That's from IMDb itself and what Starmeter is all about - it lists the most popular movie actors based on viewers' IMDb searches. Films are also ranked according to the same formula, and IMDb refers to the rankings as the MovieMeter. As of my latest view, Twilight the movie is currently ranked #14. The Dark Knight is ranked higher at #8 while the next Harry Potter movie is at #32. I'm not really surprised that Twilight is ahead of the latest Potter film. Apart from Meyer's latest book outperforming Rowling's, tMF recently closed a poll where the lead actors of these two films, Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Pattinson, were the actors who received the most number of votes. Pattinson emerged as the big winner. I often used Starmeter to look out for 'emerging talents' - as we like to call these young actors and actresses who seem to be generating a lot of buzz - so that I can write profiles or an article about them. Right now, Taylor Lautner, the new guy playing the role of Jacob Black in Twilight, is currently #1 in the rankings. Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan is at #3, while Robert Pattinson, her leading man is at #5. At the moment, the IMDb Starmeter itself is quite getting a share of the buzz!
A recent slashfilm article entitled What Is Twilight? And Is It The Next Harry Potter? is now the subject of a controversy between fans of Stephenie Meyer's book Twilight and regular and most definitely wondering viewers of the famous movie blog. Says slashfilm:
One reader who is definitely not a Twilight fan wrote this in part, and I quote:
Perhaps part 3 of our Twilight series might be one good reference point? I find the reference to Eragon an open invitation to actually join in the fun, as you might see me commenting on the article itself, and why not? Twilight has a lot of things going for it, and I feel that online media, especially those who specialize in featuring big super blockbusters, are not being fair about the Stephenie Meyer book-turned-movie. Aside from Cinematical, MTV Blog, First Showing and now Slash Film, a lot of the big movie news sites have yet to even mention the film. Can you imagine Yahoo movies not even featuring Twilight in their movie profiles? Surprisingly, as of my latest check, they have yet to do a write-up. So Twilight fans, you are going to have to prove your point. No matter how many times you have to, do it! Do it passionately and with conviction, refrain from flaming other posters or including insults in your comments. Show everyone that you are an educated, open-minded and most of all, extremely satisfied fan of the Twilight series and that you and the Twilight fandom are going to make a big difference come December. x Comments (5)

Hello Jed.
I thank you for trying so very hard to inform me of the wonders of Twilight but I feel that my comments have been misinterpreted and that I have been quoted out of context. Below is my original post on /film, which you can still access at the original site: "O_O *puts her hand up* Okie dokie, it seems like the fanatical legions have come out in force. I want to say a few things in defense of this article. a) This is a movie blog, not a magazine. That means that a piece of movie news comes out and then it is stated, sometimes with an opinion, sometimes not. What needs to be remembered here is that this is NOT a BOOK blog. It is a MOVIE blog. The author was not trying to do a detailed article on the freaking novels. This blog post is about how a movie that, obviously, is getting little regular press is becoming a phenomenon based souly on the preexisting fanbase. b) This article is written based on the MOVIE version of Twilight, not the written version. Judging from the material avail liable on the movie, it does look a lot like the Covenant, which was not a good movie. The cast consists of a bunch of pretty boys, okay? With super powers. That means it will be compared to other movies that feature pretty boy casts. Until the movie actually comes out and proves these comparisons wrong that’s what people are going to say. c) STOP SAYING THE DUDE NEEDS TO READ THE BOOKS BEFORE WRITING A BLOG POST ON IT. That’s just stupid, okay? This is the first time I’ve even seen mention of this movie on a prominent movie blog, and I read a few. That means that this article is actually positive press. It says nothing wrong about the movie and that it is targeted towards teenage girls. Guess what? IT IS TARGETED TOWARDS TEENAGE GIRLS. That doesn’t mean other people can’t enjoy it, but like it or not that’s the target audience. Thus the casting. If you continue to relentlessly flame every movie blogger that makes this comparison they will not cover it. No positive PR means the movie will tank even more then it allready is probably going to do. This website is about movies. Indian Jones, Terminator, The Hulk. Those are the other blog entries right now. Twilight may be the best damn book on the planet, but what we care about here is the movie. In comparison to the movies I just mentioned, how do you think it will do? From what I’ve seen this thing is going the way of Eragon so perhaps you should more careful of who you hate on, k?" I wrote this post at the very beginning of the whole debacle, before the disclaimer was put up by the author of the article. I felt that you was being treated unfairly by people who were commenting at the time and that the article should be defended. My entire point was that the movie is not getting very much press and that when someone does blog about it, they can't be attacked in such a fashion. Not everyone is going to read an entire series of books before posting about it on their movie blog. That's just reality and that was the point I was trying to make. Perhaps this movie will be good, perhaps it won't be. Unfortunately right now the genre that it is in, movie wise, has not been doing well the last few years. That is only what I meant, not that it will suck. Hopefully it won't and we will get more movies with hot guys with super powers. I would actually enjoy that, lol. I just wanted to say that it is unfair to attack someone in such a fashion for assuming that a series of teen novels is read by... teens. I apologise for sending this to you as a comment on your blog. To be honest, I wanted to simply send this to you personally but I have been unable to find a contact email for you. I know that you are quoting a comment I made on a blog post and there is nothing I can ultimately due to make you take it down but I feel that perhaps as a writer and a journalist you can respect my desire for my words to kept in their original context. Thank you. Write comment

It would seem hard to talk about Casey Affleck without mentioning his brother Ben or vice versa. The brothers have been the subject of many articles - from their looks and their relationships to Ben’s decision to cast his brother in Gone Baby Gone and the completely different career paths both guys took on: Casey remained oblivious to the glamour and glitz of Hollywood, while Ben adjusted to the glare of being in the spotlight. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers - The 30-year old Irish actor is known for speaking his mind- he is quite vocal about a number of issues- from the failings of the film industry to dealing with directors with huge egos to the irrelevance of celebrities & the lack of real talent in some of today’s biggest box-office stars. Not many people are blessed with the opportunity to enter a deeply rewarding and exciting career. In the case of Michael Angarano, it has been like that since he was 5 years old. As a young model, he was exposed early to the hustle and bustle of a glam job. Not surprisingly, he began his successful transition into acting a couple of years later. [ read more ]
Kostja Ullmann: Taking on such a challenging role is not a new departure for the actor. After appearing in a variety of shows on German television, Ullmann was offered the role of Achim, one of the leads in Marco Kreuzpaintner’s Summer Storm. [ read more ]

Everything I've seen so far of Twilight is wonderful. I think it'll be a great movie on its own, without having the benefit of a devoted book fanbase. It's a wonderful story thanks to Meyer, and Catherine Hardwicke is doing her absolute best to please the fans, which is something that Eragon definitely didn't do. All the signs point to the fact that Twilight will be GOOD.
