One of our top 50 book to movie adaptation picks was Richard Yates’ Revolutionary Road, the story of a young couple living in a Connecticut suburb during the mid-1950s and struggling to come to terms with their personal problems while trying to raise their two children. The upcoming adaptation stars two of cinema’s most popular and talented actors: Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

Say the actors:

''Revolutionary Road is so painful and beautiful to read, simply because of the brutality of the honesty that Frank and April end up experiencing together," Kate told Entertainment Weekly.

''I looked at it almost like doing a play,'' says DiCaprio. ''It was one of those situations where it just focused on these two characters, the degradation of their marriage, and who they think they are. I just thought, Wouldn't it be a wonderful experience to do it with Kate?''

The excitement about and anticipation for the Sam Mendes film is mounting. Entertainment Tonight is about to show a segment featuring Di Caprio and Winslet, looking back at the Titanic couple and discussing the new film, their roles and the Oscar buzz.

One of Di Caprio’s fansites posted the video featuring the special ET segment.

Earlier on, Empire magazine did a feature on the film proclaiming another triumph for the Titanic team and for Sam Mendes. Voters from the popular website show that 59% are highly anticipating the movie, while 19% show little to no interest.

The movie was supposed to be doing the rounds of film festivals but was delayed due to the writers’ strike. However, advance limited screenings (test screenings) produced nothing but raves and praises for the new movie. Here’s one of the first blog entries about it:

A show-stopping Leonardo DiCaprio becomes Frank Wheeler - the point of view which the story is mostly told from - with remarkable power and an insight we only get from the greatest kind of actors. Allowing the audience to become fully immersed in his psyche, letting us feel everything with him. Living his pain, resentment, and the smorgasbord of emotions in between. It is highly accomplished pieces of acting from the lead actor that I cannot imagine being ignored come this award season.

While some moviegoers would say that they don’t listen to what critics say, in this case, it seems both critics and ordinary film lovers are looking forward to the Titanic team up.

I don't know where he exactly watched the test screen, but from his superlatives alone, I think he's really quite impressed with the film. I'm sure we'll hear more from mainstream film reviewers very soon.

I have not read the book, but yes, I'm very excited for the film now. I love that it was DiCaprio's idea for Kate to be involved. There's no doubt they have the chemistry and are both fantastic actors...

Thanks for more info on this film!
