Andrew Garfield already won Best Actor for this movie at the BAFTAs. He certainly deserved the award and tMF considers Garfield as one of the most talented among the British actors currently invading Hollywood. Here's another great news for the film!

According to Screen Daily, Boy A has won another award:

John Crowley's Boy A picked up the top Hitchcock d'Or prize among four awards at the 19th Festival du Film Britannique de Dinard.

The film, which stars Peter Mullan and Andrew Garfield, won the Grand Prix Jury - The Hitchcock d'Or; the Grand Marnier trophy for best screenplay for Mark O'Rowe; the Prix Kodak for Rob Hardy's cinematography; and the Hitchcock d'Argent 'Le Prix Premier du Public', awarded to the public's favourite film of the festival.

Boy A saw off the challenge of five competitors:

A Complete History of My Sexual Failures (Chris Waitt)
Clubbed (Neil Thompson)
Helen (Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor)
The Escapist (Rupert Wyatt)
The Market (Ben Hopkins) [ read more ]

tMF posted a spotlight review of Boy A and I quote a portion of the review here:

The performances in the film are first-rate across the board. The success of the film rests on the performance of the lead character and Andrew Garfield is absolutely believable in his transformation from the shy Jack who leaves prison to the Jack who has a job and a girlfriend and who just wants to take his place in society. Katie Lyons is charismatic and sexy as the outgoing Michelle, the butt of office jokes. Peter Mullan, one of Scotland's most under-rated actors, gives a solid performance as the social worker who has devoted his life to Boy A to the detriment of his relationship to his own son.

Cheers!
I searched this movie online when I read your spotlight review not too long ago. I managed to watch it and I loved it. I've said it before, but it's a bittersweet movie. Nice to know this film is cleaning up nicely with reception and awards alike.
