Ice Cream Man (ICM) fansite did wonders for Rupert Grint's Cherrybomb!

tMF affiliate site Ice Cream Man (ICM) is credited for successfully securing the release of an indie film entitled Cherrybomb, starring Rupert Grint. ICM is, of course, the definitive site for anything and everything about Rupert Grint.

Reports the Telegraph:

Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, has taken on a very different role in Cherrybomb, which is a coming-of-age film featuring sex and drugs set in Belfast.

The film premiered at the Berlin Film Festival but did not get picked up by a distributor. However, Grint's Potter fans have stayed loyal to him and set up an online campain for its cinematic release.

Supporters as far away as Mexico and Los Angeles contacted The Little Film Company, Cherrybomb's sales agent, to enquire about its release. And the campaign has now paid off.

Backed by a website petition and Facebook group with more than 10,000 people, producers say they have secured a major distributor in Britain. [ read more ]

The team at ICM are dedicated and hard-working people, so when I first heard the news about the campaign, I'm already looking forward to a toast for its success.

Says ICM, providing more perspective to the campaign:

Things might look a little quiet on the outside but on the inside Rupert Grint's army is steadily at work promoting his latest indie flick "Cherrybomb". We became involved with the film from the very beginning and months later the buzz is still going! Since our campaign began earlier this year the film has been featured at additional screenings, and now we have learned that it is to be shown at the American Film Market this November. This is a closed affair to the industry professional who might be interested in sealing the deal! What do we need to do? We need more ideas for fresh and innovative campaign ideas so by the time they watch the film they will want to pick it up and distribute it. Let's work together and put the waiting finally to an end!
