- - - That's part of Alice Jones' report called The Britpack, where she describes the new wave of British actors making a huge impact in Hollywood. While she mentions Ben Barnes and Jim Sturgess among those making waves in Tinseltown right now, she apparently fails to mention one particular name - Robert Pattinson. The Twilight lead star seems to have the most ardent fan following and while I might be construed as being biased - and why not? He's the one winning our poll with thousands of votes! - there is certainly lots of evidence all over the web that he is very popular. Not that Jim Sturgess or Ben Barnes don't have their share of fans to speak about! Of course they do! In this special sneak peak into the upcoming Top 50 Hottest Young Actors list, we're taking a closer look at three hot young British actors, who may be part of the new tMF rankings... Something in common: Fans of the three actors probably say they began noticing Jim or Ben or Rob through one of their movies. But long before they became movie actors, the three guys did some training (others would say some of them did extensively) in British theater. Sturgess is a former member of the National Youth Music Theatre (1993-95) and studied at the University of Salford's School of Media, Music and Performance. Ben Barnes was also reported to have had some theater training, having appeared in the National Theatre's West End production of The History Boys before bowing out to join the cast of Narnia. Pattinson became involved in amateur theatre through the Barnes Theatre Company. I reported that he caught the attention of an acting agent in a production of Tess of the D'Urbervilles, and began looking for professional roles. Since then he has performed in an amateur version of Macbeth at the Old Sorting Office Arts Centre (also in West London). Breakthrough in Films: Many would say it was in Across the Universe that they first discovered Jim Sturgess and where they came to admire his singing and acting abilities. The Julie Taymor musical-drama was inspired by the songs of the Beatles and many of the cast were named from some of the Beatles' songs. See the movie trailer for Across the Universe here: - - -
- - - tMF recently asked the owners of jimsturgess.org about why they became fans of the actor:
Added Jess:
Ben Barnes is huge due to his part in the sequel to the first Narnia film, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, where he played Prince Caspian. In a major casting coup, it was reported that Barnes had little time to study his character or to train for the action sequences required in many of the movie's scenes, and yet he still managed to make a big impact in the movie. Watch Ben Barnes as he talks about his role and about the movie, Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian [ courtesy of youtube ] - - -
- - - Commented Alice Jones from UK's The Independent about Barnes grabbing the role as Prince Caspian:
For Robert Pattinson, the huge interest coming from American fans is credited to his being cast as Edward Cullen in the upcoming Twilight movie, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, and based on the best-selling novel by Stephenie Meyer. It was reported that both the director and the author had some reservations about Pattinson, but upon seeing the actor audition, both became convinced that they had found the perfect Edward. Says Meyer:
- - -
- - - But certainly, Pattinson had fans from a movie already shown, right? Of course, and here's the article that says it all:
- - - All hype and no major critical roles to play? You're wrong if you think that. Barnes, Pattinson and Sturgess have upcoming roles that are, at best, from some incredibly serious filmmakers. Not the kind of movies you get from the big studios, but more, as some may say, in the 'art house' league. Ben Barnes was recently cast as the lead in the screen adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray, where he gets to pit talents with Colin Firth, Ben Chaplin and Rebecca Hall. Jim Sturgess is also gearing up for the upcoming Fifty Dead Men Walking with Ben Kinsley, Rose McGowan and Kevin Zegers, and Crossing Over, where he is part of an ensemble cast led by Harrison Ford and Sean Penn. Robert Pattinson is one of the leads in the upcoming Little Ashes, where he plays the artist Salvador Dali. - - - Making the top 50 List: What we look for is a combination of acting talent and international appeal. While many young actors can claim popularity and a huge fan base, there is still the question of credibility and performance. Of course tMF has been known to feature emerging talents, those guys and girls who might just be the next big thing. As they say, 'it's only a matter of time' and I'm quite sure that these three young actors will one day be huge names in Hollywood. In fact, many would say that they are already on their way. What do you think? Is Robert, Ben or Jim the hottest young actor in cinema today? Tell us what's on your mind and let us know why you think your favorite is the hottest actor! - - - x

I am yet to be convinced by Sturgess and Barnes. Barnes in particular hasn't convinced me in any roles to date. I also saw him at the National and he was the least impressive Dakin I've seen. I love the History Boys so have seen a few Dakin's in my time and Barnes theatre expertiese has been bigged up a tad too much for my liking. He does have a good PR team thats for sure!
Until recently I wasnt aware of Pattinson but looked up his previous work and was surprisingly impressed. The list of work that we have yet to see is wetting my appetite - particularly Little Ashes. How To Be also has a strong performance from him and I'm suitably excited to hear of Parts Per Billion with Olivia Thirlby. These interesting roles suggest he is serious about his career and crafting a body of work he can be proud of. He may have gone under the radar with some journalists at Variety but I dont think its going to be long before Pattinson is regarded as THE BRIT actor to watch out for. He's a good few years younger than Barnes and Sturgess and still learning a lot but I do feel he has the greatest potential to hit the vey top of the profession.

Robert Pattinson
I think Robert Pattinson is the hottest young actor, one that everyone should keep on the lookout for. I couldn't be happier that he is finally getting some serious credit. He is certainly more than a pretty face, he has some major talent to back it up with. His previous roles in The Bad Mothers Handbook, The Haunted Airman, Harry Potter, Ring of Neiblungs and even the cut scenes from Vanity Fair all reinforce the fact that he is a natural born talent. I feel when people see him in the upcoming How to Be and Little Ashes, as well as Twilight, they will really begin to see his versatility and respect the differing roles he has gone out for. He is constantly challenging himself, and putting work into the small details of the characters that really are apparent when you watch his portrayals. He does well with physicality, adding movements and emotion, that come across true in each role, adding to the overall effect. With just one look he can express so much, that words aren't even needed, sometimes it's downright heartbreaking. He also is refreshingly different than the talent out there today. When I was recently asked for one word to describe him I gave the word captivating, he certainly has captivated me, and I am certain he will captivate many more with his talent and charisma, in the near future!

Pattinson will Blow Other Brit Competition Out of the Water
I think Barnes and Sturgess were flagged up and not Pattinson as Pattinson really isnt well known in the UK and the journalists are slow to catch on to the appeal of Twilight but Pattinson will surprise a lot of people as he's been quietly taking on roles to stretch him like Art in How To Be and the extremely difficult role of Salvador Dali in Little Ashes. I actually think he will blow the other Brit competition out of the water.

Barnes and Pattinson
I do like them both. I am a huge Twilight Fan but I am also looking forward to see Pattinson in "Little Ashes" and "How to be".
I didn't know Barnes before "Prince Caspian" but I think he is going to be a rising star in hollywood. I watched "bigga than ben" a couple of days ago and Barnes is really charismatic in his role as a russian immigrant. Can't wait so see him in "dorian gray" and "easy virtue". Barnes and Pattinson are the hottest young british actors in my opinion.

From a Ben Barnes fan
I got a nice pm from one of Ben's fan and she's a notable "proud member of the BARNES IS NOBLE society". To make this a fair board that include comments from all the three actors, I'm quoting her:
I believe Ben Barnes has that quality to bring out the best in acting if the scenarios provide the right conditions for him to explore it. i have strong belief that he has what we call in psychology "empathetic understanding" that is a virtue for someone involved with acting, as he has to search deep down to the soul of each character he is portraying. his acting background as a stage actor must be surely an advantage and therefore i am anticipating more character roles rather than action packed films from him (although I would not mind at all seeing him experimenting in various projects, loved him in Bigga than Ben, very character driven as well) he is witty and not following the path of other stars for starters and he has class , something missing from the "industry". hope he remains that way and his acting career blooms! I'll be posting other comments as well, as I got them, of course!

Robert Pattinson...
Robert is the hottest young actor in cinema today...in my opinion.
I like that you mention a little bit more about Robert's background in theatre. Some have been known to be under the misconception that he just stumbled on to the Harry Potter set as well as into acting and film, when in reality, he had already been acting in theatre and film stumbled across him. And worth mentioning, even though it didn't come to fruition, is that after wrapping up HP GoF, Robert said in an interview how he would like go and do little bit more theatre. Hopefully someday we will get to see him back on the stage. Edward and Twilight certainly have been the biggest draw for fans. But despite all the hype and despite some who will continue to think of Robert as 'Edward' - the positive thing going on here is that real fans of Rob's are coming out left and right. From fans who have taken notice already and love him as Daniel Gale in The Bad Mother's Handbook, (my personal favorite,) or as Toby Jugg in The Haunted Airman; to new fans who go in search of these titles and others, in hopes of seeing more of this talent...it's broadening the horizons of both Robert and Robert's fans. Both are being educated I'd say. One of the more exciting things for Robert fans are the releases of How To Be and Little Ashes, which you mentioned. We won't get to see them until after Twilight opens, but hopefully the two independent films will use Twilight as a jumping off point for those who will be craving more Robert screen time. And they also, hopefully, will be doing more press in the time between now and then. So, in addition to his unique talent to be able to bring any character to life, and all the above reasons as to why he is the hottest actor in the world, there is also draw on what he's like personally. Awkward but deep, quirky but humorous, unnerved but appreciative...his down-to earth quality and the repetitive self-deprecation make him all the more endearing, and the fact that he seems oblivious to his good looks only makes him more attractive. It would seem to some that Hogwart's golden-boy boy attributes may have spilled over into Rob's real life...because as far as his fans are concerned, he can do no wrong! Thank you Jed, for another winning article about Robert Pattinson! I look forward to seeing the entire Top 50 list as well as any more coverage you can give this one of a kind actor!

Pattinson is Mesmerising - my tip for the top
I too am unconvinced by Barnes and dont see a long term career for him. His looks have a huge part to play in the roles he's getting and I dont think there's much skill behind it to back up the looks. I think recent articles have been forgetting the bad reviews Barnes got for Caspian e.g in the Telegraph:
"The performances don't help. Barnes ...he appears to have modelled his accent on that of Spanish soap-opera actors, and has the stilted anti-presence of a papier-mâché model." Says it all. Sturgess looks cool so I can see why he's favoured by journalists - he has that rock star chic about him but I dont think we've seen much in his performances to back up the hype. He doesnt have that on screen charisma that I was expecting based on the hype. Someone who does have buckets of charisma is Pattinson. Until recently I;d have said a pretty boy and not much more but then I saw a couple of his performances and had to eat my words. He really is very good, surprisingly so for someone so young and relatively inexperienced. Go watch his performance in The Haunted Airman. Its a very mature and charismatic performance. He pitches the performance perfectly. His accent is flawless and I thought it a brave piece of acting. At times he does very little but that stillness is mesmerising and so right for the character. A beautifully observed character. I wont natter on about his other performances but suffice to say I've been impressed. He always gives a subtle, nuanced well thought through performance. He's also a very versatile performer - excellent at comedy as well as drama so a casting director's dream. He's certainly my tip for the top.

I'm glad to see the support for Rob. I think he's an amazing and original talent and very soon the world is going to realise it. I can see him having a huge career like DiCaprio.

Pattinson - radiates star quality
Barnes reminds me of a young Roger Moore (thats NOT a compliment). Sturgess I've never seen. Dont know who he is.
Pattinson is going to be a huge star following Twilight and then back up all the hype with some top quality performances in Little Ashes and How To Be. A wonderful actor - you cant take your eyes off him on screen. He radiates star quality. I'd love some info on Parts Per Billion.

I want to savour Pattinson's performances - he's got under my skin
Pattinson is the first actor in a long time who excites me so much that I'm searching for nuggest of information on his up and coming projects. I'm not alone either. He's that exciting a performer. I'm dying to know more about Parts Per Billion and see the Little Ashes trailer. When an actor gets under your skin that much you know they are special. Yes he's handsome but thats not why I'm frantically looking for information on these projects. I really am fascinated to see the performances. Savour his acting.

Pattinson is a refreshingly brave actor
I know nothing about Sturgess so cant comment. Barnes leaves me cold. Mr Plastic/elastic. He doesnt excite me in the slightest.
I dont think you can pidgeon hole Pattinson which is a very good thing for his career. He has obvious leading man looks but from what I've seen so far is happy to play against type. This reminds me of Depp or Di Caprio and I was interested to see Variety mention that Twilight could do for Pattinson what Titanic did for DICaprio. If Pattinson wasnt as good an actor that might be a silly comparison but actually its spot on as Pattinson loses himself in each character the way I'd say DiCaprio does. I hate comparing actors usually but in this case I see the similarities. Pattinson's a very brave and honest actor with no vanity and I think that will be a huge plus for him in his future career. So many young actors today are still keeping a watchful eye on their image. They dont make bold choices. Rob will do the exact opposite. Which again reminds me of Depp early in his career. Lets just say that I think Rob can straddle the industry like a young mix of Depp/DiCaprio which is a huge compliment in my books.

Robert Pattinson
Robert is truely one of the most talented, refreshing young actors out there today. It is impossible to not be captivated by his performances- the way he pours himself into his roles is so endearing.
Yes, Twilight will throw Robert into the spotlight, to which I am grateful for as he deserves to be there, but at the same time it's great that this site is also promoting his other work! Robert was wonderful in The Bad Mothers Handbook, and simply mesmerizing in The Haunted Airman, I really am looking forward to seeing How To Be and Little Ashes- I know he won't disapoint! It's great to see he isn't afraid to challenge himself in playing somewhat unconventional roles for a 22 y/o. Not only is he incredibly talented as an actor, he is also charming, witty and modest in his interviews, and little does he know that he really does not need to worry- we don't all just love the character Edward, we love Rob for who he is! Thanks to tMF for being so supportive of Rob

Pattinson all the way!!
Robert Pattinson would most certainly be my first choice. He always has been a fantastic actor and his latest role in Twilight proves this further. After having no training at all he entered into probably the main role in this film which requires an American accent. I have seen many clips from this film and I cannot find a flaw in his American accent which is normally thoroughly British. In my opinion he is the best out of these three.

Robert Pattinson is my favourite Actor!!!!!
Robert Pattinson is a God, he's got so much talent!! He's my favourite actor.. I loved him in Harry Potter as Cedric and in The Bad Mother's Handbook as Daniel and now he's playing my favourite character ever, Edward Cullen in Twilight.. I was so beyond happy to know he was going to play Edward, he's perfect for the role, I couldn't imagine anyone else as Edward and I think he'll do a absoutely fantastic job.. His American accent is flawless..
He's just shines so much light and wonder out of him.. He can play any part that he puts his mind to.. His beauty on the inside shines just as much as his dazzling beauty on the outside.. I'm so excited about his upcoming projects in How To Be and Little Ashes (not to mention Twilight) He's gonna become a huge star and he deserves so many great things..

Pattinson - wonderful actor
Pagan sex god - love that comment.
Sorry I'm another who hasnt got a clue who Sturgess is. I also saw Ben Barnes as Dakin and wasnt too impressed. He wasnt any where near as good as Dominic Cooper and I dont even think Cooper's a good actor. Pattinson hadnt crossed my radar until recently. I saw his name cropping up continually on sites and wondered who he was. Now I'm a big fan. I too think he's finding his style so its amazing to see that he's played every role I've seen so far brilliantly. You'd expect him to be off the mark with at least one but no - even in the Haunted Airman he pitches the delivery and movement of the character perfectly (a very difficult role). I hate how he plays down his ability because from what I've seen he's a remarkable 'character' actor in a leading man's body. I'd love TMF to interview him to find out how he builds the role. Is it the voice first or movement or does he need the wardrobe e.g some actors need a piece of clothing to get into the character. As a guess I;d say he works with the voice first. Watch the Haunted Airman again - it radiates the 1930's/40's. He's an actor who is brave enought to be completely still on screen without resorting to tricks to keep you watching them. Again watch the Haunted Airman for that. While the production is an acquired taste I truly think he gives a phenomenal performance. I was glad at least that the Stage back in the UK recognised how good he was in the role. I hope Little Ashes get sufficient release in the cinema so critics can properly appraise his performance. I think he needs to see that people are taking him seriously. He worked hard on Dali and I think praise for that performance would do his confidence a lot of good. He actually needs to work a lot now to get plenty of experience. Find his feet and test himself. Not all performances will work but its important for him to see how far he can push his skill. His versatility is awesome - he can radiate a warmth and vulnerability in performances like Daniel Gale and also a chilling coldness as Toby Jugg. Edward Cullen needs a bit of both so I'm fascinated to see how he does with Twilight. I think he's a brave actor with no vanity which is important. Willing to completely let go and become someone else. That will stand him in good stead in the future.

Rob Pattinson!
I am so glad that Rob is finally getting the recognition he deserves.
What I think appeals to me about him as an actor is not only his charisma on screen but the way in which he addresses his roles. He takes on the character and wants to portray them so they come out true on screen. I particularly liked his approach to the role of Edward in Twilight and I know he is going to do an exceptional job at playing one of my favourite fictional characters. He also took a character like Cedric Diggory (who isn't talked of much in the Harry Potter books) and made him more relatable. I was crying buckets at the end of Goblet of Fire (but that's just me). I also enjoyed his performance in The Haunted Airman. It wasn't a role you'd expect a 22 yo to play, but he did it with class. Definitely keep a look out for RPattz...he's got it all.

Rob, of course!
Rob is amazingly talented. He just didn't have chance and luck to show it. But now he does. See what he's done in Twilight as Edward Cullen. I was amazed when I first saw the twilight trailers.
Like others, when I heard the news he's Edward. I was like: "WHAT?! He's not Edward. He's Cedric." We all know people hated him in the beginning. But now, see what he's proved. He IS the Edward now. Everybody loves him, universally. Besides, Rob in How To Be is amazing. He can really act in different characters.

...
Jim Sturgess is no doubt the hottest and most talented. Ben and Rob havn't been in much. Though there both good looking, Jim has natural talent and has been in "Across the Universe" and was number 1 on the box office in "21". If you see his performance in "The Other Bolyn Girl", you can tell it comes naturally to him. He also the HOTTEST and MOST-TALENTED!!

Robert Pattinson
Robert is one of the most exciting, talented, versatile & refreshing actors I have seen. He puts so much into all his roles & it definitely shows. He has the ability to be able to convey so much with just one look. His performances in both 'The Bad Mother's Handbook' & 'The Haunted Airman' were outstanding & had me captivated from start to finish.
He is no doubt going to give an amazing performance as Edward in 'Twilight' & has clearly put so much work into bringing the character of Edward to life. 'How To Be' & 'Little Ashes' are 2 films that really excite me. From what we've seen & heard these 2 films are going to be wonderful & I am looking forward to seeing them so much. On top of being an amazing actor, Robert is also an extremely humble & down to earth person who has a great sense of humour. I look forward to all the amazing things that are to come for him. He deserves every single bit of the success that will be coming his way. Thanks so much Jed for the article & the support you have shown to Robert. I look forward to reading more in the future.

BEN BARNES
To me, a truly talented actor bleeds into the role so completely that his/her entire presence changes; not merely reciting lines convincingly, he/she actually BECOMES the role. Unfortunately, this gift is rare and grossly unappreciated. Is it because people desire familiarity over authenticity? Perhaps seeing their beloved actor's essence present in every role is unconsciously comforting. Or is it that they confuse entertaining for raw _acting_ talent? I myself have a long list of actors I enjoy greatly, even though they are basically the same in every role they play. However, I would be more inclined to call them talented "entertainers" than talented "actors." It's kind of like Britney Spears vs. Mozart regarding music. The former is fun enough, but the latter has skill that truly is the essence of the art.
Having only seen Ben Barnes as Caspian in "Prince Caspian," his little bit part in "Stardust," and his lead role in "Bigga Than Ben," (a role where he plays a young Russian man gone to London to seek his attempt at a paltry fortune), I can hardly say that I've had exhaustive experience observing his abilities. However, I can say that the three roles are extremely diverse, and it is in the subtleties that he lends each role that I think he really shines. Coming from a gal who will regularly recognize an actor by the cadence of their voice, the way they use their mouth, or even the way they stand far before recognizing their face or name, saying that I wouldn't necessarily have recognized Mr. Barnes from role to role is saying a lot. He conveys the essence of each character so completely and with another gem--dimension-- "Ben-Barnes-as-actor" disappears. Oscar Wilde was an incredible author, and if anyone will be able to convey the complexity, the angst, the fury of Dorian's psyche, it will be Mr. Barnes. Note, this is not to say that Barnes is perfect in every moment of his performances. Any artist has room to improve, after all. However, I sit with more confidence in him than I have had for actor in a loooooong time. I only hope he continues to take challenging, diverse roles which will showcase his gift as the Hollywood Humdrum pull grows stronger. Indeed, Depp is also a truly talented actor (not so much DiCaprio, sorry!), and if Mr. Barnes follows in his footsteps (minus a bit of Depp's raging quirkiness), the boy will do himself proud.

The light at the end of the tunnel... Robert Pattinson
I am very happy to see all the support for Rob.
He is, as everyone can clearly see, a very talented actor. In a world where reality tv and bad acting seem to be the norm, where music awards are filled mostly with noise that cannot qualify as music, it is truly wonderful to see talent like Rob Pattinson shine through. He has proved his versatility so far with How to Be, Bad Mother's Handbook, Haunted Airman, HP. I can only hope we will see him in more an more movies

TIMELESS
Robert Pattinson is timeless. His acting abilities far surpass those of the "up and coming" we see out there today. There is no doubt that he will obtain more fans from Twilight (and rightfully so) but as others have stated, I hope that they take the time to educate themselves about his prior roles. His portrayal of Daniel Gale (The Bad Mother's Handbook) is amazing. To bring such a naive, geekiness, loving character out of himself and make you forget that he once played a character like Cedric Diggory is truly a craft that he has perfected. It is demonstrated yet again, when he brings Toby Juggs, The Haunted Airman, to life as the conflicted airman that is, in my opinion, quite eerie..haunting.
I am very eager to see How To Be and Little Ashes. I am hoping that with the success of Twilight, the other film companies will be able to get these two films out there. The public should have the opportunity to see Rob in more diverse films. He has never played the same character, or type of character, twice. He brings something new and exciting for us fans to appreciate his talent more.. I am excited to see Twilight. He is more than a pretty face in this, however, I am sure that will help! He has depth and understanding of the character that SMeyer has painstakingly created and was able to find Edward's vulnerability, his inner demon's, if you will. As Rob's career grows and matures, it will prove over the next few decades that he is truly one of the timeless actors. I am glad that I was able to join in from the beginning to watch the transformation that will soon have everyone buzzing. ~L~

Hands down, Robert Pattinson.
Although Jim Sturgess was great in Across the Universe, and Ben Barnes was a great Prince Caspian, I have to say my pick is Robert Pattinson. Yes, I'm a Twilight junkie, but the thing that really impressed me is that he is also playing a young Salvador Dali in an upcoming move. THAT takes talent, Dali was a very interesting and dynamic individual, and in my opinion one of the most fascinating people in Art History. I'm looking forward to it.

Jim Sturgess has bright future
Actually no one knows what Twilight is in here and I heard this is a low-budget movie(I'm not sure it will released in my country). But I know Twilight is very popular among teen age girls in US.So I didn’t suprise these comments. If movie is good enough and gets good reviews,I think Edward Cullen's career will be take off.All I can say is this.
Unfortunately Ben Barnes's performance in "Prince Caspian" is slated by many critics. And I heard "Prince Caspian" is rather sited as "flop" in US. Maybe he is a good actor, but I'm not sure his future is bright or not.Time will tell. I think Jim Sturgess is very talented. He has a lot potential as both actor and singer. Also I heard Jim is really nice. And he's favoured by journalists. So if he choose his role carefully,I think his future will be quite bright. Excuse my English.

Robert Pattinson anytime!
I personally think he's going to blow everyone's mind!! I mean just look at him for god's sake! However I should add it's not just empty good looks... People should definitely watch him in "the bad mother's handbook" and "the haunted airman"! he delivers a flawless performance. He's just a natural!
Barnes...well i don't know...I haven't even watched Prince Caspian yet... And don't know abt the Sturgess guy either... Rob all the way! YAY!

Robert dazzles me.
Rob Pattinson has been catapulted into the spotlight as a result of his role as Edward Cullen in the upcoming Twilight movie. The huge Twilight fan base has inundated him with adulation that, frankly, makes him a bit uncomfortable. Once a fan base like this embraces an actor to such a degree, there is no turning back. I was one of the 6,500 screaming fans at Comic-Con, and I have no doubt that Rob will finish at the top of your poll, due in no small part to the Twilight fandom. I think Rob has what it takes to be successful beyond Twilight. In my opinion, his choice of movie roles from here on out will determine the magnitude of his “star” potential. I would not be surprised if Rob chose to become a “luminary” rather than a “supernova,” his demeanor is such that he seems to prefer the acting itself over all the hype. I do have to say that choosing between Pattinson, Sturgess, and Barnes is like trying to choose a favorite star in the heavens -- they’re all dazzlingly beautiful and extremely hot!

Robert Pattison is a very raw and refreshing actor. He convinces his audience of his role in every movie, which displays his versatility. He becomes and lives his character on screen.

Robert Pattinson a notch abouve the rest.
My choice without a doubt is Robert Pattinson. He has a very bright future ahead. He has the talent and look to get wherever he wants to go. I'm positive that after Twilight is released people who are yet oblivious to his talents will come to light. He's going to be a household name by December. Just wait and see.

Robert Pattinson is taking over!
I'm ecstatic to watch the buzz around Robert Pattinson. He deserves every bit of attention he's getting. He's an extremely talented and versatile actor. The emotions he delivers in a single glare or stare are incomparable. He's also very good looking, but that's just a bonus.

Robert
I have nothing against the other actors in the article. But Robert Pattinson has demanded my attention with his undeniable talent. When I first came across him in HP I was blown away. And he had a very small roll. I researched his other work since then, and I'm positive he has the potential to lead a career such as Depp or Di'Caprio. I dare say, even bigger and better.

Rob Pattinson
I think Rob will be the #1 on the Hottest actor list. He's very talented. He's a good actor, he's a good musician and he's totally funny and charming. He seems to be a ver down-to-earth person, which is quite cool. Sadly he has to play Edward Cullen for people to realize that. I can't wait for his next projects How To Be and Little Ashes. He's really good. No doubt, with his talent and the attention he gets at the moment, he will be the #1.

Rob Pattinson
Robert Pattinson will always be above the rest. People need to start getting used to the idea. Yes, some people will get to know him because of Twilight. And that's okay, the thing we have to pay attention to, is that he WILL be recognized after Twilight. Which means his other films will get more attenttion. That's all I want. Because "How To Be" and "Little Ashes" deserve the attention. Robert Pattinson will be #1.

Robert Pattinson will be on TOP!
Robert Pattinson. Gee where to start. He's incredibly talented with a very humble personality. He's going to shine through all the flakes in Hollywood right now. He deserves this more than any of them. It’s not his pretty face that hold are attention. He’s so much more than that.

Better than the rest.
I actually like all three actors. But the love start with Robert Pattinson. It's hard to describe why he captivates me so. His talent, his personality and his looks all wrapped in one. What more can you ask for? He's just better than everyone else. I don't know why, he just is.

NOV 21 proving all the nay sayers wrong!
Thank you for more Rob!
Of coarse Robert will exceed and surpass all our expectations. He's so talented, I can't even begin to explain it. Have any doubts be at the Theater Nov 21 and watch Twilight. Then come back and tell me otherwise. I dare you!

But Ben and Jim deserve credit too! Not only are they gorgeous, but extremely talented. I love that this article was written about these three because I have been obsessed with each for months!

He Dazzels me FREAQUENTLY
Robert Pattinson has just become my favorite actor and person in Hollywood. I'm not your typical fan girl. I’ve never been this way for anyone, I’ve never met. I don't know what he does to me, that keeps me glued to anything Robert Pattinson. I'm loving your site right now! Lots of Rob, thanks.

Robert Pattinson!
There's really no question about it. I also love Jim Sturgess and Ben Barnes, but they just can't compare to Robert. Case closed.

PATTINSON!!
Robert posesses amazing talent and is undoubtedly a great actor. He is the perfect Edward and will do a great job with the role. I've seen a few of his other movies, and in no way does he disapoint. And of course, how I could I forget to mention that every part of him just exudes sexiness!
,

I'd have to say Pattinson
TWILIGHT is going to send his profile through the roof, obviously...in a way it already has. But it's his acting talent that will captivate in the long run. Saw THE HAUNTED AIRMAN a couple of months ago, and I was just floored by his performance. A very subtle, sad, yet powerful performance. The film itself has it's problems, but he carries it with his haunted eyes, and his effecting narration. I've been wanting to see HOW TO BE for months now, as he seems to have a talent for comedy, and I can't wait for his Dali in LITTLE ASHES. I think Robert is the freshest, most exciting actor to come to Hollywood in years.

BARNEs!!!
Ben Barnes!
he is going to play many different characters like Dorian Gray,he's talented and better looking than the other 2 guys. I think that Robert is going to be always remembered as Edward from Twilight and that's a bad thing.

Its easy peasy - Pattinson
Different combinations of actors might not create such a white wash but to be honest Barnes is a poor actor (instantly forgettable in Caspian, his hair acted better) and Sturgess lacks that something extra which I can only call star quality. Its what all the top film actors have. Its an easy pick - Pattinson without a doubt. While I'm sure Twilight is no work of art (sorry Catherine Hardwicke) it will catapult Pattinson into a different league. But then Titanic doesnt stand close scrutiny either and look what that did for DiCaprio. Pattinson has picked his roles well to date and unless he goes off the rails I see no reason for him not to become a big Hollywood player. He has the natural ability, versatility and undeniable looks to make it big plus an underlying likeability factor which makes fans want to give their support - even cynical old me.

EQUALLY TALENTED!
I think they are all very talented and have very bright futures ahead of them. I first noticed Jim Sturgess in Across the Universe and have been nothing but impressed by his acting and filom choices. Ben is really talented and seems very down to Earth and friendly. Robert Pattinson is amazing and I cannot wait for Twilight and How to Be and Little Ashes. I can definitely see him being a big A lister and being in big movies and being a household name.
I think they are all very talented and special and there is no need to pick just one- they are all fantastic in their own ways!

Great Talent
I absolutely love Jim Sturgess. Believable, a true artist. I will look out for his future projects.
Robert Pattinson .. wise choices of films so far. The ability to adapt and change with each role he plays is uncanny. His life as he knows it... will be changing very soon. He is the one to watch, and I will be watching. Beautiful personality, and utterly ridiculously attractive.

Robert Pattinson - the sex appeal of a Brando/James Dean
I think Sturgess has talent but I'd agree he doesnt have the star quality necessary to sustain a top movie career. We all know its not just about being a good actor. Barnes - sorry I know he has fans but pleaseeeeeee. I'm not going to even go there or I'd need to swear.
Pattinson, has a good instinct for roles. He morphs completely into different characters. He's on the cusp of superstardom and actually has the talent to back it up. My only concern is that he sometimes comes across as a lazy so and so but to be fair works hard on projects so thats probably just me wanting him to sweat for his success. No pain no gain. As well as a ridiculous amount of talent he is amazingly sexy. Infact I cant think of an actor working today who radiates such sex appeal. Not even the big names like Depp/Di Caprio/Bale. He reminds me of the old sexy Hollywood movie stars. Brando/James Dean.

...
There's a whole lotta love out there for Robert Pattinson, which I don't think is necessarily misplaced, but I think you have to give Ben Barnes a chance. His most visible role has been in a movie that was largely aimed at kids and the readers of Narnia books. It wasn't meant to be a sexy, gritty, etc, kind of role, and so perhaps Barnes didn't have the chance to flex some of those acting muscles. I'll admit his accent was a bit ridiculous at times, but as a character he embodied Caspian for me and fleshed out in the movie what Lewis didn't in the book. What's more-- you've got to see him in Bigga Than Ben -- he so completely takes over that character you can't tell that it's Prince Caspian under there. I kept watching and waiting for him to break into something boyishly British, and it just never happened.
I'm a Twilight fan, and I'm excited to see Pattinson as Edward. However, it's Ben Barnes who has my attention.

Robert Thomas Pattinson
I pick him because he's the hottest! Heee...
Though Ben Barnes and Jim Sturgess are quite a very scoring actors. About Pattinson, I loved him since Harry Potter where he played Cedric Diggory. But his performance in Potter were so short to say he's the bomb actor. After awhile, I traced The Haunted Airman and The Bad Mother's Handbook. Both characters were different from each other and very VERY different from Cedric. In each movie I saw each variety he came up and somehow I actually believed he was the character. In the Haunted Airman, I actually conveyed his performance as marvelous. I almost believed he was Toby Jugg. Then How To Be came and again, a different role. He contrasted each character so well that by all means I only knew before only Johnny Depp could do such things. Of course, as a fan of Twilight I am excited to have him as Edward Cullen and in the trailers, I saw Edward Cullen who I never knew I could ever imagine. Like he was the real Edward Cullen. Then came a very difficult and controversial role such as Salvador Dali. I haven't seen any takes but I conclude that the fact he chose the role Dali was really brave. Only few actors could resume this. Pattinson finds variety in his roles and I believe, he'll be more than a hunkie in Hollywood. He's an A-list Star.

Rob Pattinson for President
I have to agree with most of the other comments... Rob blows the competiton out of the water. He's a talented actor, a great looking guy, and he's charming as hell (Metaphorically speaking). To fully understand his appeal you have to watch his interviews. He never says what you expect him to. I mean who else would dub themselves "Spunk Ransom" on the spot for an MTV interviewer? I'm warning you though; once you're a fan, he can become quite addicting... hence the ardent fan base.

Robert Pattinson
First off I would like to say thank you so much for this article. I love how this was about 3 upcoming British stars! I really do love everyone of them but I really do think Robert Pattinson will become a big name in Hollywood...I wasn't really aware of Robert, i mean i knew about Cedric from Harry Potter and the GOF but that was it. When Robert got cast as Edward Cullen, i hadn't really heard of him so I did some research and watched some of his previous works and I was truly impressed with every single one of them. And from the looks of it, Twilight could possibly be up there with some of the big blockbuster movies, which will bring Robert up into the Hollywood spotlight....well hopefully as I am one of the super crazy obsessed Twilighters who wishes the best for every single member of the Twilight cast. But also because I think How to Be and Little Ashes will be amazing and will probably make him even bigger... I am also a fan of Jim Sturgess, I just recently saw Across the Universe for the first time and I was amazed at how talented he was and I can't wait for more of his work!
Robert is #1!!!

Most of these comments are BIASED! Heres one thats not:
I think the real competition is between Sturgess and Pattinson. I doubt Barnes will last. Patterson did a good job in Harry Potter and we'll have to see if he can sustain a leading role in the upcoming Twilight. I think he has a future, but I see him in more commercial roles. Sturgess has impressed me first in Across the Universe (he has a great voice too) then again in The Other Boleyn Girl (My best friend has a thing for Scarlet Johanson, then again, who doesnt?) and also in 21. I look forward to both of their upcoming movies. Especially Sturgess', Crossing Over and 50 dead men Walking look very intersting. I think both have terrific onscreen Charisma, but no comment on hottness. That would just be gay. Literally.

Robert Pattinson all the way!
I think Robert Pattinson is the most talented because he has done many difficult roles like how to be, the haunted airman and i must say twilight becuase protraying a perfect male isnt very easy! Robert even closed onto others to see how edward cullen[twilight] felt! I also think that robert is a great musician and singer for he really puts his heart and soul into his music and role and i think heart and soul is what makes you shine!

Both Pattinson and Sturgess
Both Robert Pattinson and Jim Sturgess catch my attention 1. because they are brilliant actors and 2. because I haven't seen Ben Barnes in anything yet.
First, Robert Pattinson. I have to say that I was not to big a fan of him until after he got cast in Twilight. Truthfully, I didn't even want him in Twilight, but after he was cast, I watched his other work (besides Harry Potter) and was amazed by his skills. I'm glad that the article decided to talk about more than just his role in Harry Potter. You can't say much for Harry Potter because it was such a bit role and Pattinson did not have many lines. However, he expresses so much in his face and his actions that he does not often need to use words. The roles that really impressed me were those in The Haunted Airman and The Bad Mother's Handbook. Both roles show that he is very versatile and eager to avoid being typecast because of his role in Harry Potter. I am a huge Twilight fan though and excited to see him portray Edward Cullen in November. Second, Jim Sturgess. He captured my attention in Across the Universe, as he did with many others. As a result, Across the Universe is one of my favorite movies and he is one of my favorite actors. He is an incredibly talented actor. I saw him next in The Other Bolyen Girl, and even though the movie was a little lagging at times, Sturgess was great. He was commited, offering comic relief and devastating heart break. I still haven't seen 21, but will at one point because I want to see how much more versatility he has.

Robert bias - more than deserved.
Just wanted to comment on the Robert bias...I probably am biased. I saw Ben in Caspian, and wasn't too impressed. He did fine. True wasn't a really fascinating character, but then neither was Cedric, and yet Robert made him as household name. Sturgess was great in ATU, but that's it. That's all I've seen him in.
As for Rob in more commercial roles, well, I disagree but perhaps that's because I've seen more of him than just Cedric and Edward. I've watch the cut scenes of Vanity Fair. I watched him handle the role of Toby Jugg in The Haunted Airman, and I fell in love with his character of Daniel Gale in the Bad Mother's Handbook...I even made it through the not-so-good story of Ring of the Nibelungs...and even though again he had a smaller part in that, he outshone even the lead... And of course his two independent films coming out aren't at all commercial roles either. Art who's going through a quarter life crisis in How To Be; and Salvador Dali in Little Ashes, a role that I think will finally prove much to anyone in doubt of the presence this young actor will command from here on out. So, I'd say you're right about the bias, at least on my part. But, I think it's more than deserved.

Because he dazzles me.... FREAQUENTLY.
Robert Pattinson for the kill. He's really talented. And no I'm not just saying that because of his small role in HP or the Twilight trailers. He's so much more than Edward and Cedric. He's a diverse actor. If you watch his previous work and his roles to come in "How To Be" and "Little Ashes", you'll know what I'm talking about. He has so much to offer. His good looks are just part of the package. But that's not going to make him a huge Hollywood star. It's his undeniable talent that's going to carry him straight to the top.

FACT- God was showing off, when he made Robert Pattinson.
This is easy! Robert Pattinson of coarse. I want to send a huge thank you and many many many hugs to TMF, for all the wonderful Robert Pattinson coverage. I truly appreciate it, and I'm sure you've noticed many many many other people do as well. I also want to send a thank you in advance for the "Parts Per Billion" info you said you were going to try to get. I have confidence that, you will. Thanks again.

Jim Sturgess is the hottest!
I think Jim Sturgess has the edge. He got already some fantastic performances to prove it:
1. Across the Universe-he played the lead and even sang the songs of the Beatles. He was quite cool!; 2. 21- The Las Vegas thriller has an all-star cast and Jim did great, even with such stellar power as Kevin Spacey, he is the LEAD STAR! Says a reviewer: Although there were a handful of cliché parts of the movie, all in all it was excellently done. The visual effects were well done, and the acting on the part of Jim Sturgess, Kevin Spacey, and Kate Bosworth, was exemplary 3. The Other Boleyn Girl-he played one of the Boleyns and he rock! and comng up: Heartless! This will be Sturgess shwcase!!!

robertrobertrobertrobert!!!!!!!!
I fell in love with Robert Pattinson watching him play Cedric Diggory. He played Cedric exactly as I'd pictured him in my mind when I read the book. Sweet, mysterious, kind, haunted, and, of course- beautiful.
I was thrilled to see Pattinson cast in the film adaptation of "Twilight." He's such a chameleon, which I think will ensure he has a long career ahead of him. Just look at the picture you chose of him at the top of this article. It's hard to believe that's the same person that's in "Twilight"! He's really able to disappear into his roles, truly become a different character, and I tremendously admire him for that. I think Ben Barnes is lovely to look at, although he doesn't make me weak in the knees like Robert Pattinson, but I haven't seen him in enough roles. And Jim Sturgess does nothing for me. Robert Pattinson is IT for me.

Sturgess has a great voice and is a good looking guy but I dont think he's a particularly good actor. Just ok. Barnes I dont rate at all. Pattinson is the one to watch. He doesnt have such a good singing voice as Sturgess but is a much better actor. More versatile and I'd agree has a more timeless quality about him. This will all become clear in a few months when more of his work is released.

Like Pattinson and Stugess to work together - a latter day Newman and Redford
I'd love to see Pattinson and Sturgess work together. I could see them as a Newman and Redford partnership. Pattinson would be my Newman - thats high praise from me. Its high time the UK had its own equivalent to Butch cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Pattinson a delightful surprise
I'm bemused by the roles being offered to Barnes. Caspian should have been the kiss of death to his career. He has lady luck on his side at the moment but it wont last.
Sturgess has a niche market but as his role in The Other Boleyn testified to he is not a very versatile actor. While that hasnt stopped some actors getting to the very top (some just play variations of themselves in film after film), Sturgess doesnt have the charisma to make that leap. While Barnes is a flash in the pan, Sturgess will have a longer career but I really think that lack of versatility will ultimately hold him back.He seems a nice unassuming guy though and I wish him well. Pattinson is a huge surprise to me. Harry Potter is a double edge sword to him. It may have got him on some audition sheets but its not helped him be taken seriously as an actor with that fleeting apearance (but he was extremely charming in it and did all that was asked of him). However Twilight got me curious and after watching him in a variety of roles recently I was very taken with him. Daniel Gale and Toby Jugg couldnt be two more different roles and he inhabits each character perfectly. From what we've been able to see of How to be and reviews posted to date he again completely becomes Art. His interpretations have been very fresh and memorable. I thought about them long after I watched the productions and that to me is the sign of a very good actor. If the characer stays with you then you know they've done a good job. I'm very excited to see what he's done with Salvador Dali - if anything I'm more excited to see this performance than I am Twilight (I'm not a fan of Hardwicke's). Twilight of course will send his profile through the roof but I'm confident that he'll continue to choose parts carefully in future and give Messrs Depp and Di Caprio a run for their money long term.

Ben Barnes
To me Ben Barnes is not just the man that makes me go weak at the knees and all fan girl. He has the screen prescence and the knowledge of each character he portrays to be someone who will have longevity within Hollywood, sure he could go obscure and just take part in smaller roles. But somehow i dont believe he will do that. He has the talent and the "down to earth" appeal that Hollywood hasnt managed to corrupt yet.
Although i havent seen Bigga Than Ben i know that he will be brilliant in it, just as he will Dorian Gray. He has the versatility to play the action heroes as well as the down and out guys just trying to get by with what they have. So as others have said, he's "dreamy" or whatever, i highly doubt that he will be leaving our screens for a while. As for Robert Pattinson, i was surprised at his role in Harry Potter. Yes i'll admit i dont like the Potter films and i only recently watched the goblet of fire for the second time with my mum, but he knew his lines and didnt seem to get lost within the rest of the cast. For once someone in the childrens side of Harry Potter wasnt as wooden as Orlando Bloom. But thats my opinion! I haven#';t yet read Twilight although it is on my bookshelf waiting for me to finish my "Dostoevsky" book. But if i believe all the hype, the film may not be brilliant but im confidant that if this isnt the kiss of death for Pattinson, then he can only become just as big with the fan girls as Barnes. I'm a fan. And i can't wait for "How To Be" because for once someone in Hollywood who is younger than 25 can emulate awkwardness from within. Sturgess hasnt really inspired me much with his film choices, i stayed clear of "21" just for the premise so i cant judge his acting skills on that. However The Other Boleyn Girl i was shocked at the poor quality of all the acting, not just Sturgess. As much as i want him to be versatile, i doubt he can go any further in his acting limits.
