Welcome!

On behalf of the team, welcome to the How To Be Promotional Blitz site!

Let us tell you about the site.  Initiated by tMF (the Movie-Fanatic), this promotional site is the work of volunteers who aim to provide a much-needed buzz for filmmakers Oliver Irving and Justin Kelly initial movie offering, How To Be.

With a cast that includes Robert Pattinson, Rebecca Pidgeon, Jeremy Hardy, Johnny White Mike Pearce and Powell Jones, the movie is a comedy about Arthur, a twenty something who moves back in with his parents, hits a quarter-life crisis and enlists the help of a self-help guru.  It's a timely look at the increasingly common phenomena of grown-up children living at home, frustrated creativity and self help.

In the Independent Film world, we know that sometimes these wonderful films don't always get the recognition and distribution they deserve. However, in doing a little research I found that occasionally fans can help remedy this.

How, you ask? It could be as simple as clicking 'send' on an email. Oh! Well look here...a letter, already drafted up and itching to be sent to movie theatres and film distributors... [ read more ]

MTV Talks About Robert Pattinson as Art
Written by Tracy Garrett

MTV did an article on performances from Twilight cast members that haven't been seen yet. They had a chance to speak with producer Justin Kelly and ranked Pattinson's portrayal of Art at number three:

3. Robert Pattinson in "How To Be"

pattinson-cemetry-portrait-300In the months since RPattz's career explosion, this tiny independent film has become a phenomenon. Filmed in early 2007, the flick stars Rob as a young musician seeking wisdom from a self-help guru — and "Twilight" fans have been traveling hundreds of miles for its current cinema tour." Cinequest we just did; it went really well," producer Justin Kelly said of a recent date at a San Jose film festival. "It's insane; people fly across three states to see it. It's fantastic."

Where to See It: The Independent Film Channel's Festival Direct service will make the film available April 29 on cable providers Bright House, Cablevision, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Insight and Time Warner. "We're supporting IFC's release with the cinema tour," Kelly explained.

Further information about the cinema tour will be coming soon from the producer. Be sure to sign up for their newsletter.

Yet another sell-out for How To Be. The Australian premiere of How To Bee at the University of Technology in Sydney in Australia on 28 March has sold out. The organizers had this to say at their blog:

We're sorry to inform you that there are no more tickets left for the Sydney 'HOW TO BE' screening. Any ticket purchases after this moment will be refunded.

Thank you for your overwhelming support and enthusiasm for this movie. It might be a small movie, but it has a huge heart...and we are very very proud at how far this film has gone.

We hope that you'll enjoy it as much as we do!

See you at the screening, and thank you very much for all your support.

A big congratulations to Shanna and Cilla who have been working really hard to get this screening together!

The folks at Dreamboat Records initially thought they would be taking pre-orders for the How to Be soundtrack starting on March 1st.  That has been delayed somewhat, but for good reason.  The filmmakers have updated the How to Be Facebook and official site with the following information:

We are pleased to announce that the How To Be soundtrack, featuring tracks by Robert Pattinson, is getting a wider worldwide release than we had originally planned. Unfortunately this means that we’ve had to move the release back a little, but the good news is that you wont have to wait very long. The record will be available to pre-order on the Dreamboat Records website soon; we’ll be announcing the exact date in the next few days.

Updates will be coming very soon.
