- - - tMF takes the initiative and will launch a full-scale promotional blitz for the movie, Little Ashes. Just in case you're still clueless about it, Little Ashes is an upcoming movie about artist Salvador Dali. You might have frowned or been amused when you read the quotation above, but that's Dali. He is not only controversial, but also fearless and quite frankly knows how important he is. But this sense of self-importance is not particularly 'self-serving', if that makes sense. Dali is a revolutionary of sorts: he abhors conformity and his work - an impressive collection of paintings - is not what you would call ordinary. So why is it that filmmakers have, up til now, failed to put his life on the big screen? Never mind - that's exactly what's going to happen soon! Here's what @IMDb has for now:
- - -
- - - Sounds fascinating and intriguing right? What's so special about the movie is that it has Robert Pattinson playing one of the lead roles. In fact, he's playing Salvador Dali himself. As you know, he's been chosen to portray the vampire Edward Cullen in the upcoming Twilight movie, scheduled for release this November 12, and many have been wondering why all the buzz around Pattinson? Two days after I posted an article that dwelt on that question, I got more than 10,000 hits and more than 50 comments answering why. So we obliged and now want to get more about the film. Apparently, the only significant publicity for the movie was not even 'official'. Regent Releasing, however, has now launched the movie's official website and people await updates like crazy. Enter tMF and a group of hardcore Robert Pattinson fans! As of today, we have started organizing the group that will launch a special project to provide a much-needed publicity blitz for Little Ashes. We're doing this voluntarily, and yes, we're going to spend money (as if the hacking incident were not enough!) in order to come up with a kick-ass promotional website. If you're interested, we're still in need of writers and researchers. Visit the project forum asap for more details. - - - [ Little Ashes, the movie @blogspot ] [ Official movie site ] [ Robert Pattinson tMF Special Project board ] x

I posted this on the other article, when the 2 were 1. Now this article is lonely...so let me say again:
I'm so proud to be a part of this special project. This film and this actor deserve the hype and attention that is being given to that other film of Robert Pattinson's. However, as an Independent...and a controversial Independent as well...it won't receive the same publicity. And that's where we've had to step in to try to give Little Ashes the recognition it deserves! And of course, I will be supporting tMF both financially with what little I can, as well as devotedly with my time and efforts in this project! It's more than deserved on both counts!

That's a great idea!!
I'd love to be part of this promotional project. I can't wait to see the film and believe that this story deserves to be brought to a variety of theaters. It should be able to be recognized for the storyline and this tremendously talented actor. How do you get involved?

Like KP I would like to know how to fully get involved. Do we need to all send the letters like the one that was drafted, or shall we all write different letter to really get their attention? Let us know!
This film needs to have wide distribution!

I definately want to support Little Ashes!
I am fully supporting this movie! Not only for Rob's sake, but for the support of Dali and his work. This was one our biggest inspirational artists and should be understood. I have written a little about him in support of the film and your site. Please visit my blog and I wish you all the luck with getting this movie all around!!

This initiative should be posted on the Twilight sites too. I'm sure fans would be delighted to help in any way they can.

Some suggestions
Suggestions:
1. Develop Little Ashes sites on You tube, myspace and facebook/Bebo. 2. Work with the producers to manage the official film site 3. Obtain photographs from the film to help with pr. 4. Keep the IMDB Little Ashes page up to date 5. Try and get the LA Times and Variety interested in the film. Also Entertainment Weekly and MTV. They seem to have good taste and like Rob so you should be able to get them to bite. THe film is interesting so its not as if we are trying to get them interested in rubbish. 6. Develop PR strategy. Why do we particularly want to see this film. Whats the hook. 7. Find some fans who are skilled with graphics to develop pr material e.g icons/wallpapers/ etc to make the supporting sites as sexy as possible. 8. Find out when the trailer will be ready and work with producers to publicise its release. 9. Send some of the pr stills to Dark Horizons and other leading entertainment sites. 10. Is the focus on the US release or are fans expected to bang the drum in many countries.[Need producers feedback on release dates world wide] 11. Contact Empire/Total film to see if they are interested in publicising the film. 12. Ensure the trailer is available from all the key sites including Dark Horizons/IESB. 13. Look at pr strategy for successful small films like Juno. See what we can use. 14. Try and get interview with Rob - that will certainly help sell the film. Failing that the other two lead actors in the film. 15. A few snippets from the script might create a lot of excitement. In other words a calculated leak..... 16. Interviews with behind the scenes team e.g costume designer, scriptwriters etc 17. Is a widget out of the question. I dont know how expensive it is to develop.

One request. If you do secure interviews with any of the cast or production team it would be useful if the audio coudl be made available. There's nothing like hearing them talk. Add it to a dedicated you tube channel.

Many thanks!
Hi Caz! You listed some incredibly cool suggestions! The group is doing everything it can to come up with an amazing promotional site and hopefully we can promote the movie to all- not only in the US but to gain international release.
As for the interviews, we'll certainly put that in mind. Thanks! Jed

Aint it cool website
One thing to add to that list. How about an early review of the film. That would create a lot of excitement. The Aint it Cool website likes to get involved with films and post early reviews. I;ve read some reviews where they are invited to sit in on editing to get a feel of the film before they see it fully. Cant we suggest that to the producers.

I think Caz's pointers are excellent. I do think first and foremost the tFM people need to contact the Little Ashes producers to see who is doing what. There is no point in duplicating effort in areas.
Why not discuss where tFM and fans can help most. Maybe the producers would be trusting enough to let designated individuals contact sites like Aintitcool and IESB on behalf of the film . If not then the producers certainly need to be contacting entertainment sites that can help spread the good word. tFM and fans need to come up with a check list/project plan milestones of key pr activitities that need to be done either by the producers or this site before the film's release. Just the release of the trailer needs its own checklist to ensure its as effective as it can be. There are a number of US entertainment sites that focused on Twilight. G4 for instance. We need a list of all of those so that they discuss the trailer too e.g Reelzchannel. Mayeb there needs to be a competition to create a fan trailer as well. Maybe wiht a prize at the end.

Juno was released by film released by Fox Searchlight so not really that independent

To help the film get known by word of mouth the producers really need to make sure the trailer is enticing. Sexy and leave the audience wanting more.

I know the owner of the Garman Opera House, the independent cinema here where I live. Currently, I am lobbying for her to carry How To Be. If that is a success, I should have no problems getting her to carry Little Ashes. I will watch the Little Ashes website for a downloadable Press Kit and a trailer/pictures/ect that I can point her to look at when the time comes.
Dunno what else I can do, but I'll join the project and see if I can be of help. Of the new films coming out, Little Ashes is the one I am most anxious to see. Be safe, Izzy

Why thank you =]
I read the suggestions and they are pretty bloody amazing, I have a couple of friends who like Indie Films, and plus I'm one of those people who feel like Rob's a bestfriend I haven't seen in ages and just want to support him anyway I can. So I'm going to go nuts about this, and just go on the films website, jam my brain with information on this film as much as I can, and read a bit bout Salvador Dali so I know what I can work on to tell people.
I am a writer so I can be as creative and honest as I can be =] With a touch of beauty in it as well

Little Ashes Thread in Soompi???
I just wanted to know if Little Ashes already has a thread in soompi.com. If there's none yet...maybe I can try to make one. I really hope this movie becomes a hit and Rob and company get nominated. I'm hearing a lot of good things about this movie and its cast.
