| Joe Anderson in a roller coaster ride! |

Joe Anderson seems to be getting a lot of meaty roles lately - in fact, he's cast in 5 new feature films, including Amelia (about the legendary American pilot Amelia Earhart to be played by Hilary Swank) and High Life (a dark comedy about four morphine addicts plotting a daring bank robbery). - - -
- - - Long before mainstream audiences noticed him in Taymor's Across the Universe, Anderson already made quite an impression in Agnieszka Holland's Copying Beethoven, where he played the artist's rebellious and philandering nephew, Karl van Beethoven. He was also quite memorable (and naughty!) in Becoming Jane, where he played the brother of Jane Austen (Anne Hathaway). In High Life, he gets to play another remarkable role as one of the four bank robbers. The movie also stars Timothy Olyphant. Here's the trailer (I'm pretty sure, you'll be amazed, if you haven't seen it yet!) - - -
- - - Here's an excerpt from an interview he did regarding the movie. I was in L.A. at the time, and the script was around, and I think Tim Olyphant was already onboard at this stage, and my agent just said, "Have a read of the script and see what you think." So I had a read, and I loved it. Next thing I know I was talking to Gary (Yates), the director, and we just hit it off. Says Joe about becoming involved with the film. He was also asked how he prepared for his role, as Donnie, one of the thieves: You mean how did I prepare to play thief who is a morphine addict and a hypochondriac? Well, you know, I am a bit of a hypochondriac, and I'm quite erratic, so I'm sure that goes along with some of that. But for me, it's really more about what you lose from yourself, and what you keep, as opposed to trying to stick things on top of yourself. It's like playing a drunk or playing people with problems; if you play the result then people won't believe it. People with problems tend do their best to hide them. Drunk people try and act sober. So if you try and do your best to hide that you have a problem, then the problem will come through in a real way. More of this Q & A via Joe Anderson.com Stay tuned for more of Joe Anderson!
