Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds will hit theaters in a few hours, and they want us to tweet it up. I'm sure it'll give Tarantino some record of sorts at the box office and even without a promotion, I'm pretty sure it will receive its share of tweets. QT's fans will make sure of that!
A recent hit, which also received a great boost from the positive tweets is the Peter Jackson produced District 9. Even James Cameron's Avatar, which is still in production, was not spared as the promotional site made a 'debacle'. Says Adam Ostrow at Mashable:
It's the problem of not properly estimating people's expectations, I guess... Oh, remember Bruno? Yeah right... Adds Stan Schroeder also at the awesome social media guide site:
Talk about the power of social networking. The great thing about this is that even if you've read a bad review of an upcoming movie and you've seen it too and disagree with the reviewer, you can tweet the same and even launch a campaign to promote the movie, that is if you're influential enough in the twitter universe. Why would people simply believe the tweets? With or without tweeter, a bad movie will remain what it is all along... a bad movie and people know that. That goes with a good movie too. I've seen Bruno, and just like the review posted by Jeremy here, it's not as impresive as Cohen's previous movie. District 9 (read our review by Blake Griffin) is a welcome surprise for me. I know a lot of people recommended the movie via twitter and while it got me interested, one simply cannot assume that District 9 is now a box office success simply because it received a lot of tweets. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is - the movie is awesome, and that's it. - - - There are so many Twitter related sites, and more will be launched soon. Trending seems to be one of the most interesting topics. For viewers interested in some movie/ celebrity Twitter sentiment, there's TweetFeel, and I love the way they do things over there! I've checked a couple of movies, and the latest reactions from Twitter users. Its about time we have something like this! - - - What's on your mind? Are you going to watch Inglourious Basterds and tweet about it later? How about District 9? Oh, are you using Twitter? Let us know what you think! - - - |
