While we're doing the finishing touches in our Harry Potter saga series, here are the latest from the movie that gave us fantasy and adventure long forgotten...
THE HARRY POTTER SAGA CONTINUES...
From the Sunday Mirror:
J.K. Rowling has penned a brand-new Harry Potter story which is being turned into a mini-movie. The film will be shown at a new theme park called The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida.
All the regulars, including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are shooting the movie at Leavesden, Herts, before starting two films based on final Potter novel The Deathly Hallows.
A source said: "They are also working on extra sequences and clips which will be part of the rides. J.K. Rowling has been involved in everything. She wrote the story."
The new 20-acre park is being built as extension to Universal Studios Islands Of Adventure in Orlando and will open next year or early 2010. It will contain the village of Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest and Hogwarts Castle. The author recently auctioned off a handwritten 800-word Harry Potter "prequel" for charity and raised £25,000. |

One of Germany's rising stars, Tom Schilling, made quite a number of films in his native Germany. While fellow actors like Daniel Bruehl and Moritz Bleibtreu continued to hug the limelight and take on the more challenging roles, it's just a matter of time before Schilling, Kostja Ullmann and Max Riemelt get the juicy roles.
- - -

- - -
While Ullmann gets to play a young gay's love interest (the sexy Achim in Summer Storm) and enter into the realm of S&M (as the rebellious Jan Winkler in Punish Me ) and Max Riemelt continues portraying teen rebels (as Marco in The Wave) and the boy-next-door ( as Siggi in Der Rote Kakadu), Schilling is geared towards period films and more importantly diverse roles.
In George Taboris Mein Kampf, he is the young Adolf Hitler. |

Wanted is NOT the one to anticipate if you're a James McAvoy fan. There is another film project by the Scottish actor entitled The Last Station, where he takes on such talents as Hellen Mirren, Christopher Plummer and Paul Giamatti.
- - -

- - -
Based on the book by Jay Parini, The Last Station looks at the last days of Russia's greatest author, Count Leo Tolstoy. Considered an icon by all Russians, Tolstoy is the author of such acclaimed novels as 'War and Peace' and 'Anna Karenina'. Wanting to spend his dying days in peace and quiet, Tolstoy fled from his home and away from the spotlight. He died nine days later in the house of the station master at Astapovo. |

Evan Rachel Wood is not only a talented movie actress but has also excelled in television and theater roles. She also proudly includes in her resume her talent as a singer. She began her career in the late 1990s, appearing on television in productions such as American Gothic and Once and Again. Wood made her debut as a leading film actress in 2002's Little Secrets, becoming more widely known after her transition to a more adult-oriented Golden Globe-nominated role in the critically acclaimed Thirteen.
- - -

- - -
Wood continued acting in mostly independent films, including Pretty Persuasion, Down in the Valley (which also featured an outstanding performance from Edward Norton), Running With Scissors, and most recently in the big studio production Across the Universe (2007). Wood's acting has drawn critical praise and she has been described by The Guardian as being "wise beyond her years" and "one of the best actresses of her generation". For 2008, the young actress has the following films lined up: The Life Before Her Eyes, Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll and The Wrestler.
Why she's in the top 10: Her talent is undeniable - just watch her in Catherine Hardwicke's Thirteen (together with Nikki Reed, who co-wrote the script with Hardwicke) and you'll see why she's a young actress to be reckoned with. Even in such lesser-known films as The King of California and Down in the Valley, her acting prowess is awesome. Not to mention her perfomance in the recent Across the Universe.
And - she's even prettier than some of the most popular models out there!

A decade on from the release of Toy Story, the new car smell of the age of computer animated feature films is gone. Nowadays it is difficult to justify liking something simply because it looks good. I’m afraid that ship has sailed. No, now we assume the film will look great and so we look to the story to work in conjunction with the animation to make a great film. These days, our assumptions and expectations have been heightened by the success of so many computer animated feature films, but sadly there are few really great ones. But the good news is that it is time to clear a spot towards the top because we have a new member of that illustrious circle. |

Expect the French to deliver the goods! That's definitely the case when it comes to movies exploring some of the most controversial (and even taboo) subjects that Hollywood would not even dare go near!

At the recent Cannes Film Festival, one movie - Private Lessons - became one of the most-talked about. Variety's Justin Chang provides a great summary:
Starting off as a wickedly seductive comedy about a naive youth and his unusually attentive tutor, only to take on increasingly insidious dimensions, "Private Lessons" more than confirms the rising talent of 33-year-old Belgian writer-director Joachim Lafosse. Lighter in tone and subject matter than his 2006 dysfunctional-family drama "Private Property," but no less incisive in its examination of toxic relational dynamics and the damage that can occur in the absence of boundaries, this is a sly, superbly knowing entertainment that looks set to earn high critical marks and admission to offshore arthouses. Aside from the movie, tMF is also thrilled to feature one of its stars - the sixteen-year-old French newcomer Jonas Bloquet. With an appealingly youthful charm, Bloquet also exudes a sensuality which reminds me of Isild le Besco, but he is definitely masculine! |

Mysterious, intriguing, sexy! Probably the best terms to describe the film La troisième partie du monde (Third Part of the World), starring Gaspard Ulliel and Clémence Poesy.
- - -

- - -
I find Poesy, who was last seen in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Fleur Delacour, to be a fascinating actress. It will be great to watch her tackle a more mature role, and with Gaspard Ulliel no less!
You need to watch the trailer (see the video below) to see why it's very intriguing! I find the chemistry between the actors to be good - even with Eric Ruf (who plays Ulliel's brother), Poesy managesy to create electricity! This French actress is certainly one to watch! |

Just how well do you remember Brokeback Mountain? Some of you might rate the movie as one of your all-time favorites, while others might dismiss it as just another tearjerker, while others simply include Ang Lee's film as part of their DVD collection. Whatever your opinion of the movie, it certainly made waves when it was first shown in theatres worldwide and was recognized by the industry's biggest award giving bodies.

The buzz about BBM now is that the "New York City Opera has commissioned Charles Wuorinen to compose an opera based on Annie Proulx's short story "Brokeback Mountain," which was adapted into the 2005 film.

My appreciation of the career of Adam Sandler has been a tumultuous affair. It started with Billy Madison. With every bone in my critic and non-critic being, I know it to be an atrocity of a movie. But I still like it. Happy Gilmore paid it forward and then Bulletproof came along. I didn’t like it, but I appreciated the departure from his brand of stupid comedy. Then he went back to his stupid brand of comedy for a few films, then Punch-Drunk Love came out and blew everybody away. Then he went back to the well, then Spanglish. The well. Reign Over Me. The well. And so on. Whether it works or not, every time he tries something different he follows it up with a few old stand by’s. You almost have to admire his tenacity.
Almost. |

She was fantastic in Gregg Araki's Mysterious Skin, playing a supporting role to Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Neil McCormick. As Wendy, Michelle Trachtenberg played her role in the most subtle of ways, but end up being one of the most unforgettable characters in the movie. Says Michelle:
- - -

- - -
“The Mysterious Skin” is basically about two boys who were sexually molested when they were younger. One grows up to really embrace this and he pretty much whores himself out to the gay community. That's Gordon Levitt and he is just brilliant. And Brady Corbet plays the other boy. He is very confused about what happened to him. He thinks he was abducted by aliens. I play Joe's best friend. I am the only one he has ever been able to trust in his life, so I help him understand what happened to him when he was younger."
Her performances on both television and the big screen cannot be ignored - from Nicklelodeon and Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Eurotrip and now back to TV as one of the mainstays in the popular series, Gossip Girl. |

“We knew of Jamie Bell because of our involvement with Dear Wendy. Sometime in the middle of the writing process we were on a plane to London and I saw a picture of him in a magazine. I held it up in front of David McKenzie and we both immediately thought ‘that’s our man.’ But we knew we had to get the script right first, so it took a few months before we approached him," says film producer Gilliam Berrie
- - -

- - -
If you've been following the movie career of young Jamie Bell, you knew that it was only a matter of time before he got another challenging role. After Billy Elliot, it seems he's been dying for that elusive part, and now here comes Hallam Foe and bam! He got it!
“I first met Jamie in Berlin at the festival two years ago in this Japanese restaurant which had screens at the end of each table playing very explicit anime porn so I think both of us were only half listening to each other while we were sneaking glances at the screens. One of the reasons Jamie and I are so delighted the film is premiering in Berlin is that it gives the whole relationship some kind of symmetry. We will definitely be going back to that restaurant to drink a few sakes! Anyway we seemed to get on OK and I told him I was working on a script that he might be interested in etc and he said ‘Cool, send it to my manager, etc.’ But despite all that film star swagger that he likes to throw around (only joking Jamie!) I had a good idea he liked the very inarticulate pitch I stammered at him between the distractions of gushing female orgasms on the screen. So from then on in I was writing the script with Jamie in mind. And a few months later he got to read it and was on. |

Here's the Top 30:

She played two amazingly different characters: the ever-suffering Melody in the 2006 Australian drama film, 2:37, from upcoming film-maker Murali K. Thalluri and a bullying American schoolgirl named Vanessa in The Grudge 2.
She is Teresa Palmer, and was recently named as one of Australia's 30 'Stars of Tomorrow' in Screen International. She was supposed to be the leading lady in Jumper, but was replaced abruptly by Rachel Bilson (as was the case with Hayden Christensen who bumped Tom Sturridge for the lead). Although she lost out on that one, there were recent reports that she'll be the next Wonder Woman.
Says moviehole:
The director of one of actress Teresa Palmer's most recent movies dropped us a line to say the foxy blonde starlet has won the much coveted part of Wonder Woman in George Miller's "Justice League". Palmer was one of a handful of actresses - including Minka Kelly and Mary Elizabeth Winstead - who tested for the part a week ago, with both studio and director reportedly crushin' over the "December Boys" star's audition. If true, Teresa's about to invest in some blonde hair dye.
Palmer is definitely one to watch in the years to come. Says Palmer ( on her role as Lucy in December Boys):
I'm like, "Yeah! I'm sexy!" That was really challenging, for me to do that. I'm not as overtly sexual as Lucy is. But I think that sexiness comes from within. The way you are. Your confidence. I think the thing about Lucy is that she really uses her body, and the way she moves, to lure Maps into her little world.
