Into the Groove: In just a few days, we'll find out just how well Twilight will perform at the Box office. But the company who took the risk to make Stephenie Meyer's book into a movie is already making future plans. Says the Hollywood Reporter:

With Summit Entertainment preparing to release its big bet "Twilight," the studio is moving potential future installments in the franchise into the development pipeline. The company has acquired rights to the next three novels in Stephenie Meyer's blockbuster vampire series and has hired "Twilight" scribe Melissa Rosenberg to pen scripts based on "New Moon" and "Eclipse," the second and third books, respectively.

If the first book, Twilight, can be translated into the big screen and attract fans to watch it multiple times, can the other books in the series attract the same kind of interest and enthusiasm? Let's take a closer look at the three books- New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn and find out what it can offer in terms of cinematic wonder...

- - -

About the Book: An incident so insignificant at first turned out to be deadly and dangerous for Bella - her being human and the smell of her blood is a matter of life and death, if she's to live with Edward and his family of vampires. When she accidentally cut herself, the smell of her blood drove Edward's family into a feeding frenzy that could have meant her death.

With her life at stake, Edward decided to leave Bella behind and his departure made Bella slip into a downward spiral of depression that seems to follow her like a phantom. In such disposition, she befriends Jacob, who likes to ride motorcycles, and in a way gave her a chance to reinvigorate herself. More of the book from this Review:

With NEW MOON, the second part in a projected trilogy, Meyer deepens and enriches her mythology, introducing new families and races that complicate Bella and Edward's story. Bella reflects, "Could a world really exist where ancient legends went wandering around the borders of tiny, insignificant towns, facing down mythical monsters?...Was there anything sane or normal at all, or was everything just magic and ghost stories?"

How will it translate onto the big screen? Kristen Stewart as Bella might find it hard to sustain the same number of movie audiences without Edward Cullen sharing the silver screen. It is quite apparent by now that Robert Pattinson who plays Edward commands the attention of many fans, and while the story in itself is a serious examination into Bella's soul, people who wanted to learn more about their relationship might find the story a sort of 'suspended animation'. It offers an alternative romantic relationship that might appear 'trivial' compared with the intensity of the romance between Bella and Edward. But Jacob is no mere mortal either, and there can only be rivalry between equals or what appears to be.

For me, more importantly, the book captured the pain and the desperation of someone who has lost the most important person in her life - the dark mood that permeates New Moon might be an interesting departure from the romantic and thrilling first part of the Twilight saga. It's as if you've been flying too long and have lost your sense of footing, and that a dark mood is not necessarily a bad thing, but a chance for reflection.

About the Book:
Romance and rivalry, danger and alliances and a closer look at how Vampires roam the world according to Stephenie Meyer. Says Heidi Broadhead:

The legions of readers who are hooked on the romantic struggles of Bella and the vampire Edward will ecstatically devour this third installment of the story begun in Twilight. Jacob, the werewolf met in New Moon, pursues Bella with renewed vigilance. However, when repercussions from an episode in Twilight place Bella in the mortal danger that series fans have come to expect, Jake and Edward forge an uneasy alliance. The plot patterns have begun to show here, but Meyer's other strengths remain intact. The supernatural elements accentuate the ordinary human dramas of growing up. Jake and Edward's competition for Bella feels particularly authentic, especially in their apparent desire to best each other as much as to win Bella.

And this related review says it all:

The further development of the Jake-Bella-Edward love triangle, in particular, will almost certainly appeal to romance fans, and will divide readers according to whom --- the coldly beautiful Edward or the hot-headed Jake --- they think Bella should choose. One thing fans will agree on, though: Bella's fate is far from over, which means readers eventually will be able to savor even more of her story.

How will it translate onto the big screen? When was the last time you've watch a romantic movie with vampires and werewolves playing rivals? Should Bella return to Edward, the cold, somewhat 'Conservative' and idealistic Vampire who witnessed so much it seems incomprehensible? Or should she settle with the adventurous, fiercely independent and 'hot' as an iron rod, werewolf named Jacob who still remains a bit of a mystery? Will Bella succumb to the thrill of the unknown and the lure of danger or will she come back to what is familiar, perhaps safer form of 'romantic' haven?

About the Book:
Inspired by some of the greatest romantic stories- Romeo and Juliet and Wuthering Heights, in particular, the final installment (or so it seems) is arguably the most debated of the Twilight series. In Breaking Dawn, Bella’s story plays out in some unexpected ways. The ongoing conflicts that made this series so compelling--a human girl in love with a vampire, a werewolf in love with a human girl, the generations-long feud between werewolves and vampires--resolve pretty quickly, apparently so that Meyer could focus on Bella’s latest opportunity for self-sacrifice: giving her life for someone she loves even more than Edward. Here's a Review:

But it's nearly impossible to please everyone --- especially when so much of the series' drama has relied on the tension of Bella's choice between two very different but desirable lovers. Readers who are able, eventually, to gain some perspective will find much to redeem BREAKING DAWN, particularly its new insights into Jacob's inner life as well as its neat resolution to several of the series' pressing conflicts and its realistic (or at least as realistic as a vampire romance can get) portrayal of the complexities and joys of married life. Meyer's legions of fans are likely to debate, discuss and dissect BREAKING DAWN for months to come --- at least until the film version of TWILIGHT comes out on November 21st, when they'll have a whole new set of creative decisions to consider and critique.

How will it translate onto the big screen? If it's going to be the last installment in the Twilight series, perhaps this is the proper time for Meyer to write that "other book" and give fans that elusive 'possibility' of another bite...

The apple tree that is Twilight may either wither and die a natural death or it may sort of "transcend time" by narrowing generational gaps and even reconciling gender preferences, becoming one of cinema's most beloved series. It depends on many factors - but a Twilight fan can certainly be expected to give bloggers like tMFa piece of their mind.

What's on your mind? Aside from the first book, Twilight, which among the three is your favorite- New Moon, Eclipse or Breaking Dawn, why is that? Which of these books would be an awesome movie? Let us know what you think!

Besides Twilight - Breaking Dawn is my favorite in the Saga. Reason? Because Bella gets everything she's wanted. Plain and simple.

What book will be a great movie - Eclipse. The newborn fighting scene. Also Victoria and Edward fighting would be great to see on the big screen.

Eclipse is my favorite of the three, and would also make the best movie-lots of action...of all sorts. New Moon has grown on me, and I can see s movie of it, but there would have to be major changes in that it will be impossible to leave the Cullens, particularly Edward, out of 3/4 of the movie. I can't see Breaking Dawn as a movie, unless they're willing to up the rating to 'R', and that just won't happen.

I think all have the potential to make awesome movies. With New Moon, maybe a compromise is needed. Edward and the Cullens can show up halfway into the movie instead of three fourths of the way. They might have to include some of Eclipse in the second movie to do this. Breaking Dawn... There are lots of stuff in this one too - marriage, honeymoon, pregnancy from hell, the Volturi comes to conquer and take, ...one crazy thing after another. They can make it fast paced, a roller coaster ride with a victorious climax.

I can't pick a favorite book. There are moments and dialogue in each one that make it memorable and special (i.e., Edward/Jacob tent scene in Eclipse, Edward and the Volturi in Italy). But I agree, Eclipse has the most action and will be the most fun to watch on screen. Breaking Dawn... this one is a tricky one. I would rather Summit just make three and all of them good than end the series in disappointment. But how to provide closure on the Volturi storyline?

My favourites are Twilight and maybe Eclipse. I think it would be pretty cool to see the first three but then they should stop. I do not want BD as a movie. Some of the stuff (like the birth or Renesmee growing older so quickly) will be impossible to shoot or just disgusting and the actors will look too old. Besides, every Sequel on every movie just gets worse and it would be awefull to see that happen with this franchise.

Can't wait for the rest!!!
There are a lot of amazing scenes in the book that I would like to see in the big screen. Bella'a cliff diving in New Moon, and the Fire & Ice scene in Eclipse (as well as the newborn vampire battle). But Breaking Dawn has some of the most visual scenes I can't wait to see (spoiler alert!)....vampire Bella and all the cool stuff she can do or how the world felt and looked like to her when she was "reborn". One word....Renesmee....oh how I love her and cannnot wait to see her on screen!!!!
