STATE OF BLOGGING: Some of the sites we love! PDF Print E-mail

Since I started The Movie-Fanatic, I've been quite particular with all the posts I made. I believed that quality is much more important than quantity. I hate posting about crap, so we (the tMF team) tried very hard not to post anything just for the sake of posting. So what's this post about? It's not about crap, be sure of that. Its about three things:

- - -

- - -

I Hate Cats But I Love Pussy - Isn’t it ironic? Probably not because most of the girls I’ve met with cats are girls you wouldn’t want to sleep with anyway. Now I’m drifting off topic. So if there’s one topic for a website that’s sure to draw my ire, it’s cats. But you know what’s curious? Almost none of her posts are about cats. The vast majority of her posts are entries into online contests. Why?

That's not me! I'm quoting a site review from IHateYourWebsite.com

#1. Site Review: I'm going to actually submit tMf for a site review next month with either Tyler Cruz or some other top site reviewers...but at this point, I'm thinking why not get a review from this guy?

- - -

#2. Traffic: I'm enjoying the surge of traffic and visitors! Since January, I've noticed that there are a lot of comments coming from lots of blogs and fansites. That's a tremendous boost to tMF and we've made sure we comment back. As you can see it's now our policy that any comment we get, we respond back with not just one but 2 or more. We say what we mean, and mean what we say.

There are also some ads appearing on tMF. One of them is the popular entrecard. It's where you can find lots of blogs (I'm especially looking for movie blogs to affiliate with!) and all you need to do is visit websites drop your card and wait for them to drop back. You may want to place an ad at tMF, we're quite cheap- for a site that boasts of 1,200+ unique visitors per day that is...

What makes entrecard cool is that I've found some amazing movie blogs. Here's 3 of them:

Quite new, launched just last January, I find this site to be quite amazing. For starters, Jaden, the owner is a freelance writer who did projects for some of the big film studios in Hollywood. I'm sure there will be lots of new articles that would give us more insights into the Hollywood scene. One of the most interesting posts I've read over there is: 80 Years of Oscar Losers I Love. I'm not into much of classics, but there are some interesting movies on the list worth watching. There's also a nice article about Heath Ledger- not at all crappy and silly like most of the stuff you can read from the vultures who love to exploit people's misery.

- - -

Also new with a color scheme I love! Sometimes to get visitors' attention, a website needs to be fearless, and I find this site to be just that. Jean, the owner also posted quite a number of interesting articles worth reading, not the usual crap you see from the usual movie blogs that populate the net. Here's one good article about the lack of originality in Hollywood: Can Hollywood Come Up With Better Ideas? I agree with one of the comments that Hollywood is fear and money driven, so I would not expect the big studios to just suddenly do an about face and start making smart and challenging movies. Show me the money!

- - -

Our first ever link at entrecard! I'm sure many of the blogs who applied for an advert slot at tMF hate me now, but we can't just have any ads appear here. Would you expect us to put up an ad about cats? Anyway, worth the popcorn has this concept of featuring one movie per day, and it's quite a novelty- Casual Monday,
Indie Tuesday, Documentary Wednesday.. you get the drift. I discovered some amazing Asia movies there myself, so I would highly recommend that you go visit this site too!

#3. Fansite of the month feature: tMF is also going to launch the fansite of the month feature. Stay tuned tomorrow for the first ever site of the month!

Thanks for this! I discovered a couple of new sites smilies/smiley.gif. Entrecard is great for discovering new sites, I've read that some 3000 blogs are part of it now.

3000 is a scary number of blogs. Yikes.
I am right there with you folks about not wanting to put up crap blogs just to put up something. The amount of time I spend writing one post is over the top, but I am a perfectionist. The writing on the majority of blogs is embarrassing, especially when they are instructing on how to write!

That cat-pussy quote is purrrrrfectly funny.

Oh! My dial-up is so slow, half this article just popped up after I left a comment.

Thanks for spotlighting my site!

I like Sizzling Popcorn too.

Your site is informative, interesting, entertaining, and tasteful too, hence why I am here.

Soundtrackgeek, Entrecard is growing all the time. It's great how you can find new blogs easily.

Jaden, I agree with you, there's a lot of blogs out there that are filled with spelling mistakes. Each of my postings takes about 3-4 hours of my time, considering the 2 or so hours it takes to watch a movie and then an hour to two of formulating, writing and proofreading my review before I post.

Jed and the team, keep up the great work! Your site is interesting and provides me with information when I'm reviewing a movie of a rising star.

It would seem hard to talk about Casey Affleck without mentioning his brother Ben or vice versa. The brothers have been the subject of many articles - from their looks and their relationships to Ben’s decision to cast his brother in Gone Baby Gone and the completely different career paths both guys took on: Casey remained oblivious to the glamour and glitz of Hollywood, while Ben adjusted to the glare of being in the spotlight. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers - The 30-year old Irish actor is known for speaking his mind- he is quite vocal about a number of issues- from the failings of the film industry to dealing with directors with huge egos to the irrelevance of celebrities & the lack of real talent in some of today’s biggest box-office stars. Not many people are blessed with the opportunity to enter a deeply rewarding and exciting career. In the case of Michael Angarano, it has been like that since he was 5 years old. As a young model, he was exposed early to the hustle and bustle of a glam job. Not surprisingly, he began his successful transition into acting a couple of years later. [ read more ]

Kostja Ullmann: Taking on such a challenging role is not a new departure for the actor. After appearing in a variety of shows on German television, Ullmann was offered the role of Achim, one of the leads in Marco Kreuzpaintner’s Summer Storm. [ read more ]
