With the anticipation for the release of 500 days of Summer building up, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is definitely making the biggest buzz this 2009! Of course, his role in G.I. Joe is perhaps the one getting the biggest buzz. Then there is the news (via Entertainment Weekly) that he's been cast alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page and Cillian Murphy in the next Christopher Nolan film (entitled Inception). - - -
- - - I was having some difficulties accepting the notion that perhaps Joseph Gordon-Levitt might have surpassed his performances in Brick and Mysterious Skin via 500 Days of Summer. But any second thoughts were erased upon watching Marc Webb's initial foray into filmmaking... Here's what the movie is all about:When Tom, a hapless greeting card copywriter and hopeless romantic, is blindsided after his girlfriend summer dumps him, he shifts back and forth through various periods of their 500 days "together" to try to figure out where things went wrong. His reflections ultimately lead him to finally rediscover his true passions in life. Joe expressed his views re: Hollywood's formula for love stories/romance: Most of what Hollywood presents as love is false," said Gordon-Levitt. "It's pandering to an audience. It basically tells the audience what they want to hear instead of telling them the truth. I'm proud of 500 Days of Summer because I don't think it does that. I think it's an honest look at what it is to be in love and fall out of love. On the Nolan flick, I just loved how Gawker blogged about Levitt: The ridiculously attractive (if charmingly pretentious) Joseph Gordon-Levitt has replaced the ludicrously attractive James Franco in Christopher Nolan's next film, Inception. Pic stars Leo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, and lesbian Hollywood's vice-president, Ellen Page. [ read more ] Is 2009 Joe Levitt's year? I just think so, and I bet some of you might disagree, but what the heck, the guy deserved it more than anyone else! |
