Directed by one of France's most innovative writer-director, Francois Dupeyron, Monsieur Ibrahim is a coming of age drama about Momo (played by Boulanger) who befriended an Arab deli owner (Sharif) in 1960s Paris. Momo is Jewish and because of their cultural differences, it made the friendship more meaningful. Says IMDb: In a street called Blue in a very poor neighborhood in Paris, Monsieur Ibrahim (Omar Shariff) is an old Muslin Turkish owner of a small market. He becomes friend of the teenager Jewish Moises, tenderly nicknamed Momo (Pierre Boulanger), who lives with his father in a small apartment on the other side of the street. Monsieur Ibrahim gives paternal love and teaches the knowledge of the Koran to the boy, receiving in return love and respect. It was not a perfect movie, but the casting was incredible. Of course, Omar Sharif is a legend in world cinema- with movies such as Doctor Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia, Funny Girl and many more. Although Pierre Boulanger was discovered in this movie, he was not the original choice. My agent sent me to the casting. I remember the first time, there was a movie camera and they asked me questions about myself and something about what I'm doing with my life. Three weeks later, they informed me that the person they had chosen did not correspond and that they wanted then to test me again. I did some screen test with Omar Sharif in a Parisian grocery store with a small team. Finally, François Dupeyron wanted to meet me a last time in a coffee shop and then they called me to say that I'm in! - - -

There were some rather delicate scenes that required Boulanger to do some love scenes with a Parisian prostitute as he tried to loose his virginity. It was done with such good taste, you would not believe the actor is not a veteran! Here's the trailer, courtesy of youtube: - - -
- - - The young actor was then reported to be concentrating on his studies, thus he was not able to do movies right after Monsieur Ibrahim. After 2 years, he did some TV appearances and minor roles in movies. - - -

The movie was just released in France and stars Théo Frilet, Michel Blanc and Arthur Dupont. Boulanger is not playing the lead character, that's played by another cool French young actor- Théo Frilet, but I just know Boulanger will shine! Oh, by the way, you might want to visit Pierre via myspace! Here's the link! x
