One of the most anticipated movies this year is Jumper, starring Hayden Christensen, Jamie Bell and Samuel L. Jackson. It's an awesome sci-fi thriller, the only spoiler is having Hayden Christensen play the lead. - - -
- - - I can't help it but I think Tom Sturridge could have played Davey (the lead character) better. Not that Hayden Christensen is a bad actor - he's not. He was quite decent in Shattered Glass, the true story of a young journalist who fabricated the stories he wrote for a political journal. But he sucked big time in Star Wars, not to mention the recent disaster, the absurd and inept Awake. He simply doesn't ring any bells for me - and I'm not talking about Jamie Bell if that's what comes to mind! Bell rocks and he has proven this time and again. It would have been great to see two outstanding Brits fight it out in this sci-fi film. Based on the Steven Gould novel, Jumper tells the story of a young man from a broken home who discovers that he has the ability to teleport. In his quest to find the man he believes is responsible for the death of his mother, the kid draws the attention of the National Security Agency and discovers another kid with the same abilities. If it's any consolation, Sturridge will play one of the leads in the upcoming movie Maestro. Set in the 1960s in the Australian outback, "Maestro" is the story of a young pianist (Sturridge) and his piano teacher (Klaus Maria Brandauer). Tom Sturridge was awesome in Like Minds, a psychological thriller where he pitted talents with yet another talented British actor, Eddie Redmayne. It would have been great to see Bell and Sturridge onscreen together. They are two outstanding young actors who have played some very interesting roles in recent years. - - -

- - - Tom's photos were taken by the awesome image-maker and photographer, Nicolas Hidiroglou, who has also done some incredible portraits of actors Adrien Brody, Romain Duris and Melvil Poupaud, among others.

I absolutly AGREE. Looking at all the trailers, and knowing that Tom could have been the one I could've been watching on screen, makes me very angry!
Yes, Maestro is a bit of a consolation, but.....it's not the same.

I agree
Tom would've been AMAZING! I'm still really upset that he's not the lead, and I refuse to watch Jumper now. Tom's performance in Like Minds was perfect, much beter than any of Hayden's that I've seen. Is is true that Teresa Palmer was replaced by Rachel Bilson? Tom Sturridge and Teresa Palmer replaced by Hayden and Rachel? I just don't understand.
And to conclude this long rant of a comment, do you (jedmed) know any current info about Maestro? I can't find any, I thought it was supposed to be released 2007!

...
I have mixed feelings about Tom Sturridge being the (hypothetical) lead of this movie. I've read really bad reviews about 'Jumper' and I would hate to see Tom in anything bad. He has too much talent and to think it would go to waste in a crap film would be incredibly sad.

tom sturridge is an amazing actor and I feel that if he was in jumper then he whould get famous for all the wrong reasons. He was amazing in like minds so I think that he is more suited to more testing and complex roles, then again if anyone has read the book twilight wich will be out in December, then you would agree that he would have been better at the role of Edward Cullen. plus we whould have more fun looking at Tom.
