You should always speak your mind. I’m not interested in being one of those petulant, fuck you, eat the birds, punk rock, Avril Lavigne kids. I don’t have angst or anger, I don’t have any defense. It’s almost an intellectual attack on perception. - - -
![]() - - - When I first saw Thomas Dekker in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, I thought: this guy looks tough! And he should be, the role calls for it. After doing some research, it seems the guy has been in the biz for quite sometime, and I assumed he'd be like all the other Hollywood stars; do what he's told. Apparently, that is not the case, as his interview above shows. The twenty-year old actor is already quite controversial in his own right- departing all of a sudden from the TV series Heroes, speaking out against co-stars making out, just simply being himself and not afraid to voice out his opinions- which makes him so different from those so-called stars who'll kiss ass and do what's they're told by just about anyone. - - -
What's especially exciting to know about Dekker is that he's a real actor- someone who'll be interested in working with a certain filmmaker because he admires the work. In the case of his latest film, From Within, he took the role for the chance to work with Phedon Papamichael, one of the industry's foremost cinematographers whose credits include Walk the Line, The Weather Man, 3:10 to Yuma and The Pursuit of Happyness.Says Larry Richman in his film review of "From Within": The performances of Thomas Dekker ("Heroes," "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles") and Elizabeth Rice ("Mad Men") are at the heart of the movie and it's their believability which makes this film so emotional and poignant. Dekker's frightening gaze and enigmatic demeanor never lets up, in perfect contrast to Rice's innocence and vulnerability.Aside from this film, Dekker is doing Laid to Rest which he co-stars with Lena Headey and My Sister's Keeper along side Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin and Medium star Sofia Vassilieva. The role in My Sister's Keeper required Thomas to shave his head, as he is playing a cancer patient. He is also producing his own movie Whore which he wrote, directed, produced, edited and starred in. That makes Thomas Dekker one young actor to watch!
