Every Monday, tMF gives you a rundown on who's making the biggest buzz among the current crop of young talents, based on the hottest news about upcoming movies, awards and nominations, magazine covers and interviews, and special appearances on festivals, talk shows and upcoming TV series or just from anything that make fans more excited about movies! [ September 8 2008 Edition ] Others in the running were: Aaron Johnson, Michael Cera, Colin Morgan and Emile Hirsch. - - -
Taking the third spot is one of Disney's biggest stars and definitely one of today's most promising young actors, Zac Efron. The Buzz: Early reviews of his latest movie, Me and Orson Welles, are convincing a number of serious moviegoers that there's more to Zac than playing cute and singing in High School musicals. But what's wrong with singing in movies? If you think about it, there are but a few actors who can really sing and act well and definitely Zac Efron is one of them. Ever imagine Shia LaBeouf trying to sing? Zachary David Alexander Efron will also be seen in another high-profile film (think Keanu Reeves in his TV movie called Young Again) entitled Seventeen Again. Is he following the footsteps of the Matrix actor? We just hope Zac gets serious about his roles and remains consistent throughout. - - -
In second place is British heartthrob Robert Pattinson. Says a fan: "As well as having a ridiculous amount of talent, he is amazingly sexy. In fact, I can't think of an actor working today who radiates such sex appeal. Not even the big names like Depp / Di Caprio / Bale. He reminds me of the old sexy Hollywood movie stars. Brando / James Dean." I don't know if you agree with that but if Pattinson's board at IMDb is any indication, then those who remain clueless about the actor's magnetic appeal are in for a big surprise. The Buzz: With the November 21st premier of the movie Twilight, fans are preparing for a dizzying number of get-together parties - both before and after - the movie's showing. As the larger-than-life Edward Cullen, young girls are willing to allow this sexy vampire to drink their blood and make them one of the undead. Pattinson is also taking a serious route as an actor with two indie films scheduled for release - Paul Morrison's Little Ashes and Oliver Irving's How To Be. - - -
The Buzz: Says theatre designer John Napier on Daniel's appearance at Broadhurst Theater: "If you put Harry Potter on the stage with people directly in front of him, you're likely to get a lot of screaming young girls, particularly when he takes his kit off. It was a very sensible decision for us to raise the audience up. There's more of a barrier." Equus officially opens at the Broadhurst on 25 September. But is that enough to grant him top spot? I would definitely think so, and here's another thing going for Radcliffe - the latest issue of Details magazine has him on the cover again. Yes, that's right. This is his second cover for the popular men's mag and what's so interesting about the cover is that there's an interview inside that quotes Radcliffe speaking in a very honest and forthcoming way. How's that, you might ask? Well, he only briefly mentioned his interest in playing a drag queen among other things. More controversial news is available at IMDb. To top that, his next movie is a big departure from playing a boyish wizard. Entitled Journey, Radcliffe plays Dan Eldon, a British-born photographer who spent his childhood in Kenya. His photographs of refugees from the Somalian civil war led to his employment with Reuters, who sent him to Somalia in 1992. His pictures helped draw the world's attention to the crisis, but on 12 July 1993, while covering the story that UN forces had accidentally killed 74 civilians, he and three colleagues were stoned and beaten to death by a furious crowd. - - - What's on your mind? Daniel Radcliffe has a great maturity about him and has done very well in his career. I believe long term leading roles will go to Robert. Rob has something that Dan does not have...I hate to use this phrase, but sex appeal. I don't see Rob just as a sexual object, so to speak. There is more to him than that...
I have to give it to Dan in the interview department. He has a quick wit about him and shows great confidence. Rob has a litte work to do, but it will come with time. Rob is the one to watch! I can't help it, but I want Rob to do well.

Of course, I gotta go with Robert...
But I can't argue with anything to do with Daniel. As Rob once said of his Goblet of Fire co-star, Daniel has been so consistent throughout all the Harry Potter series...and is very good. I'm sure he'll just continue to get better.
However, Rob is just unique. He's got the talent AND the charm. He's endearing and has no idea why. So, he's #1 in my book, and in many others as well, clearly. Very much looking forward to How To Be and Little Ashes...

LOL, at all the Rob comments but I can't help but to agree that he should be number one. I do believe that Daniel is a great talent, and he should be up on the list because he has quite some buzz, but Robert is getting much more attention comparatively for being more of an emerging talent still. Well, he has been in the business for a while but not as many people have seen all of his roles, especially the UK roles that are harder to come by in the US. I recommend The Bad Mothers Handbook for anyone who wants to see another facet to Rob's acting talent, though I have to mention a lot of peoples favorite Rob role so far is The Haunted Airman. Also, he does have sex appeal like so many mention but he has the talent as well. As soon as people come to see it, which I believe it will be demonstrated in his upcoming roles of How to Be and Little Ashes, I think he will get more buzz, more covers and even more attention! So I guess I am saying even if he is not number one on the list today, he certainly will be number one on many more lists to come!

I'm a little surprised he wasn't at number one though, I mean Daniel Radcliffe got all the buz years ago when he was first cast as Harry Potter, but right now, I believe the world revolves around Robert Pattinson.

Yep...I'm one of those crazy thirty-somethings that is on Team Edward (Robert Pattinson). While I am a Potter/Radcliffe fan, and I don't dislike Mr. Efron, Rob's got it all. I can't wait to see his career take off.
