my prediction for the film is that it will make 60$ million dollars on it's opening weekend.

Why Compare?

Seriously, do we have to compare? Twilight is no Harry Potter, I admit, and Stephenie Meyer is no J.K Rowling. I already read both series and I say that Rowling's have a more dramatic ending. But do Twilight always have to be under Harry Potter's shadow? Both series are awesome and I love both (though I like Twilight better). Twilight should escape from being compared to Harry Potter. I see no similarity between the two bestseller series. - Michella

okay to begin i know im planning on going once with my mom once with my aunt once with two friends once with a whole group of friends at school. and not to mention the fact that alot of twilight fans want to see how bad/good the movies going to be. I personally love mythilogical fiction and was a and still am a huge hp fan. You know that alot of HP fans like twilight because of the mythilogicalness of it.

ok.. i have the feeling people won't just want to see the movie once. on opening weekend, sure there are going to be alot of people, but the numbers not going to decrease drastically. im planning to see the movie over again, and so are ALOT of people. critics are really underestimating the power of the fandom. it's really overwhelming. in comic con.. those were just the san diego fans. imagine worldwide. there is no doubt this movie will make some bucks. and after the trailer premieres tonight... well see. ;) - mrs. spunk ransom

From personal experience working at a movie theatre, I'm going to say that the movie will do really well. Yes, James Bond come out in Novemeber too, but I think that it will have the same kind of effect that Batman did.
If James Bond sells out everynight for many weekends, that means there will be a lot of people who won't get tickets or good enough seats. Most people still want to watch a movie, as what happened with Batman, and will go and watch other movies. That means that the majority of the shows being played around the same time at James Bond will easily sell out, or at least fill up.
So I say that Twilight will create lots of box office buzz, hopefully on its own, or at least due to the fact that many people will swarm to the theatres to watch other blockbusters. - Aly

Movie or Book?

I am a huge Twilight Fan! I only just discovered twilight a month ago. (By the way, I'm a TwilightMom, 30+.) I can't wait for the movie, but as a fan I guess I have a different attitude than most. From what I have seen so far the movie looks like it will be an awesome adaption. That being said, movies rarely come close to capturing what a book is for me.

To me the book is the book, and the movie is the movie. It's like with LOTR. I love Tolkien! I usually read LOTR at least once a year. Even though the movies couldn't capture the true scope of those books, I love the movies. They are another facet of those stories and stay true to the spirit of Tolkien. This is what I hope for Twilight.

Some things are very difficult to translate from page to screen. But from what I've seen, the director, actors, and the studio seem to be trying to stay true to Meyer's vision of her characters and that is what will mean most to me. I also have cleared my calendar for 11/21 and plan to spend the day with twilight! - Raeniece

Meh.....Maybe

I think for Twilight, the movie will do well, for what the story is, and because of it's fans. I don't think it will big blockbuster smashing and will only hold the no. 1 spot for the first week, maybe the second, but will start to fall after that. It definitely won't be on any scale that Harry Potter is. The two can't even compare, seriously.

As much as I like the first book Twilight, I won't be seeing the movie in the theater. Most likely I'll wait for it to come out on dvd, which honestly, I don't think will take too long. But I'm sure it will do well enough for them to make 'New Moon'. - Me

Hit for the hype(andd more)

I think I can sort of kind of relate this to the hype that was surrounding "The Dark Knight". I have never been a Batman fan, have never read any of the comics, and had not seen any of the movies. However, with all of the Hype surrounding "The Dark Knight", I felt as though I HAD to see it, just to say that I did. I didn't nessessarily want to see it, but i can say that I actually really enjoyed it. I think that may be true for the Twilight movie, there has been soooo much hype and I think that people will go and see this movie, whether they want to or not.
But I want to, and if it doesn't stink(which I know it wont), I will be seeing at least 5 times. - Caroline

I'M SO EXCITED

You know, reading articles like this one are only making me more and more excited for this book series. I'm not a teenager, and I had three friends recommend these books to me before I read them. Needless to say, I was hooked after the first chapter, even before I knew who the Cullens were.

I think this movie is going to be big. Most of the newspapers in my area have said it is going to be the blockbuster of the fall. I keep hearing some of the fans bashing the casting and saying they don't even want to see it because they think it'll be screwed up, but they need to remember that this is an adaptation. I'm going into it taking it for what it is. Personally, if Stephenie Meyer is cool with the casting, and the writing and how it is turning out, that's good enough for me.

I think this movie will do big in theaters. It's had so much hype so far, and when the second trailer was previewed on Entertainment Tonight, the host said that this was the most buzzed about trailer for the fall. Yes, it won't be Harry Potter big, but there's no doubt that the fans are going to see it over and over again if they don't like it. Sure, you'll have your people who think the whole book is ruined and who will always complain that Rob Pattinson isn't the right person to play Edward Cullen, but I think it should be well received.

About boys liking Twilight, I think that they should be curious about it. Sure, the love aspect is huge, but there is action in it. I thought guys were into the whole vampire thing to some degree. The trailers look like the action could be really cool. I know the book action was cool. I think this could be great for girlfriends to bring their boyfriends to also. I think more guys need to be exposed to Twilight so we can get that squealing teenage girl image away from it. Guys can like Bella, right?

All in all, I think this movie is going to be big. Not Harry Potter big, but big. - Ally

I just can hope for the best result
I think twilight will be something big and let's say it's a phenomena since J K Rowling wrote Harry Potter and became major motion pictures
I think Twilight is a big phenomena and the movie could impact more
all I can do is only wait and see how people will love it
Cause we all love the saga, don't we? - Brenda Gracia

First off, if we as a society have not learned that hollywood always changes our books when they are adapted into movies then we are setting ourselves up for a let down. I am going to go see Twilight with about 20 friends as well and I am doing it with an open mind. I know it is not going to be exactly like the book but it will be close enough to make me happy for sure based solely on the previews and clips I have seen so far. Secondly, this movie is definetly going to knock Harry Potter off the charts no questions asked. LOL.. I was at comic con and the fans are what made me get into the series, and the preview we saw was amazing. My husband and I are both huge fans and I have now got all my coworkers caught up in the Twilight series as well. On a final note I urge all those reading this to go see the movie with an open mind and don't look to much into it. Just watch the movie and enjoy the fact that it is being brought to life. Don't disect it just enjoy it. - CloeyLovesTwilight

As a 26-year-old female, I can say that the group I'll be going to the theatre with will be varied: my best friend (in her 20s), my husband (in his 20s), my teenage cousin, my mother (in her 60s)... the series really crosses age AND gender lines and pulls people in. If nothing else, curiosity is going to make opening weekend huge. After that, if Summit has created a good adaptation that doesn't wander too far off course, then fans will return multiple times.

One thing I've learned about movies I love: I can watch them over and over, just to catch new things. So if Summit has created an honest, beautiful screen representation of Meyer's book, then I will definitely be seeing it more than once in theatres to give myself the chance to enjoy all the moments that make the books so engrossing and memorable. - Erynne

What I think most people seem to be overlooking here is the fact that there are so many older harry potter fans that have needed a new fandum to latch onto & twilight has offered the perfect solution for their book to movie drought. For that simple fact the movie will definatly be success and as for men not liking the book, my father read it right after me and is just as excited about the movie, not to mention my mom is reading it now and my boyfriend really doesnt have a choice in seeing it or not because i'm going to drag him there at midnight on opening night either way! lol! So andybody living in dallas, texas can expect to see me and my entire family camped outside of the movie theater! I know i will see the movie multiple times not only because i love the books and intend to give my full support, but for the simple fact that they HAVE to make the sequels cuz i simply will not survive unless i get to see jacob black on the big screen! - Leslie

I do very much beleive that us as Twilight fans are in our own little world when it comes to the book, the movie, and the actors (the question when Rob was finally on Perez was, 'Who's that guy?'). However even if no one outside of the Twilight fandom saw the movie: I still think that the ticket sales will be high. I can't tell you how many people I've talked to since the actual book 'Twilight' came out that have said that they will NEED to see the movie more than once. Speaking as an 18 year old fan, I can tell you now that seeing the movie one time won't be enough. The first time (especially at the midnight showing) everyone, myself included, will be screaming. Thats just a known fact. Opening weekend, the only people that will get to see the movie are Twilight fans because they will camp out if they have to. So we dont even need to worry about the people who arent fans. I wish them good luck in trying to find a seat the first month it's out actually.
If they do find a seat then my hope as a fan is that they will be intrigued by the movie enough to read the book.
