The updated Top 50 Hottest Young Actors list now launched! There has been a lot of shake ups and surprises, with so many out of the rankings and new ones coming in! Here's the breakdown: Top 50 | Top 40 | Top 30 | Top 20 | Top 10

LOOKING BACK AT 2007

While we're preparing the list of the best performances by young actors for 2008, take a look back at last year's top performers- "2007 was a good year for young talents. While the Oscars (and the BAFTA) favor the more matured... [ read more ]

2008 Fall/Winter Movie Preview

It all started with Harry Potter. As soon as Warner Bros. announced they were moving their tentpole holiday release to next summer, rival studios scrambled to take advantage of the hole left in the remaining 2008 release schedule. [ read more ]

I'm not a big fan of Tobey Maguire, perhaps I never will be! But I think it's about time to get someone else to play the role of Spiderman. While many of you might disagree with me, I think Maguire's performance was not impressive at all for an actor with so much hype to his name. I wish Jake Gyllenhaal had played the Marvel hero, but it seems now that Jake will never play that role.

Rumors on a new 'casting scoop' have been posted all over the internet. Unfortunately, a lot of these so-called 'scoops' are not based on fact. Cinematical, one of the most reliable sites for legitimate movie news and 'scoops' had a lot to say about this 'news':

A few days ago, Latino Review broke the news that Patrick Fugit was being considered as the heir to the Spider-Man throne. His suitability was hotly debated, but apparently all for nothing if the Internet is to be believed.

CHUD happened to be on set of Cirque du Freak, which Fugit has just finished filming, and one of the producers sent off an inquiry as to the truth of the casting rumor. The e-mail was the first Fugit had heard about it -- which means little in the world of "insider scoops," as Fugit could still quite possibly be on a "to be considered" list. Every 20-something male in the world could be on it. Maybe there's a Cinematical reader just waiting to be plucked from obscurity! [ read more ]
But I'm getting off-topic already (to a certain degree!). If you were to choose who should play the next Spiderman, who would be your first choice?

Jim Sturgess. Fabulous screen presence! He has all the qualities of a leading man - charming, talented, and he's definitely physically fit enough to take on the demanding role of the Marvel superhero.

Michael Angarano. Definitely the right choice to play Anakin Skywalker! He's been playing heroes since he was a child. With great screen presence, he's definitely one of today's most talented young actors.

Patrick Fugit. Indie actor Fugit was announced by a movie site to be the next Spiderman! How come? Well, he's also one of today's most talented young actors. Remember Almost Famous?

I forgot to mention another great young actor, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Now, that's a fantastic choice! I dunno if he'd be interested in playing movie franchises, but the guy certainly can act and he's quite frank about his opinions too!

On another note, I would not even dare to imagine Orlando Bloom being given the role? Even more surprising would be Michael Pitt or perhaps Hayden Christensen?

That's four awesome actors already (and three rather bad choices), but there are lots of other actors who could be considered, of course!

justin long: the hands-down nerdiest guy on-screen. he was awesome in die hard 4.0 and scrawny enough to fill the roll. he also looks kinda like peter parker from the ultimate spider-man comic.
