Welcome!

On behalf of the team, welcome to the How To Be Promotional Blitz site!

Let us tell you about the site.  Initiated by tMF (the Movie-Fanatic), this promotional site is the work of volunteers who aim to provide a much-needed buzz for filmmakers Oliver Irving and Justin Kelly initial movie offering, How To Be.

With a cast that includes Robert Pattinson, Rebecca Pidgeon, Jeremy Hardy, Johnny White Mike Pearce and Powell Jones, the movie is a comedy about Arthur, a twenty something who moves back in with his parents, hits a quarter-life crisis and enlists the help of a self-help guru.  It's a timely look at the increasingly common phenomena of grown-up children living at home, frustrated creativity and self help.

In the Independent Film world, we know that sometimes these wonderful films don't always get the recognition and distribution they deserve. However, in doing a little research I found that occasionally fans can help remedy this.

How, you ask? It could be as simple as clicking 'send' on an email. Oh! Well look here...a letter, already drafted up and itching to be sent to movie theatres and film distributors... [ read more ]

US Magazine discusses the How To Be soundtrack
Written by Tracy Garrett

How To Be continues to garner a lot of mainstream press this week.  US Weekly did a short blurb on the film's soundtrack:

Robert Pattinson Sings Three Songs in Indie Flick How To Be

Robert Pattinson sings three songs on the soundtrack of his new indie movie, How to Be.

The flick -- which stars Pattinson as a guy experiencing a quarter-life crisis after getting dumped by his girlfriend -- premieres on April 29 on the Independent Festival Direct movies-on-demand channel.

The 23-track soundtrack hits stores the day before.

The actor also -- who also plays the guitar -- sings two songs on the Twilight soundtrack as well.

"Music is my backup plan if acting fails," Pattinson told the Los Angeles Times in February.

The How To Be Soundtrack will be released on April 28th, but you can order the CD as a pre-sale at Dreamboat Records now.

E!'s Marc Malkin Talks How To Be

Marc Malkin, a columnist for the cable channel E!, discussed Robert Pattinson and How To Be and the film's tour in an article today:

- - -

pattinson-carecentre with guitarI know it may be hard to believe, but Robert Pattinson isn't only about bloodsucking and fangs.

Before Twilight and New Moon, our fave movie vampire made the indie comedy How to Be...

Pattinson stars in the quirky flick as Art, a twentysomething young man who moves in with his parents after being dumped by his girlfriend. Feeling he's hit an all-time low—he works in a supermarket and an assisted-living home—Art ends up hiring a live-in self-help guru.

Art is is also a struggling musician so it's no wonder Pattz is featured on the movie's 23-track soundtrack. He sings not one, but three songs.

The movie, which has been making the rounds of the film festival circuit with appearances by Pattinson and director Oliver Irving, will be released through IFC Festival Direct on April 29.

MTV reports on How To Be's TV Debut

Cable powerhouse MTV did an article on How To Be'stelevision debut on IFC April 29th, and also discussed the upcoming soundtrack:

Robert Pattinson is coming to a television set near you — not as the "Twilight" vampire we've all come to know, but as Art, a struggling singer/songwriter trying to get over a breakup in the indie comedy "How to Be." MTV News exclusively reports that IFC Festival Direct will be showing the film on demand beginning April 29.

The 22-year-old actor not only stars in the film but also performs three original songs on the soundtrack, which will be released on CD and as a digital download through iTunes and other online retailers on April 28.

"How to Be" follows Art as he moves back in with his parents post-breakup and hires a full-time self-help guru to help him work through the pain and become "more normal." The film was written and directed by newcomer Oliver Irving and also stars Rebecca Pidgeon. It premiered at the 2008 Slamdance Film Festival.

The soundtrack is a 23-song collection. In addition to Pattinson's three tracks, the disc includes songs from Love, Captain Beefheart and the Roches. A 12-page booklet featuring song lyrics and never-before-seen "How to Be" photos will be included in both the CD and digital versions. The CD also comes with one of two movies posters.

But perhaps the best news of all for Edward Cullen fans is that 250 people who preorder the CD directly from Dreamboat Records before April 28 will be selected at random to receive a booklet poster personally signed by Pattinson.

All right, you "Twilight" diehards: On your mark, get set, go!

Los Angeles Station on the Burbank Film Festival
Written by Tracy Garrett
Wednesday, 25 March 2009 16:57

Los Angeles' NBC affiliate discussed How To Be's in their article about this Saturday's upcoming Burbank Film Festival.

No, it is absolutely not true that Los Angeles has a film festival happening, all year long, on every weekday ending in "y" (or weekend day starting with an "s").

It is mostly true, however, that our city has more film festivals than most places, and the Burbank International Film Festival, unspooling through Sunday, March 29 at Woodbury University, has some great flicks, a host of music videos, panels on networking and casting, and a gala hosted by the fabulous Fred Willard.

The festival itself points out that Burbank is the nexus for much of the entertainment created, which is true, so it makes perfect sense to us that it should host a celebration of the final product. Full circle, and all that.
