Spotlight of the Week
Written by Jed Medina
Expect the young, talented and gorgeous British actor Aaron Johnson to move up the Top 50 Hitlist rankings soon! Two big buzzes just in! - A prestigious premiere showing for Nowhere Boy (where Johnson plays the young John Lennon) at the 53rd London Film Fest, and a couple of clips featuring scenes and a supposedly trailer for his other high-profile film, Kick-Ass.

Over at ScreenTerrier, it was announced that his film, Nowhere Boy, is to close The Times BFI 53rd London Film Festival.:

Sandra Hebron, the festival’s artistic director, said: We’re delighted to be closing our festival with the first feature by Sam Taylor-Wood, who brings her customary sensitivity and visual flair to this story of the formative years of one of the UK’s cultural icons.”

Taylor-Wood added: “For Nowhere Boy to be chose to close the London Film Festival, in a city I grew up and which continues to inspire me is truly amazing.”

GettheBigPicture just blogged about the leaked Kiss-Ass trailer, where Aaron Johnson plays the lead. The said clips were reported to have been shown at the Comin Con and a Russian film site posted the video. While it's not high-quality, I like the movie! But beware the violence and the profanities, which are to be expected since the original source - the comics - were known for those!

Here's more on why Aaron is just the young actor on the spotlight. Reports the Mail:

This year is when he could become huge, taking the lead in ’s gritty superhero film, Kick-Ass.

‘I feel I’m in the firing line again,’ he says. ‘It was hard enough to live up to this idealised guy in Angus – I spent hours in make-up to make me look like a sex god and now there’s Kick-Ass. If I don’t portray the character as it’s written in the books, there will be a lot of upset comic fans.’

He’ll also be seen soon in The Greatest, in which he plays the son of Susan Sarandon and Pierce Brosnan, but it could be his next project – playing John Lennon in Sam Taylor-Wood’s Nowhere Boy – that causes the biggest stir.

‘I’ve got a lot of singing coaching, guitar lessons and dialect training coming up before filming starts next month,’ he says. ‘I’m glad I’ve got a bit of time to work on everything, but it’s still pretty daunting. I get the biggest buzz just doing my thing. I’m really nervous going to premieres and doing interviews – I get the shakes and feel nauseous, it drives me crazy. But if I’m filming, being a character and hiding behind a mask, then I’m fine.’ [ read more ]
