"It's funny," he continues. "Everyone asks me, 'Do you regret what you did?' And the answer is, fuck no. I mean, I think of myself as an entrepreneur, and I went about some of that the wrong way. But I've done more at twenty-two than most people do their whole lives. I partied my ass off. There were so many women. I smoked so much weed. Anyone says they regret that, they're full of shit. They're saying that to please other people. I don't care. I had a blast."

That's Scuz talking to Rolling Stone.

Nate Norman is just a 19-year-old small town kid from Idaho who came up with the idea of setting up a marijuana smuggling ring to transport drugs from Canada into the US—a business enterprise that would transform him into a $38 million drug lord. His story is about to become a film, entitled Kid Cannabis and it stars two awesome young actors: Chris Marquette who'll play Nate, and Cam Gigandet, who'll play his partner, Topher.

Chris Marquette is definitely ready for that elusive leading role. He's been giving such great performances in his recent films: The Girl Next Door, Alpha Dog, The Invisible, and The Education of Charlie Banks among others. But in all of these films, he played supporting roles. It's about time he gets to play the star in a cool movie, and I think this might be it!

Oh and yes, he's also in another cool movie called Fanboys. Set in 1998, the story tells of a group of friends who, eagerly awaiting the premiere of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, decide to break into Skywalker Ranch and steal an early print of the film. The reason: one of them is suffering from cancer and wishes to see the film before his death.

A road trip begins as the friends encounter William Shatner, obsessed Trekkies, and other colorful characters. Marquette will play Linus, the guy suffering from cancer.

Says Chris in an interview about being an actor, having to be one at a young age and competing with friends for the same roles:

It’s to the point what I have realized which is nice is that I have a really close group of friends and they’re all actors for the most part and they’re all actors I’m up against all the time. For the most part it’s nice. You get to know somebody well enough you understand that everybody’s in the same boat. You’re all floating at the exact same speed. Certain projects are good for one person and they aren’t good for another and that’s just what happens. I’ve tried out for stuff that I’ve absolutely loved and would die to do and like my best friend has gotten it. And it’s never been anything other than like cool, man like it’s you and I respect you and I’m glad that you’re doing it and I’m glad that’s it’s a talented person doing this and it’s not …it’s nice because as I kid I’ve grown up doing this and as an adolescent it’s so easy to get jealous and it’s so easy to envy somebody and it’s so easy for people to really turn against you over a project which after a long time you realize it’s not that important. You do movies, you keep going and you do them. Some seem like a big deal and they end up doing nothing, and some seem like nothing and they end up being a big deal. You really can’t tell so at a certain point your friends are the ones that matter and that’s sort of how I’ve kept it.

But it seems as if he's finally taking the lead!

Oh Yeah, It's About Time All Right!

Thanks for the write-up.

Couldn't agree more that Chris's time has come. He's paid his dues, worked his butt off for a decade and a half. And he's just such a rare talent. He's given some incredible, heartfelt, dramatic performances. And he's also funny as hell. Also, you won't meet a nicer guy in Hollywood. This could potentially be a big, big movie for him. He certainly deserves it.

I don't wanna nitpick, but...
written by TeeJay, July 02, 2008
... the quote used at the beginning of the article wasn't actually Nate Norman but one of his friends, Scuzz (Ben Scozzaro). The Rolling Stone article it was taken from reads:
Scuzz, meanwhile, avoided prison by going to boot camp; he's currently serving his time in a halfway house in Long Beach. We meet at a Jack in the Box near the garage where he works six days a week. Through the plate-glass windows, dun-colored mountains are visible in the desert haze. Scuzz hates the halfway house and his job. But he's still with his girlfriend, Crystal, whom he describes as a "down-ass chick," adding, "I almost got her killed, and she's still with me.

Other than that, cool article. Thanks for spotlighting Chris on your page, I'm always happy to see that he's gaining more recognition.

Hello Deb,

Yes, he certainly deserved the spotlight. His performance in The Invisible really got me thinking why this guy keeps on getting only supporting roles?

I hope we can add more info about him, and thanks for the link to your fab site. It certainly showcase Chris as the real talent he is.

More power!

Hi Teejay,

thanks for the heads up. It's my mistake. smilies/grin.gif
Fanboys MySpace

Thanks for fixing the quote, that's much better. smilies/wink.gif I have one more comment about the Fanboys MySpace. I don't wanna sound like a know-it-all, but we've been following the movie very closely for two years and we just know just about everything you can know about it as an outside fan. You linked the fanboysmovie MySpace as official MySpace page for the film. That page is not official. However, this one is: www.myspace.com/fanboysfilm

Also, thanks for linking our page as well, very much appreciated. smilies/cool.gif

tMF certainly has its eyes on a number of talented actors- Matthew Goode, Giovanni Ribisi, Nick Stahl and more. At the moment, we have below our latest profiles, with more coming up soon!

It would seem hard to talk about Casey Affleck without mentioning his brother Ben or vice versa. The brothers have been the subject of many articles - from their looks and their relationships to Ben’s decision to cast his brother in Gone Baby Gone and the completely different career paths both guys took on: Casey remained oblivious to the glamour and glitz of Hollywood, while Ben adjusted to the glare of being in the spotlight. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers - The 30-year old Irish actor is known for speaking his mind- he is quite vocal about a number of issues- from the failings of the film industry to dealing with directors with huge egos to the irrelevance of celebrities & the lack of real talent in some of today’s biggest box-office stars. Not many people are blessed with the opportunity to enter a deeply rewarding and exciting career. In the case of Michael Angarano, it has been like that since he was 5 years old. As a young model, he was exposed early to the hustle and bustle of a glam job. Not surprisingly, he began his successful transition into acting a couple of years later. [ read more ]

Kostja Ullmann: Taking on such a challenging role is not a new departure for the actor. After appearing in a variety of shows on German television, Ullmann was offered the role of Achim, one of the leads in Marco Kreuzpaintner’s Summer Storm. [ read more ]
