The article is in response to Nikki Finke's earlier post that indeed Summit is 'readying Twilight sequel'. However, the news is old and the fact is that New Moon is being 'readied' since July of this year. The only thing missing is the 'official' announcement. While Nikki Finke is not citing any sources, I'm quite certain there is a lot of info (official and otherwise) that's been heard, gathered and analyzed to come up with the interesting article. I also want to take exception to the article's statement that Summit Entertainment 'seems to have the same faith in their franchise that the teen girl fans do'. The term 'no brainer' was also attached to it. Apparently, people who are new to the Twilight phenomenon are still 'processing' a lot of information about the books, the movie adaptation and the production company. Let me put some more perspective to this issue... - - - Summit Entertainment spent a miniscule amount of money to produce Twilight, compared to other movies that have been adapted from books. One of the most cited example is the Harry Potter franchise from Warner Bros. Definitely, Twilight's production cost of less than $40 million is not a 'biggie' compared to the cost of the Harry Potter movies. tMF earlier reported how Summit secured to get funds from some very qualified fund managers from Wall Street and the proven reputation of its top Executives has something to do with their current financial standing. So it's actually a strategic move on the part of Summit to move ahead with the movie's sequel - that is to say, it's moot and academic. That's not a 'no brainer' move on their part...these guys are actually brilliant. Here's the info you all need to refer to: [ This is part of Summit's press release which we have quoted way back in one of our Twilight articles ]
Here are the two Top Executives we reported earlier: "Robert Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger will serve as co-chairs of the company. Friedman will serve as CEO of Summit Entertainment. Wachsberger will be president of Summit Entertainment and CEO of powerhouse sales arm Summit Intl. " Friedman used to be vice-chairman and chief operating officer of Paramount Pictures, one of Hollywood’s big studios. I don't think it's good to speculate, let alone give opinions when you could not cite facts. Yeah, Summit Entertainment may be new to the industry because it's a start-up, but what some people failed to understand is that the guys who run and operate Summit have been in the business for many years and have had their share of success. - - - For non-Twiilight fans, you might be curious about New Moon. Here's a short summary of what New Moon might offer to the audience:
That's from Stephenie Meyer's website herself, giving viewers a glimpse into her book, New Moon. While Twilight centers on the romantic love of Bella and Edward and the accompanying danger of having Bella becoming part of Edward's family, New Moon is darker, moodier and deals with a lot of issues, foremost of which is Bella as she tries to cope with their separation. It also questions the future outcome of their relationship as another important character of the book comes into play- Jacob Black. Heard about team Jacob and team Edward? Now then, you get the idea why there was such a 'rivalry' in the first place. - - - What's on your mind? Do you think Summit should already begin working on Twilight's sequel even before it's shown? Are the buzz surrounding Twilight enought to make it a franchise? Is Summit thinking like Twilight's screaming 'teen girl fans' as some speculate is already moving ahead without caution? Let us know what you think! - - - x

for me as a fan of the book series i will definitely want to see new moon, eclipse and breaking dawn and i know the other millions of fans will say the same thing.. i know the movie will be a big hit for fans and non-fans of the book. people should give credit to summit entertainment. i mean they're a young company but to take risk to be at the level as harry potter is a very brave move. i think it doesn't really matter if the movie is big budget or not. it's how they show the elements of the book to the movie. i know that twilight will be on top of the box office.. and i'm sure i want more and i will have faith to summit entertainment that they can bring twilight to life.. i'll be looking forward to new moon..

umm, well...
I was one of the many, many readers that got unbelievably swept up in the selfless romance between Edward and Bella. I agree with the statements concerning the financial aspects in making the film, very intelligent moves indeed. No doubt will they make more than they spent.
However, I swore I read somewhere that Eragon got a lot of hype (perhaps at a lesser caliber) and it bombed. Not to mention, they spent significantly more dinero. Now, don't get me wrong, I loved the books because due to the utopian love story it illustrates, but I am disinclined for New Moon to be made. One film is fine, but as the supportive and loyal fans have demonstrated, they are very protective of the world Stephenie has created. I, personally think if the books continue to be adapted the storyline of the books may look a bit cheesy when presented on screen. Some already oppose of Breaking Dawn as a film. Again, just my thoughts... I am hoping Summit at least waits until Twilight is shown before moving forward. You can even compare this to Pirates or Lord of the Rings in a way.

NO to sequels
Honestly, I don't think I could take New Moon as a movie. It was such an internal book and watching Bella go through the pain she feels is just too much to convey on screen. I would love to see the transformation in Jacob, but with the actor playing him (Taylor), there is just no way he can sprout up 6 or 7 inches to become like the book, they would have to take way too many liberties with his character.
I am usually very skeptical about books into movies; there are only a few movies that were better than the book, so I already have misgivings about Twilight the movie. I will still see it and probably enjoy it, but it won't hold the same special place in my heart as the book.

...
Thank god someone else agrees with me lol. With the emotional wreck syndrome Bella had, it may not come off as well on screen as one the page, left for the reader to pull out via our own demons and sadness.
I agree about book adaptations. The book Memoirs of a Geisha was fantastic, the movie wasn't even close to the emotions conveyed in the book.

Wait & See
I think everyone is smart to just wait and see a bit ~ both producers & fans. In a mere month, we'll know if the effort was worth it. We'll know if Summit's team truly captured the essence of Twilight. If they did, I would be more inclined to trust them with the rest of the series.
As far as Bella's emotional state in New Moon? Wouldn't we love to see Kristen Stewart act on that level? I'd personally love to see her prove herself with that bit. And Taylor Lautner? He's already said in a previous interview that he's beefing up as much as he possibly can in hopes that New Moon does make it into the can. Call me the eternal optimist ~ so, so true; but I'd personally love to see the rest of the story. I'll take the bad with the good, as I have with Harry Potter. So if Twilight is all that we'd hoped for, sure, bring on New Moon (and film it with Eclipse & BDawn simultaneously ~ just my wish...).

They better pull a lord of the rings...
If Summit plans to go ahead with the next book "New Moon" then they better plan on making the rest back to back. They can't age because duh, they are vampires. So pull a lord of the rings while filming and do them all.

...
I've read several interviews with the producers of Twilight, and all of them basically say that they will wait to see how the movie does before they continue. They've got enough of it done so they can hurry into it whenever they get the OK from Stephenie, but there probably won't be any official announcements until the movie is released. Yes, all the hype bodes well for it, but I think they'd be kind of jumping the gun to announce plans for a sequel this early. Let the box office prove the movie is legit, and then they'll be free to go ahead.

I agree with shooting simultaneously
I have to agree with the above. I would love to see all the books made into films, but they must be made ala LOTR, simultaneously. It's the only way to ensure the vampires don't age too much. And yes, I may not like them as much as the books, but I will still eagerly see them all! Not looking forward to New Moon as much as the others (too little Edward), but I'll still be there opening day!
I had already taken off Nov. 21 to see Half Blood Prince (a tradition with all the HP flicks), so I'll be there at the first showing of Twilight. And although I've loved all the Harry Potter flicks, none of them are better than the books! Just as no film based on a Stephen King novel has ever been better ...

...
From a purely financial standpoint, Summit would be wise to at least gear up for the sequels and get their cast under contract (if they haven't already done so)-the prices of their two main actors will rocket up if the first film is even mildly successful-even the secondary characters will be significantly more expensive. I do agree that any further films would almost HAVE to be filmed back to back-Pattinson already looks more mature than his actual 22, much less his character's 17.
SHOULD New Moon be made? Actually, this book had to grow on me. I liked it better the second time. The biggest negative is the missing Edward for a good 2/3 of the book-he is by far the most interesting character (the portion of Midnight Sun published on Meyer's website is actually my favorite of all the books); however, that can be remedied by creating scenes of what he is up to and interspersing them with Bella and Jacob's story. If Twilight is the success it looks to be, Summit would be nuts not to go ahead with the other books. Even Breaking Dawn, though not in the two movie format that I've heard rumored. Of all the books, this one has the most "fluff" that can be excised. It could be a very exciting action-packed movie if the writing is tightly controlled. You would lose a lot of Jacob's 'interior monologue', which would be a shame, but them's the breaks when adapting. After seeing the trailer, the movie looks to be interesting and exciting enough to support a small franchise, if it is done carefully.

October 14, 2008
Its clear that Twilight will be a box office Hit.
If they are planning on shooting the sequels, which I am fairly certain they will. They should plan to shoot them back to back to avoid the character's from aging to much. Kristen play's a 17-18 year old, Robert is supposed to be 17 "forever" and the rest of the cast including Jacob arent aging in the book either so chop chop... In true Harry Potter fashion - get those camera's rolling...

Excited
I would love to see New Moon on the big screen. One request though, we need to see the pain that Edward is going through while he is away from Bella. That is something we really don't see in the book, but Stephenie Meyer has a wonderful outtake on her website pertaining the the phone call he receives from Rosalie. Eclipse is what I really want to see, and I am curious to see how they will wrap the series up depending on if they make Breaking Dawn or not.
They need to start filming fast, for continuity reasons and plus the fans really want more. Jen

Autumn B:
Just adding my 2 cents worth - I too thought Midnight Sun was the best of the Twilight books, And I also had a hard time with New Moon, although the re-united scene's back in Forks are some of my favorite pages. And I also agree that New Moon has more Movie Potential scenes than the other books with Italy alone... Just thought I would voice my agreements...

Finish what's been started
If Twilight does as well on screen as it did in print, then Summit should finish the series. If would be awful for fans alike (me included) to see one movie, love it, and then never see the others.

More Twilight movies!!!
I would love to see all 4 books into a movie, especially Breaking Dawn. It was such a visual experience that I can't wait to witness on the big screen. New Moon may have a lot of emotional scenes for Bella, but I think if they (Summit and Catherine Hardwick) incorporate what Edward and the rest of the Cullens are going through at same time (when they are away from Bella) it would make the movie more interesting. I know that there are not a lot of details about this in the book, but I know they can expound and get creative with what is already given. I also agree that they should shoot the rest of the sequels like LOTR because vampires don't age. And besides, I haven't had enough of Rob Pattinson!
,

I agree completely with I'm a fan, I understand the difficulties with portraying jacob taller ect. but look what they did with LOTR, I realize they had a much bigger budget, but if Twilight does as well as I think it will, I believe New Moon will be just as great. I think we all need to have just a little more faith in Summit Entertainment and Cathryn H. Also I don't think Stephenie Meyer would let anyone ruin her books. If she is all for it so am I.

I want them all to be made into movies!! They all rock and I hope Catherine gets to do them all too!! The fans all aren't teens either! There is no age limit to a True Epic Love Story!! Make them ALL PLease!!

...
of course it would be wise to "wait and see" how "twilight" does in theatres, but i think it's going to do well and when it does i hope (summit) is ready to start filming sequels asap. like someone mentioned before, i think "new moon" should include edward's perspective (midnight sun style) as well as bella's. i would love to see the heart break and emotional intensity felt by edward and bella (and even jacob) played on the screen. there are ways to translate the heavy emotional content in the book to the big screen so if done right 'new moon' could be just as popular as twilight (as a movie).

I DEFINITELY want the rest of the books to be made into movies- more than just about anything- as a fan of the whole series, especially b/c the last two books are my favorites and the ones I would most enjoy seeing (I think- I guess I won't ACTUALLY know until (if) they are made and I see them, but just judging by the books). But I agree w/everyone else who has said a)they need to film the movies simultaneously and b)New Moon should include many more scenes about Edward and the Cullens and what goes on w/them when they leave. Since the reason New Moon is my least favorite book is b/c it doesn't have enough of them in it, I think it would be great if Summit took some liberties w/this part of the book since the movie, unlike the book, is not limited to Bella's point of view, and Robert Pattinson like MAKES the Twilight movie, so the more we get of him the better, even if he is just moping around and being miserable. Plus, in a movie you can only spend so much time on Bella's internal conflicts, as you can only view them externally in a movie, so too much of that would be COMPLETELY dull- some would be great, not least of all to show off Kristen's acting abilities, but too much would be horrible and boring. So, as long as they're not afraid to be a little inventive w/New Moon while still remaining true to its essence, I think it could be great, and I REALLY hope they do the movie- if for no other reason than that they can then make Eclipse into a movie, which would be simply AMAZING.

I am a die hard movie fan. I have only actually ready 2 book series, Harry Potter and Twilight. I actually saw the HP movie before I read the books. Seeing the movie gave me the incentive to read the books, something to picture in my mind as I read through the pages. As for Twilight, I saw the trailer before I heard about the books, and since I have a love for vampire movies, I decided to read the books. I believe Twilight and any sequels will be a big hit in the box office!!! I actually have many movies that were made from books, have read none of the books, but love the movies. From a movie lover's point of view, I would say that all Stephenie Meyer's Twilght series will make great movies that non-Twilight fans will love as well!!!!

In my opinion, you can't do New Moon without also doing Eclipse. Those two books are really knit close together in terms of the story arc and character development. The tent scene in Eclipse, which is one of the neatest scenes in all of Eclipse, just couldn't happen without New Moon. I also think they don't have to make Breaking Dawn into a movie. Its a different story arc then the other three. Victoria really does tie the first three books together as the "threat".

I can't understand
I'm sorry but I think I live in some kind of paralel world because I REALLY want New Moon to be made into film. By the way, since they announced that they were going to turn Twilight into film.
I don't understand why someone wouldn't want that! As far as what I've seen of the movie, it will be pretty much perfect and even Harry Potter, which I love the books and never really liked the movies, I can't wait to see all of them on screen and on my DVD shelf. Also, I don't have ANY doubts about Kristen talent on playing Bella in New Moon. First, the girl has already played a number of serious roles. Second, New Moon is more mature than the other books (perhaps not as much as Breaking Dawn) because it's very serious and sad. You can see how better Kristen would play Bella in New Moon rather than on the other movies. Someone said that when she played Melinda on "Speak" she had these faces that older actors spend their whole lifes trying to be able to pull and she did it with only 16! Of course, the movie will have to be directed by someone very good (I don't know about Catherine, but I think she can do it pretty well). Also, please, who cares if Taylor Lautner isn't that tall! Rupert and Daniel have heights different from their characters and you don't see fans of the series crying about it for the movies not the be made because of that. I just can't understand why people wouldn't want all the series to be made into movie. To me always seemed pretty obvious that this was the way it would be, no questions about it.

New Moon would be different when not from Bella's perspective
New Moon was the hardest book to read because of all the angst, but I would love to see it as a movie. Since the movie won't be from Bella's perspective, we would probably get to see some of what is happening to the Cullens during this time period, as well as watching the werewolf pack develop. There's lots of stuff there besides the angst.

AWESOME!
I have seen the Twilight trailers, and they all left me and my friends speechless. I think that it's a great idea that they continue with New Moon. I am a big fan of the series, and would love to see the second book on the big screen. But if they do continue, they would have to continue with the rest of the series. I wish they do though!

I definetely think they should make new moon into a movie.
there's no doubt in my mind that they have their work cut out for them but I have faith in summit and I definately think they can pull it off. as a fan of the saga I had my worries about twilight becoming a film, but I realized there's no way the movie is going to be exactly like book. I just hope the do the best they can and try to stick to the book as much as possible. which, from what I've seen, they have done a pretty good job. I can't wait to see what they will do. hopefully well be watching new moon on the big screen within a couple if years.

Ok, I'm loving everyone's comments, except for one. HOW THE HECK CAN THEY NOT MAKE BREAKING DAWN INTO A MOVIE??!! That makes NO sense. Eclipse leaves you with the cliff hanger that Bella and Edward are getting married, and most of all that Bella IS going to become a vampire. Plus, I don't agree with the "no threat" comment. The Volutri are a threat to Bella since the end of New Moon. Yea, they're slightly mentioned but they are a threat to her. Coming with the mind frame that we don't know the end to Breaking Dawn of course, but I can't wait for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Edward FINALLY pushes the boundaries with his physical relationship with Bella in Eclipse and in Breaking Dawn, they consumate their marriage. OME, if Rob Pattinson acting as Edward unleashing his burried hormones to the limit isn't enough of a reason for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, then I don't know what is!

YES for New Moon!
I'm not a teen or tween by anymeans. 30 something is more like it. I have read all the books and loved them. I am very much looking forward to the movie coming out and I definitely think it would be a great idea if they produced all 4 books into movies. I know the ending of the movie is just going to leave me wanting to see more.
On a side note I really hope Stephenie Meyer completes her 5th book from Edward's perspective. It would be nice to know his side of the story.

yes!!! for new moon
i´ve read all the books and i love them!!!
and as a twilight fan i would really LOVE to have all the other books into movies!!!! of course i think that the harder to make it work would be new moon..because bella suffers too much... and the book is more personal than the others!!! but anyway.. i mean they are professionals!!!! the movie would be great!!!!!!!!!!!! and as far as i know... and what i´ve watched of the movie (trailers, sneek peak, and the ballet scene)twilight movie is going to be really great!!!.. i´ve already have a group like of 40 people... that need to watch the movie!!! i hope they also make the other books into movies, specially breaking dawn!!!!!!!! that would be such a great thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make New Moon a movie!
I love each and every book of this series for different reasons. Out of all four, I'd have to say Twilight is my favorite since it introduces the relationship and all the conflicts and characters. A lot more of these things are developed in other books, but I think Twilight does it best. New Moon, though, is the book I usually reread the most. The heart-wrenching lines constantly make me tear up and I always feel horrible for what Bella's going through. I really want to say the separation portrayed on screen by Kristen and Rob after seeing it played so many times in my head while reading. New Moon has a lot of werewolf action, too, and I think Taylor is really eager for that! I'm really hoping that all the books get made into movies because I'd love to see my favorite characters and scenes played out on the big screen.

MAKE NEW MOON A MOVIE!
if twilight is being made into a movie, then all the books should be. i cant wait for twilight the movie to come out! but when it does i want something else to look forward to..(hence new moon the movie) =)

Begin New Moon ASAP
Time passes, actors age, and Twilight is about Vampires, for whom both are supposed to be irrelevant. I think Summit should wake up and smell the reception of this, and get moving. HOWEVER, as they're a relative new kid on the block in the production company world, I can see why they hedge. I think they're underestimating the popularity of the franchise though. The first 3 books are very popular. By BD things may wane, but NM and Eclipse should most assuredly be made.
,

...
New moon needs to be started now. I want all the movies done. Maybe one a year or more if they don't want the characters to age too much. I want it to be so big that it burys Harry Potter of which I am not a fan. Twilight is so much more emotional and the love story is comparable to the Notebook or Titanic movie. I know they will all be a hit for women and their dates all over the world.
,
October 14, 2008
Huh?
Some of you seem to lack vision. Obviously if they are smart, they will show all sides of New Moon which would follow Bella as well as Edward. And who would want to miss the Volturi? And Italy? Are you kidding me? This has so much potential if the screenplay is written well. And you cannot convince me that people would not want this to happen! Okay...obviously I am an obsessed fan...but still...so much potential there....

...
I agree with some of the comments on this page. I agree with the ones that say only Twilight be made into a movie. I personally do not believe they found good actors, thats just my opinion though. I don't care to see heated scenes of bella and edward because the actors themselves are wrong for each other. Drew barrymore and adam sandler have better chemistry. But my main concerns are things like jacob for example. How in the world are they going to make him look so big? Of course take the green mile for example, they DID make that guy look big didn't they? I cried alot through new moon, Stephanie did an awesome job explaining her emotions, something that an actor would find really hard to do. I just don't think they would get things right, the perfection of the vampires for one. I've seen better vampire movies than the screenshots I've seen of twilight, anne rices interview with the vampire had better makeup. I guess though, Stephanie was wanting them to look as normal as possible BUT they wasn't normal... Bella said how different they looked for everyone else so many different times. Also, Edward was a 17 year old in the book with the maturity level of a 100 year old. NO actor can act that good. And honestly, I don't want to see two 18 year olds getting it on on their wedding night. I read it in the books only because I knew how old Edward REALLY was and Bella was very mature for her age and 19. Besides, I enjoyed how Stephanie did away with the details, we know movies now a days HAVE to have some kind of smut in them.
Thats my two cents.

New Moon
With all the buzz and the gargantuan fandom, with shouldn't Summit just go ahead with New Moon? They are the poeple of the indusry, so they SHOULD know. Though it might be wise to wait until Twilight is realesed, i think if they have enough confidence with the reception, then they should start NOW! And I did heard from somewhere that they've already started with New Moon. So, that's good news right?
Personally, New Moon is my least favourite book of the saga since Edward is missing most of the time; except for the beginning and toward the end. If Summit realy going to make NM into a movie, then they should really add a lot of story lines about maybe how Edward when tu hunt Victoria and the Cullens at Denali. If they concentrate too much on Bella and Jacob, it will definitely be a turn off. The movie shouldn't reverently follow the book's story line. And I kind of doubt whether or not Kristen can potray the shattered and emotional Bella. But then again, I've only seen a couple of movies she played, so, guess I couldn't judge her just yet. It should be interesting to see how they're going to potray Jacob after the transformation. Jacod should be a lot taller, muscular and more mature looking ( it says in the book he looks about 27), and Taylor Lautner, well, I just can imagine how they're gonna do that. If NM is ever going to come out, I'll definitely more that excited.
,

Of course Kristen Stewart can play the shattered Bella. She is gonna break your heart. Jacob after the transition, now that is a tough one. There wolf boys are so cool. I really wish they could pull of the Jacob transition, but I just don't see how. New Moon was my favorite. It's where the characters earn their existence.

Where?
Jenbain76-you mention an outtake about Edward's call from Rosalie-WHERE DID YOU FIND THAT?! As much as I like all of the books, Edward's perspective is my favorite (not so much "smoldering", "perfection" and "velvet voice" :)), and I would love to read that.

trilogy is best
i'm one of the new fan to the twilight series and i did enjoy three out the four books written. ever since i stumbled across the well written saga i've been really excited for twilight to be released. when i heard of the possibillity of new moon it only added to the anticipation there. but after reading the comments i think summit should wait at least until they know for sure that fans respond well to twilight because considering the geograpical locations in new moon they're going to have to increase their budget significantly with parts of the movie taking place in italy. also with considering the whole concept of vampires and warewolves they'll have to film the books back to back to portray the characters in the same age. i love the series but i didnt particulary care for breaking dawn. i thought it was rather graphic and if they did make it into a movie they'd have to raise the rating to r. all in all i cant wait to see twilight and if summit decides to continue with the books

It's pathetic to admit...
But being as into the books as I am, I know im going to like the movies regardless. I hate to make yet another HP comparison, but here I go; People love the HP books and even though EVERY SINGLE HP READER/MOVIE SEER complains about how different they are, they still see every single movie that comes out. Just knowing a few of the fans I know for Twilight, it's going to be the same thing. It's pathetic to admit that even if Twilight the movie is a huge piece of crap, i'd still line up and wait in the cold for New Moon waiting impatiently until they let me into the building. What's even crazier is, I know I won't be alone.
So should Summit dive into New Moon? I think it would be stupid not to.

sequels and money
Well written and well researched! Yes, they will wait and for good reasons. Nothing is certain, especially in the entertainment industry and especially with the fan base. Wouldn't we all love to think EVERYONE will be in the theaters? Then, of course there's the stock market. My bet is that billion dollars has shrunk quite a bit and Merrill Lynch has issues to say the least at the moment. They will wait and see..... Of course I'm dying to see them all on film, so my words don't even make ME happy! Sigh!

...
I stand by the following, but I have to say New Moon was not my favorite. Nevertheless, I, as many others, want to see ALL the books made into movies. I agree that Breaking Dawn would be the visually stimulating (couldnt you just see all the witnesses?. BUT I have always said that they will need a much bigger budget to pull the rest of them off, because of the locations (Italy!). Lets ALL get behind the first movie so rest will be made possible.
TWILIGHT MANIFESTA WE BELIEVE Stephenie Meyer has created one of the best sagas ever WE BELIEVE Catherine Hardwicke & co. has created a remarkable film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s indubitably significant and emotive work WE KNOW that you don’t need a big budget, super-corporate movie studio to make an amazing film WE PLEDGE to SUPPORT the Twilight film in droves so that the rest of the Twilight Series lives on, on the silver screen (including Breaking Dawn) •We will go see this movie with our best friend •We will go see this movie with our mother/father/guardian •We will go see this movie with our boyfriend/partner/girlfriend •We will persuade everyone we know to give Twilight a chance, with the expectation that they will find it as undeniably magical as WE find it WE WILL go see the Twilight film after the opening weekend WE are an undeniable FORCE and we will prove every neighsayer/movie critic/detractor of Twilight because WE KNOW the Twilight Series is an incredible epic and WE BELIEVE Twilight IS the Romeo & Juliet of THIS TIME The POWER of GRRRLS & BOYS, when they come together and cooperate is UNSTOPPABLE and we will mobilize and motivate each other, as we’ve done on the internet, to make this saga live on, on film, and hopefully with more books WE EXPRESS OUR SINCEREST GRATITUDE to Stephenie Meyer for enthralling us and inspiring us to create our own webpages, poems, literature, videos, songs, and other artistic endeavors Authored by: BITgrrrl, Esq.

Let's bring on New Moon!
Summit Entertainment, if you're reading this, then you shoudl know that New moon should start being thought about. I mean, the actors are getting older, and for characters who aren't supposed to age, don't you think that could be a disastrous thing? Believability might be lost, and the actors who are supposed to be 17 are then 30 ny the time Breaking Dawn comes out. It would be a good idea to make another before Twilight even comes out, or at least start casting and writing the scripts. Anyway, all the best!
,
October 15, 2008
NEW MOON?....DEFINITELY!!
Summit should totally start New Moon. For three reasons. First, we all know that vampires can't age. Also, the books only cover a short period of time. All the actors need to look the same! Second, the sooner they start the movie, the sooner we get to see it!!! Who doesn't want that? Lastly, Twilight is definitely going to be hit at the box office. They shouldn't be worried about anything concerning that. I already plan on seeing it repeatly...the day it comes out!! Come on Summit! You know you wanna do it!
,

if..
i think it's fine to do a sequel, and eclipse. but not breaking dawn. so many things with that movie wouldn't even be possible. so if theyre doing new moon and eclipse, they might as well start them as soon as possible so there isn't as much of a wait between movies. harry potter for example. they take too long between movies! now it's pushed back to july. thats like what..2 years between the movies almost? thats too long. so yea. it's a good idea to do them as close together as possible.

myheartsnsocal: Eragon bombed because a lack of budget and a lack of the genius that Twilight was privileged to get. Also, because Paolini wasn't involved in the script like Stephenie was with Twilight, and JKRowling was with Harry Potter.
I have high hopes for Twilight, and, even if it doesn't turn out quite to my expectations (which I doubt from all the previews we've gotten), I would still want a New Moon (and Eclipse and Breaking Dawn :])
,
October 15, 2008
atleast right the script
I think that summit should atleast finish the script and then after they see, what we already know will be great reviews they should then start the procedure for filming and everything.
I for one would LOVE to see new moon turned into a movie. And I'm not worried the movie won't b turned into a movie. And when it does Catherine will do abgrest job with it. I can't wait.

stop at eclipse, if not twilight.
i love the books series, but they should stop at twilight. new moon is too emotional and won't do good at the box office. either hollywood will butcher it or make it into complete sappy crap. eclipse would be a good movie, but the ending would have to be drawn out a lot, as it is the main excitement of the book. breaking dawn would be a horrible movie. i like the book, but only as a book. a movie adaptation would be horrific.
if they keep going, they should stop at Eclipse. maybe even call it Breaking Dawn instead. they can do all of Eclipse's fight scene, show B&E's wedding, and then stop with Bella opening her Newborn eyes. they should skip anything and everything pertaining to Renesmee, but cram Eclipse and the beginning of Breaking Dawn together. that sounds best to me.

...
As a member of the fandom, I get swept up in Twilight mania and sometimes fail to remember that a good chunk of the world has no idea what Twilight is. I made my brother watch the trailer (he's never read or heard anything about the books) and he was not impressed and thought it looked cheesy and dumb. Yes, it appeals to fans, but how much draw is it going to get from the general public. I think Summit is smart, waiting just to be sure.
,
October 15, 2008
I would prefer not.
Because I've been a fan of the books for so long, I think that the first book being adapted is quite enough.
Movie adaptations have a way of ruining the books, and I do not have high hopes for the Twilight film. I would not like to see New Moon ruined as well, because I know that is exactly what will happen. The stories get more complex as the series progresses and I do not want to see all of the storyline lost because the movie company cannot afford to keep all the little details just right. They've already lost a lot with Twilight, and I would hate to see that happen with New Moon.

WHY NOT?
Even if Twilight the movie sucks, I'd still LOVE to see New Moon! Why wouldn't they? I mean seriously...WHAT WOULD BE THE POINT IN MAKING ONE?!

Omg when they make the movie i am gonna die and go to heaven. Im gonna cry so much for New Moon.

HALLAUJA CHORUS!!! HEAR THE ANGELS SING!!!
Bring on the sequel!!! But you might want to consider back-to-back filming...
But what about Steph's idea that you can't CG Nessie for the first few days? Because if they're gonna go for a sequel, they need to look at options for CGI; eventually, they'll have to do BD, and Stephenie said Renesmee would need to look human. Has CGI even gotten that far yet? I hope so... for the sake of Jake/Nessie fans!! ;D

...
I think all the books, including Breaking Dawn should be made into movies. There are so many things they can do to make New Moon unique. I have a group of 60 people from our area who are planning on seeing Twilight at least 5 times together. If all the fans ban together and see Twilight several times, maybe summit will go ahead with New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn!
,
October 15, 2008
errr.... i don't.. know.
okay so I've been a fan since the beginning of the Twilight era.
I've read each book 7 times and this is my 3rd re-read of Breaking Dawn, having said that, i can really sink into New Moon and find little things i've never noticed. New Moon might be a very complex book to portray on the big screen. I mean, Bella's pain is the most part of it, and that would be to hard for someone to show. I just can't imagine seeing that. But then again maybe im underestimating Kstew for not being able to do that ( btw: i think she makes a great Bella anyhow :) And i mean, im a total team switzerland. Jacob is supposed to get WAY taller in New Moon. how can they just make him look buffer and taller? highheels? i think not. I'd really rather they stop with Twilight in my opinion. Twilight will undoubtedly do well in the cinema anyhow. So theres a big possibility New Moon will be made. Errgghh... I just can't imagine all the pain and emotions from New Moon shown on the big screen. They also might change it alot as we saw in Kellan Lutz "Twilight Tuesday" interview, he said they had changed many things from Twilight that aren't in the book (i guess they had to). New Moon NEEDS to remain PERFECT and UNCHANGED. kthx :) BUUUUTTTTT..... im SOOOOO excited for the Twilight movie!! I think they'll do a great job cause from what i've seen in the trailers (and the script leak) it feels kindof like the book! The chemistry between them feels very real. :DDD

Bring the sequels on ...
I think most people know that a sequel will be inevitable. They are going to be a big box office hit! Everyone who's read the Twilight series is going to go to the all the movies. I'm all for back to back filming. Like as said in earlier comments, they are vampires and they don't age. Besides the books are all based within a few years of each other. As far as the CGI issues for Breaking Dawn, well those CGI people love a challenge and Renesmee will be a big one, but I say go for it. As far as Jacob having to grow taller, well I think for the sake of movie making it should be fine. Movies are a different bread of animal than books. Just because a movie may not follow a book precisely doesn't mean it's not a fantastic adaptation. You can't do a bunch of internal conflict like a book can, but you can still make a good movie by using acting. LOL! Bring on the sequels, they'll be great, and they'll all be hits!
,

new moon movie?? hell yes!
I disagree with some of the commments...all 4 books should be made into movies.I know lots of people believes the storyline would get lost but I think the opposite..it would take the story to a hole new level. Breaking Dawn for example, they could manipulate things to make what happens in the book really intense and not just disgusting and silly as many people see it. If they are capable to discover just the essence (attention! essence not an exact copy) and beauty of the books they can actually do great! you don't seem to understand the impact of powerful images well orchestrated. And that's not a matter of budget, is a matter of vision. Well maybe I'm just a real fan of movies as well.

Most definitely for the sequels
I have never been more excited about having books I’ve read made into movies before. I am certain that the movie makers would be blown away at how incredibly well each one of these movies would do. If I had the money to make these movies I would do it! I have read all 4 of the books a couple of times & I’m so excited for the Twilight movie that I’ve been counting the days. I would love to see all 4 of the books made into movies & if they made them all into movies. If they come out anything like the previews we’ve seen of Twilight, they’ll be fantastic! Of course whenever books are turned into movies, it is inevitable that there’ll have to be some alteration the story due to the different format. But I as long as the script writers & directors are devoted to staying true to Stephanie’s books, it can be done very well. I know Stephanie mentioned concern about how quickly Renesmee grows in BD & how to capture this in reality, but I am sure they can figure some thing out with all our capabilities with CGI. I am certain that the movie makers would be blown away at how incredibly well these movies would do. But they need to make them soon because the kids are vampires. They don't age, yet in real life they are aging. So the longer the wait to make the subsequent movies the older these actors will be in real life & the less realistic it will be. I also think it would be detrimental to the subsequent movies if they wait a few years to decide to make these movies, as all the actors will all have aged, & or they may not be available to do the movies. It definitely wouldn’t go over well if they have to use different actors for the movie.

Not just teens who love these books
One other thing is that it isn't just teens who are into the this series. I am in my 50's & my peers & I have read all the books too & just love them. We are all looking so forward to the movie(s). I've always been into vampires & vampires with a soul. But have never been so touched as I was by these books, these characters. They feel so alive & real. Stephanie has an incredible talent. So of course by having the movies, we can have these characters who we have come to love (Edward & Bella, Jacob & the others), truly come to life, on film, forever...). These movies will do incredibly well without a doubt...

Eclipse as the end
I'm would really love to see Eclipse as a movie... and for that to happen New moon would have to be made... Im not sure if all the internalized angst could hold a movie but i must admit the volturi and new moon climax is one of my favorites and that and Bella finding Edward COULD be very 'visually dynamic'.
But i really believe that it should stop at eclipse!!! not because i didn't like breaking dawn.. I really did. Its just that i think all all of them that one would not translate as well. Better to leave it with the promise of Bella's wedding and change in the near future and wrap up the volturi and Jacob more neatly in Eclispe. I think that would be a much better way to finish it because it really seems like the end of Bellas human journey which twilight started... Breaking Dawn goes into a new life and is seems kind of like the BEGGINING of Bellas life story as a vampire. I really really think that Eclipse would be a great ending with the audience left to imagine their impending wedding and unitiy forever... Despite all this i think they should wait for Twilight to be released first!!

response to cinthia
"you don't seem to understand the impact of powerful images well orchestrated. And that's not a matter of budget, is a matter of vision. Well maybe I'm just a real fan of movies as well."
cinthia, I do understand the impact of powerful images and I am a "real" fan of movies. I respect your opinion greatly, but will have to agree to disagree. The only reasons I have problems with the other 3 made into movies is because of how much is thought. New Moon is so much about how Bella is feeling and I just don't think personally I could take watching Kristen Stewart convey that on screen (and I think she could do it very well). I wouldn't mind seeing Eclipse made into a movie because I think there is a lot there that could be done well. Breaking Dawn, I just don't know about the whole Reneesme part. Not the birth, but her growing up so quickly. Don't get me wrong, I am not worried about screenwriters taking their liberties with Stephenie's writing...they have already done that with Twilight (with her approval). I am just very protective of these books and don't want them turned into a joke. With the exception of a few book series made into movies (Harry Potter, LOTR), most turn to crap by the second or third movie. I don't want that to happen to these books!

Be careful, Summit
I certainly hope Summit decides to do sequels, but I think they should wait until they see what Twilight does first. Twilight may not actually be as huge a hit as all of us fans would like it to be, and it would be better to have one movie (after all, Twilight is the most important part of the series, in my opinion) than just two or three. If they do one sequel they have to finish.

The success of the Twilight franchise is mind-blowing, which is what scares me.. I 'discovered' the books mid August this year and read them all in 5 days, I could've read them all in 4 but I had to put New Moon down for a while. The way Bella's emotions are described were just heartbreaking and I cried! (lame eh) But yes, I did cry because I felt I could relate, which brings me to wonder how on earth they'll be able to portray all the pain she's going through. I'm definitely not worried about Kristen Stewart because she's simply amazing, what worries me is the plot. I'm guessing Summit will want to have Rob Pattinson in there to get more girls to go to solely watch him, and that might just make the story lose its meaning.
If it is going to happen then Summit, please don't try to rip us off!

One thing to remember...
As a SAHM, I didn't even hear about the Twilight books until this summer. I have turned into a 'squeeing' fangirl over the books, as well as the movie. I think we need to remember that there are those who will just be discovering Twilight with the coming movie. This thing is still GROWING. I predict it's going to get much, much bigger. That said, I believe the budget will be there to make the subsequent movies even better than the first. Remember HPotter? The first one was good, but by the third one, the budget had really afforded some high quality improvements to the technology.

Here's to New Moon
I think this movie should be made. When I first read it, I was a bit bored with New Moon. I was one of those people who were screaming "Where's Edward!!!!" after the first chapter without him. This fall though, I've gotten the chance to read the books over again, and I really did like it more than initially. I was still bored with a little bit of it, but I liked it better. I hope this movie does get made. It could be interesting to see how this relationship between Bella and Jacob translates to the screen. I also want to see everything in Italy. Ooooh...I hope they make it!

Novels
I think the first three books would make great movies but the fourth is a little more graphic than the original three. I don't know that it sticks with the teenage girl mentality. I think marriage, sex and birth are a tad bit much for a young teenage mind. I loved all four books and had never heard about them till the movie. I was so excited that I read the books because I couldn't wait for the movie. Now I sit anxiously awaiting the release of Twilight. I am like most fans who check fandango everyday for updates and watch the Twilight trailers many times. I think that the fist three books would make a very good sequels. We already know that Twilight is going to gross billions thanks to Stephenie's fans! She Rocks!!!

On the fence
I am a little on the fence about the movies. I read all of the books in 4 days (my family was wondering if I was dead) and I have a set image in my mind of how everyone and everything looks. After seeing the trailer, I was a little diappointed that the Edward I had pictured was not quite who they cast (not saying that he is not attractive!). I just think that I might be disappointed in the movies if they don't accuratley follow the books. That being said...I think that I NEED the movies to be made just to "relive" the magic from reading the books the first time around. AND..I have to agree with some of the posts here that the part of Midnight Sun that Stephanie put on her website is BY FAR my favorite out of the whole series. I really hope that she ends up finishing that one since there is so much more intensity when Edward is telling the story. Just my 2 cents! :)

...
Paige T.-Same situation here. My tween daughter bugged me until I agreed to read the books this summer, and now I've read each countless times. For me, the biggest question is the direction of the movie, and the performances Hardwicke gets from her actors. I looked up her other films over the summer to get a feel for her directoral style, and it can be sort of uneven or 'raw', even within the same movie. That is often acceptable for independent films, but might not translate well for a mass audience raised on ultraslick Spielberg (and his like) films. Don't get me wrong-I like her immensely and love independent film-I just hope it translates to the "Disney generation" which this film will need to have to get big numbers. Then again, I will feel betrayed if she changed her style just to get that demographic. Quite the conundrum:)!

...
I think "Twilight" will do well enough for Summit that they'll want to do the "New Moon" sequel, and I absolutely agree w/ the posters who think they should film the other movies at the same time. I would love to see some of what Edward was doing while he was away, since we only know bits and pieces of it from the books. That could make the movie really interesting, and since Rob Pattinson is getting so much attention right now, I doubt they'd want to keep him out of 2/3rds of the 2nd movie. I would also love to see the Volturi come to life on the big screen. The last few chapters of "New Moon" are my absolute favorite of the entire series. It would also be great to see "Eclipse", and w/ "Breaking Dawn" a lot could be condensed and some of the grossness could be taken out. They could just give us an idea of what Bella goes through during the birth and being changed. We don't need to see the blood and all of her suffering. It would be too graphic. I'd be eager to see the special effects they'd use for the wolves and the vamps, though. The other movies would definitely be more expensive to make than "Twilight".

Summit's Financial Backing
So, Merrill Lynch, huh? I'm wondering how the recent economic crisis will affect that $1 Bil that Summitt supposedly has access to. Hopefully it won't negatively affect the Twilight franchise! I'm sure opening weekend numbers (even if it's only the frenzied Twi-tweens that show up and watch it 3x a day the entire weekend) will still be good enough to keep the project greenlit.

...
Even if the movie is horrible, it is going to make a killing the opening weekend. The fan base in the USA alone is tremendous, and I think the movie will do well and be loved by fans regardless of if it actually IS a good film. This is simply because Twilight fans are like heroin addicts and they can't get enough of Edward and Bella. I guarantee if new Moon is made, it will still have a loyal following. By the way, I am a 35 year old mother of two...and I am Twilight Addict..so Its not just the teens they are appealing to.

YES YES YES!!!! I feel that Summit should get to work RIGHT AWAY on ALL of the remaining books. Can you tell I'm a fan!!!!

New Moon and the rest of the books
I agree with shooting all the films together as with the HP series. I am a 40 something mum with a 17 yo daughter, (with a hubby as well), but we are totally intrenched with anything Twilight. While I like my idea of Edward, he is pretty good when RP is made up like Edward, and my daughter is totally in love with RP and Edward in or out of make up, not everyone will be happy with the movie stars and the scenes.
New Moon should be made including Edward more, as was said before, Edward is the draw card for the Twilight franchise and it would be just silly not to include his suffering in the New Moon movie. As for Jacob, I am thinking maybe they would do a "Gollum" (LOTR) with his height and age thing. I am from Australia and we are not getting enough merchandise here, Borders book stores are supposed to be the official place to get the extra movie stuff, but we get no joy from them at all. So all you in the US think yourselves lucky you get the movie earlier than us as well as the posters, books etc.

Yes to New Moon
I want New Moon to be a movie. i think they can handle it. I mean twilight cant just end there...... it has to have a sequal. I think New Moon would be awesome. I also think that they should do the rest of the saga. Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. If it comes to the worst they will mix 2 books together. (which i dont want to happen)....... So i say yes for New Moon to be a movie :D
I would be ultra excited if they decide to do it!

...
I am really enjoying hearing that I am not alone on my feelings about New Moon. I too had a hard time with my 1st go round reading NM due to Edwards absence through so much of the book, yet was also amazed at how affected I was by Bella's immense pain. (Cannot remember crying so much reading a book). Then the scene in Italy…Oh unbelievable! I get chills just thinking about it all again. But back to when Bella was without Edward… Of course we all know Edward was suffering equally as much during that time. I love the idea that a couple of you mentioned where they could integrate scenes reflecting Edwards’s simultaneous emotional experience into the movie. This can be done easily in a movie and actually could really be quite innovative and moving if they can really tap into the depth of their love, their pain and their sense of loss. Oh if we could all just put our 2 cents into the direction of the movie…& how this scene should be and that scene should be & ….Right? But I truly do believe I have read some incredibly good ideas & thoughts in all these comments here. Twilight Fans are so Wonderful!!!

shake your money maker
I think it would be in a better interest to combine new moon and part of eclipse BECAUSE new moon is VERY internal and parts of it can be cut out and the outside conflict is minimal where eclipse could come into play and then be cut off to be mingled with parts of breaking dawn (because it is FAR too long to be a movie) like they did with characters movies need to convey the ideas and the main points - it's a movie not the book played out, if you want the book played out, read it - I like books made into movies because it gives you a different twist and spin on the characters and the central ideas. You can't compare them, you have to take them separately and enjoy them for what they are
I would love to see where Summit takes this potential money maker because of all the fans (including myself) I became a fan after being a camp counselor to obsessed middle school girls! haha I feel like no matter what girls will be spending their money to see this - and if not to see the movie - to see robert pattinson and taylor lautner - a lot of what makes this series is the dialogue between bella and edward and the relationship and if that remains in the movie girls will swoon everywhere

i think they should do three movies, cos breaking dawn would be incredibly difficult.
1. twilight movie 2. new moon/eclipse - instead of edward coming back because he thinks bella has died, it will be because victoria has come back. they will defeat them, but then the volturi will come and get pissed at them. but then they go away and the end. 3. eclipse/breaking dawn - the whole edward jacob battle. then edward an bella marry. bella wont get pregnant, sorry renesmee as cute as you are. but their will be a big volturi thing. where all the vampires overule them. or something like that. and then they all live happily ever after.
