them as movies alone and stop comparing the to the books. If you are comparing them to the books the whole time, you're probably going to be disappointed.

Personally, though, I really hope they make all the books into movies. It would be interesting to see how Breaking Dawn plays out into a movie...? - Shelby

Seriously, look at how many comments that is in what? 5 days? There are mass amounts of people (okay, so mainly girls, but I know some guys who enjoy the Twilight Series as much as I do) who would love to see all of the books made into movies. Although, there are questions of "Is the movie going to be like the book? Because if not, I WILL freak out", "I hope they don't screw up what the story is actually about -Romance. Not violence and gore, like so many other vampire movies are about." and so on and so forth. As for my personal opinion, I would kill and I would die to see the books made into movies, and I'm sure many others would as well. And there is NO DOUBT that these movies will be bigger than Harry Potter. But that is my point of view... Carry on! Its superb so far! - Bekuh

I agree with Tiffani above-I would love to see New Moon put on the big screen- I don't think they will have problems attracting people to the theaters- but if they make New Moon they will need to continue with Eclipse and Breaking Dawn- I'm a big Twilight fan and can't wait to see the movie- So my thoughts on the matter are to go ahead with the sequeal- I think it will be a huge success- :-) - Valerie
