o each his own. That's the second time I said that. Anyway, I'm referring to this young actor's reaction about the casting of High School Musical, the lead role eventually went to Zac Efron, and as they say, the rest is history.... But let us look back at one of the actors considered for the part of Troy. He's currently featured at GQ and it seems he got a lot of great stuff up his sleeves...

[The part of Troy] was down to five guys and then I got offered a part in this amazing Robin Williams movie. And I thought to myself: Fly to Vancouver and meet the director for this Robin Williams movie, or stay and finish the auditions for the Disney Channel movie? So I didn't even go to the last audition. I heard a rumor that I was their favorite, but I never made it to the end. I mean I would have had a blast doing it. But I'm so happy for Zac, he's the only guy for that. [ read more ]

I've heard of Hunter Parrish before but this is the first time I actually made a serious effort to learn more about him.

Continues the article...

Sexy "Weeds" star Hunter Parrish claims he almost got the part of Troy instead of Zac Efron in the mega-successful Disney movie, "High School Musical."

Parrish, who plays Mary-Louise Parker's oldest son Silas in the edgy HBO series, tells GQ magazine that if circumstances were a bit different, he would have been under Disney's roof instead.

Weeds: Playing the Part-

Reports CollegeMovieReview: In 2005, shortly after moving out to stake his claim in Hollywood, Dallas native Hunter Parrish got offered a career-defining role as Silas Botwin in Showtime's critically acclaimed series 'Weeds.'

Though the show was still in development at the time and very few people outside the realm of 'The West Wing' had ever heard or noticed the show's lead cast member Mary Louise Parker, Parrish felt confident about his part, knowing that the show was something unique.

"I actually auditioned for the part and didn't hear anything for like four months," Parrish recalls. "Then, one day I got a call and they were like, 'Do you remember that show a while back? Well you are going to go back and read for it. It is between you and one other guy.' It was weird but very exciting." [ read more ]
