An iconoclast. That's the term many fans and writers are using to describe filmmaker Terry Gilliam. With such films as ‘Time Bandits', ‘Brazil', ‘Baron Munchausen', ‘The Fisher King', '12 Monkeys', ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas', ‘The Brothers Grimm'... no one can say that Gilliam's work is anything but his. - - -
He was asked recently about how his films are almost always received with mixed reviews, and that more often than not, many change their minds and love it upon second viewing:
Now, from Gilliam's resource site Dreams, comes the news of an upcoming film:

Teaser Trailer a Hit @ AFM!
Terry Gilliam’s brilliant “Imaniginarium” trailer hot at American Film Market with Ledger, Plummer and Waits Headlining
The hottest trailer at the just opened American Film Market has to be Monty Python alum Terry Gilliam’s “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus,” which looks as whacked out as the writer-director’s own legendary imagination. Gilliam does a voice over for the trailer, which reveals, primarily in sketch form, the outrageous fantasy world the film will be set in. It’s Cat in the Hat on acid meets Willy Wonka trumped by Gilliam. It made you want to stand in line for tickets now, and it doesn’t start shooting in London until December. One of the producers also happens to be Terry Gilliam's daughter. Here is a quote from her about working with her father: Amy Gilliam added, “This fun and humorous story about the consequences of our personal choices in life will resonate worldwide. I am excited by the opportunity to collaborate with my father – whose unique vision will transform this timeless story into a creative spectacle.” You can read the full article here: Source: Hollywood Today

Heath + Andrew Garfield!
Thanks Jan for this exciting news! I'm looking forward to this new film, as you can see, we have Terry Gilliam's article here courtesy of Dreams. Its a short article but I think he was quite frank about his feelings regarding how his film, Tideland, was treated quite unfairly. I have not seen the film, but I would love to order the DVD in amazon.

...
I too am looking forward to this film, and it sounds intriguing. I'm especially eagar to see Heath Ledger in this as well. I've not seen any Andrew Garfield films, but look forward to seeing him in this too.
I'm somewhat of a novice, when it comes to Gilliam films. His films overall, seem to bring many different kinds of opinions--good and not so good. I have to say, that it certainly speaks volumes, when an Oscar nominated actor like Heath Ledger has said that he would jump at the chance to work with Gilliam again in one of his movies. I will be following its progress closely.
