Ana Bugni is a 19-year-old student at the University of Montana. What I admire about Ana is her unique presence on a number of Twilight sites. She is a fearless poster who speaks her mind and argues intelligently to get her points across. While she has no formal association with any of the leading sites, she often contributes to lots of serious discussions, and if you want to really appreciate how Twilight fans think and feel and wonder and dream, then you need to go no further.

Here's our short interview:

When did you first read Stephenie's Twilight? How would you sum up your feelings and reactions after finishing the book?

I randomly picked up Twilight a few weeks after Eclipse was released. I started reading it that evening and was finished with it by 2:00 the next morning. I'd never had a book that sucked me in so completely. I was blown away by how easy the story was to get into and how believable this world seemed. I couldn't wait to drive to the book store and pick up the next two!

As a teen, with which of the characters do you identify the most? Of the many Twilight characters, who among them do you really admire? How about the ones you dislike or find annoying? How do you find the development of the lead characters? Are there certain questions you have about these characters that remain unanswered to this day?

I suppose I identify with Bella the most, since she's a teenage girl trying to figure out her life. Its very easy to see myself as Bella, especially since it from her point of view, but I don't always agree with her choices. I love the fact that she’s just an average, klutzy, self-conscious girl, and yet she’s still out there facing dangers everyday and working to get what she wants.

Overall, I admire Carlisle the most. You can tell how much he truly cares for his family and it must have taken a lot of courage and willpower to go against his instincts and lead the life he lives. And then to be a doctor, on top of all that, is really impressive! As for who I personally find annoying, Jacob Black tends to get on my nerves. I have a love/hate relationship with him. I think he’s a great kid with good intentions but I don’t agree with some of his tactics. I think that Bella and Edward’s relationship is fascinating. They both have made so many mistakes along the way, but no matter how flawed their relationship is, they’d do anything to be with each other. It’s an unusual take on forbidden love.

I’m also intrigued by the dynamics of the entire Cullen family. I’d really like to know more about their relationships with each other and how they interact. I want to know more about Carlisle and Esme’s relationship, as well as Emmett/Rosalie and Alice/Jasper since we never really see them alone together. I’m also curious about the rest of the Cullen’s view on the question of their souls.

What's your favorite passages in Twilight? Why?

It’s so hard to pick just one! I guess I’d have to say the scene in Port Angeles after Edward rescues Bella. It’s the first time you get to see the real Edward, how much he’s struggling with his life, and you find out what he really is. And after hearing all it, Bella realizes that none of it matters. it’s a very powerful scene.

And of course, the meadow scene is so romantic and classic!

If you can tell Stephenie Meyer something about her work or something altogether unrelated to her books, but something you simply want to express, what would it be?

I’d want to thank her for sharing her wonderful stories with all of us. These books have had a huge positive impact on my life and I can’t thank her enough for all the happiness I get out of them! I’d love to tell her what an inspiration she is for everyone out there to do what makes them happy and to follow their dreams. Literally ! I have a huge amount of respect for her, you can tell she really cares about her fans!

For you personally, why did the book affect you in such a way that you were compelled to seek out other readers and eventually become one active Twilight fan who actively participates on boards and forums?

For me personally, these stories came into my life at a dark time, when I was really struggling. These books were like a lifejacket, giving me something that I could so easily get lost in and got so much joy out of reading. I was just so excited and so passionate about these stories that I turned to the internet to see what other information was out there about them. And then I discovered dozens and dozens of sites with people who shared the passion. It's really fun and kind of comforting to know that there are others out there who care about the same things you do, and its fun to obsess together!

Do you think all these fans will go to the movies to watch the film? It seems that the film company (Summit Entertainment) that is now financing the movie gambled their money and entered a risky venture…?

I think it was a risk. These books are very popular, but still sort of under the radar, but I also think its going to pay off big time. I believe Summit and everyone involved in the film is starting to realize just how huge this fan base is and the potential these stories have to reach wide range of people. The success of this film isn’t going to be limited to the book fans. I think that most fans are excited about seeing the stories we’ve spent hours reading over and over and have come to cherish so much be brought to life and get the recognition it deserves.

I know it was difficult for some people to let go of certain images of characters that they’ve had in their head and accept the actors, but I think pretty much everyone in the fandom is now starting to realize how dedicated every person involved with the film is. I’m so grateful that they’re working hard to do Stephenie Meyer and her books justice!
