Right this minute, Eddie is one of the most exciting emerging actors and he's not keen on playing the usual boy-next-door roles. In fact, he prefers them dark and nasty. Reserve your sugary, no-brainers for someone else, Eddie Redmayne wants something entirely different. Says the actor:
These are just two of his upcoming features. The last we heard of Savage Grace, some critics had trashed the flick already, though most of them praised the performances of the leads, especially Moore and this guy! In this adaptation of the Pulitzer prize-winning novel by Natalie Robbins and Steven ML Aronson, Redmayne plays the gay son of Barbara Daly (Moore), a young woman who married someone beyond her social class, the heir of a very rich family. When he mentioned 'Elizabethan', he might be talking about his short role in Elizabeth: The Golden Age. Quite a small role (the Queen's failed assassin) yet he managed to shine. I dunno about you, but he seems perfect playing period characters - he got the looks and his trim fit body is perfect for those those fluffy sometimes boisterous costumes! Oh, the Tudor mention relates to another period flick, The Other Boleyn Girl - with two of the hottest chicks in movies - Portman (Natalie, no one else!) and Johansson (Scarlett. the pretender to Natalie's throne! Heh!). Redmayne plays their younger brother and from what we’ve heard, it’s another dream role for Redmayne. I’m afraid we’ll be turning our attention to him, rather than the other guy - the boring and sometimes inept Eric Bana.
This says a lot! Apparently, he like Kristen (to be seen next in Twilight with another awesome young talent, Robert Pattinson). - - -
- - - Going back a bit, we first heard of Redmayne from friends in the UK theatre scene. Not only did he play the most challenging and difficult parts, he managed to win awards (Best Newcomer at the Evening Standard Awards and the Critics Circle Theatre Awards.) As some of you maybe aware, the Old Vic in London is one of the most sought-after venues if you want to make it in theatre. A good number of emerging actors who are trying to build a career in movies came from there - Ben Whishaw, Andrew Garfield, Dominic Cooper, Ben Barnes, and Joe Anderson to name but a few…
Another flick we are on the lookout is Powder Blue featuring an ensemble cast that includes Redmayne, Forest Whitaker, Jessica Biel, Kris Kristofferson and Patrick Swayze. On a personal note, Eddie mentioned keeping a Sundance blog in order to keep track of his encounters at the film fest. We’d surely be one of the first to subscribe to that! Also, the actor listed some of his fave movies and we’re ecstatic to see that ‘The Beat that My heart Skipped’, ‘L Enfant’ and ‘Control’ belong on this list!

Thanks for posting this. I really enjoyed Eddie's performance in "The Good Shepherd" and then I saw him in "Elizabeth I.".
I'm looking forward to see more of his work. And I checked out his MySpace to see that "The Lion King" also is one of his favourite movies. So, more power to him!
