Four incredibly cool and interesting trailers- Josef Fares' semi-authobiography Zozo, a different vampire tale in Let the Right One In, Harmony Korine's Mister Lonely, and finally the shockingly wicked 13 Tzameti from Gela Babluani.

13 Tzameti: The Grand Jury prize winner at Sundance, this is simply one of a kind movie- relentless, unforgiving and utterly unforgettable. Just the trailer will leave you cold and excited. If you want to watch something different, then get this at netflix or buy the DVD- it's definitely worth it!

About the Movie: Twenty-two-year-old Sebastien (Georges Babluani) leads an impoverished life with his immigrant family constantly struggling to support them. While repairing the roof of a neighbor’s house, he overhears a conversation about an expected package which promises to make the household rich. Sensing the opportunity of a lifetime, Sebastien intercepts the package which contains a series of specific instructions. Following the clues, he assumes a false identity and manages to slip through the grasp of the enclosing police as he ventures deeper and deeper into the countryside. The closer he gets to his destination and the more people he meets along the way, the less he understands about what he is looking for. Ultimately, he comes face to face with a ring of clandestine gamblers placing bets on the outcome of a multi-player, high stakes tournament of Russian roulette. Directed by newcomer Gela Babluani, 13 TZAMETI is a winner-take-all thriller, where an unfortunate young man is transformed into Contestant #13 with no way out save his luck.

Harmony Korine's third film is Mister Lonely, right after Kids and Gummo.

What it's all about: A Michael Jackson impersonator lives alone in Paris and performs on the streets to make ends meet. At a performance in a retirement home, Michael falls for a beautiful Marilyn Monroe look-alike who suggests he move to a commune of impersonators in the Scottish Highlands. At the seaside castle, Michael discovers everyone preparing for the commune’s first-ever gala - Abe Lincoln, Little Red Riding Hood, the Three Stooges, the Queen, the Pope, Madonna, Buckwheat, Sammy Davis, Jr… And also Marilyn’s daughter Shirley Temple and her possessive husband Charlie Chaplin. Meanwhile, a miracle is happening somewhere in a Latin American jungle. [ more from our film focus article ]

Zozo from Josef Fares. I watched this movie while I was in Lebanon. It was actually a semi-authobiography of sorts for Fares. The filmmaker used to live in Lebanon and migrated in Sweden. Spiced with some magical realism, Zozo is a different take on the coming of age genre - - this time from the eyes of a young Lebanese who lost his family to the civil war and is now trying to live a new life in a foreign land.

Here's part of my review:

Using a refreshing combination of fantasy, comedy and drama, Zozo takes a look at how a young boy's life is affected by the tragic death of his family, his struggles to move on, and the challenges he has to face in order to fit in a society so different and sometimes so hostile to him.

The stunning imagery seen in Zozo - from its brutal look at the civil war in Lebanon to its fantasy sequence (where Zozo's pet, a baby chicken talks to him) to the amusing take on school life in Sweden, provides its viewers with an unpredictable and extremely entertaining story. Especially worth mentioning is the young Lebanese girl Rita (Antoinette Turk) who befriends Zozo and gives him a chance to play and feel normal again. [ read more ]

Let the Right One In: Låt den rätte komma in (English: Let the Right One In) is a Swedish romantic horror film by Tomas Alfredson from 2008. The film is based on the novel with the same name by John Ajvide Lindqvist. It tells the story of a 12-year-old boy's friendship with a vampire girl.

The film won the "The Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature" at the TriBeCa Film Festival in 2008. Among the four trailers, this is the only one I have yet to see. But I would definitely try to catch this one. Here is Cinematical's review:

Adapted for the screen (from his own award-winning novel) by John Lindqvist, Let the Right One In is not only a truly excellent horror movie, but it's also a bizarrely touching and personal little movie. It's clear that Lindqvist and director Tomas Alfredson are using vampirism as an accessible metaphor for the myriad problems that face today's teens -- but the movie also feels a lot like a smart horror flick combined with a slice of one of John Hughes' better movies. Whether the film is focusing on the carnage, the puppy-love romance, or a few side-stories with the local townsfolk, Alfredson presents the movie with an appreciable sense of humor, confidence, and sincerity. And while I was initially a bit skeptical about the flick's 114-minute running time, once it had ended I found myself wishing it had been just a little bit longer. Surely that's the sign of a successful movie.

What's on your mind? Which among the four trailers you find the best? Which among them interest/intrigue you the most?
